I was 15 years old the first time I did this. It was a drip bar with a crew of 4. The field was 80 acres. We had stacks of drip tape rolls on the front of the bar. Took a crew of 4 men not including the driver 7 days, 8 am to 10 pm to finish 80 acres. The land we worked was 2,000 acres. Imagine the man hours to do all that. Proud to be a farmer!!
I use similar drip tape on surface but im wondering how do you get water thru 12"-16" of dirt pressure? Thats not even counting the packing of soil by the weight of tractors and machinery etc.
Same way a vault of a cathedral dosen't come crashing down. Any pressure is gonna try to escape to the side and away from the center, which is suppoerted by even more dirt...etc, etc.
Very nice system. What are the water requirement to irrigate 100Ha of corn and 100Ha of lucerne? Whats the estimated cost for setting up the system for 100Ha?
Hello, i am curious how does this type of irigation affects the soil Ph and the salt level, doesn-t the upflow of water brings the salt closer to the surface?
