Limited Time First Edition Off-Grid Samurai T-shirt: samuraicarpente...
Learn Woodworking and Join The Makers Mob: rlnk.cc/thesam...
In the last video “Installing The Roof On My Off-Grid Cabin!” we raced against the weather and won! Unfortunately as soon we finished papering the roof, it started pouring rain! The next day wasn’t so pleasant…. But, we persevered and finished the front porch shed roof, finished pegging the frame with dowels that weren’t swollen… and then installed 2 walls of shiplap before we called it a day. I hope you enjoy seeing the process and thanks for following the journey!

I can’t wait to see that view from the cabin. I hate the rain; I spent too much time in the bush as a geologist in my earlier career. Building camps in relentless rain was depressing. Love the joinery on cabin. Such a nice feeling to finally be under shelter, isn’t it?

Windows, telescope, Dutch oven, outdoor kitchen, composting toilet, garden, floating fresh fish pen, an Archimedes Screw to deliver water to the fire pit or wooden hot tub next to the fire pit (with a coiled copper tube water heater), A halved log sluice waterslide as long as you want sanded smooth and lined with moss (purées of moss painted on the wood will grow moss as a smooth covering - moss art).

I love your videos, man! Easily the most fun likable woodworker/carpenter on YT. With that being said, I’d LOVE to see the Samurai’s take on a timber-framed with 2X4s and 4X4 outdoor treehouse/play fort/play gym/whatever the hell you call those things! I have four sons like you (all 6 and under) and I’d be honored to buy your blue prints to emulate whatever magic you’d create. Keep changin’ the world for the better, Jesse. And by the way, I will spam every video for the rest of time asking for a Samurai-inspired playfort ‘til I’m a grandpa!
@TheSamuraiCarpenter
@TheSamuraiCarpenter 3 года назад
Thanks for the compliments. I will be building some tree forts in the future but won’t be building any play structures. They rot away too fast and only get used for a couple years at best. The Forrest is the best play structure ever made. Take your kids into the woods.

The weather sucks but it does make some awesome cinematic footage of the samurai carpenter working relentlessly with ‘his apprentice’ on the cabin. Sun Tsu probably said something smart about when it is wise to call it quits. I think you chose the right moment. Let’s hope the moisture gets aired out. Keep on rockin’

I had to deal with the same weather system building on Denman island. Came back home to find a tree branch through my roof. Looking forward to the week ahead.. seems sunnier ☀️ The cabin looks nice, I was surprised to see the tar paper not doing a better job of keeping the rain out. Maybe peel & stick would have been better 🤷‍♂️

Those triple chip Wood Owl bits are hands down the best! My only gripe is that they exit a bit messy.
@TheSamuraiCarpenter
@TheSamuraiCarpenter 3 года назад
They are engineered to stop themselves before exiting the other side as long as you don’t push on it. The bit will stop just as the spur pokes out the back and then you just drill it from the back a tiny bit and you got a perfect hole.
