If you wanted to add your solar panels to your water catchment system, you could place plastic or metal sheets beneath the panels such that water that driped through the panel joints would drain into a gutter.

Solar array looks nice! Noticed that the combiner box 4 x 4 is just a little too tall / casting a shadow on the panel next to it (in the vid at 12:55) which will kill power coming from that string. Even a few square inches of shadow will kill 90% of the power of that string. Maybe shorten it a few inches :)

HOWdy G-D-P, ... Thanks for your VIDEO ... I found that CLEANING my PANELS was much easier once they were INSTALLED on my Ground Mount ... I utilized a soft bristled "BOAT HULL BRUSH" & a Mop Bucket with Dawn Dish SOAP ... my 45 degree ANGLE allowed the Dirty water to drain-off & then RAIN & SNOW did the "final" RINSE ... ... but ... I had the advantage of a 60 PSI Well Pump & Garden Hose Thanks Again COOP the WiSeNhEiMeR from Richmond, INDIANA ...

I think, maybe plain water, and then Windex to take out the streaks. It seems that your panels started dusty, and ended up with dried soap streaks... However, that rack looks SOOOO MUCH BETTER than before! Great job! Get well soon Lluvia!

@ the green dream project. Rugged, robust, Burly solar panel rack, check. Battery storage, check. Rainwater catchment and storage, check. Monolithic, Dome One check. Options, options, you've always got options, including an air source or dual source ductless mini split. Ceiling fans can be reversed for optimization. Supplemental heating or Cooling, where you want, when you want, just as much as you want or conditions suggest you need. You have built a Cost Containment Dome. You can minimize or eliminate carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and combustion products and byproducts. Good design and build practices pay real dividends in quality of life. You guys have built it and it's all under your control. Congratulations!!!

Now that they are mounted, in time some refinement. Cleanup the wiring. 2 buckets, one with soap, the other with water and an extendable broom to wash the panels. Maybe a short step ladder for top panel access. Hoping the dog feels better soon. What is your water situation? With all this power, any plans for electric heat in the new build structure? What is the impact of low temperatures and ice on the solar panels? Is your battery storage adequate, especially in extended cold or cloudy or icy weather? Some off grid families have alternate back-up power, i.e. generator that runs on gas, propane or diesel. For emergencies only. Is that a viable option to consider, especially with weather extremes?

Buy a double neck cone and reinforce it with duct tape. Perhaps even buy four of them. Dogs chew through them like crazy. Perhaps ask if you can return any unused ones. They always come in useful for other incidents.

I like the new solar build. Especially the unistrut that allows you to mount the panels close to the ground, then slide each panel up into its final local. It's funny, installing solar panels in the moonlight and using battery headlamp. 😆.

Add some bracing (structural member 45 degrees to rafters) because at present your panels are acting as bracing and this can crack them in a wind storm. They are not designed for this. Bracing can even be a cable, metal strap or timber. They are placed corner to corner on the diagonal.

when i had the same thing done for my dog admittedely she is a jack russell so much smaller, she rode home from the vets laid across me, i was hyper careful bringing her into the house,it did take her 10 minutes or so to lay down in a position that was good for her but after a long sleep she started to perk up, the 1 week vet check went okay, and she is still okay 8 months later, one thing i would done different with the panels is mounted them all then cleaned them using the angle to your advantage while generating power :), 30 deg south is always a winner too :) :)

Good day Not sure if you already know this… and not sure if you get a lot of lightning storms… But if you haven’t already done do… please do yourself a favor and find a way to put lighting rods near your solos station so you never have to experience the cost to replace the solar panels after a direct hit

Jim/Jess great to see your super job on your solar rack. It looks like you were more skilled than I was when it came to measuring your rack for proper spacing of the panels. As I mentioned and showed on my channel I had to move the 2x6 supports back and forth a bit to make everything work. Hmm. it doesnt even look like you wrecked any cone nuts to attach the panels like I did. I am embarrassed to say how many of those things I wrecked LOL. Great job and looking sturdy!
