Due to the insane amount of work involved to install these cams, Indian should just offer a factory built Challenger model with the cams already built in.
LMFAO what a bad design for upgrading. At least harley considers this stuff when they design a new bike. You can literally install a stage 2 for an M8 in an hour without disassembling the entire thing. You can install a bigbore stage4 and all you have to do is take off the gas gank. This bike is designed like a car.... No consideration for the mechanic who has to work on it after the factory builds it. All that work and money and it only makes 12HP more.
If a motorcycle isn’t good enough off the showroom floor that’s a problem. Harley Davidson is the only motorcycle manufacturer that promotes add on’s out the gate. Other motorcycle makers have their bike loaded out the gate.
“Good enough” is one’s preference. It’s “good enough” for most. Should corvette not make aftermarket parts because it’s not good enough from the factory? You sound like a hater 🤡
@@harryhowell5644 totally different engine. Thunderstroke engine is push rod as well i believe. This is overhead cam on a liquid cooled engine that is also considered part of the frame when altogether. Both bikes but like comparing a 69' 392 Hemi to the newer 392 inspired 6.4L SRT Hemi. Both big V8's, but one is significantly more complex in comparison.
This helps make my mind.My challenger runs great stage 1 Indian flash .Lloyds got a tune many are happy with. More power to those wanting these cams but no one breaking my bike down like this
Difficulty of the cam swap & paint quality are the only advantages HD have over a Indian. That M8 is a dream to upgrade compared to this. That being said, Challenger or Pursuit all day over a HD
Next week Indian Motorcycle of Metro Milwaukee adds a Stage 2 kit to my 2021 Challenger. After watching this and another RU-vid video on installation of the Stage 2 kit, I understand the complexity of the job, the skill involved in properly installing the Stage 2 kit, and the labor charges that I will incur.
While I am sure this mechanic did an excellent job, no way would I get the Stage 2 kit. Too complex of an install, too laborious, and something could easily be overlooked, or forgotten. This should be offered on a premium model- from the factory, where the labor would not require tear down and replacement parts.
Some serious tedious work dismantling the bike and dropping the motor, then swapping the Cams and doing it all over again to put it all back together. Intricate, not for the faint of heart and patience
It nets you a total of 12HP. You can buy a harley M8 114, and make as much power with a fraction of the cost and you can do it in your garage. You can do stage 3 107 to 119 for a lower price, and make more power than this challenger. Challenger is fine if you dont want to mod anything. If you do, get the harley.
Did Lloyds ecu tune for my Challenger. Well worth it to you Challenger owners if choice between these cams and Lloyds tune I believe the tune better.Cooks choice
@@jimmysandborn910 Yes you can, cost was factor for me.The cams 700.00 plus ridiculous labor bout 1200.00 because of engine drop.So I only did Lloyds tune very happy
Damn! Knew you had to drop the engine, but that’s a lot of work, well done. Like the look & sounds of those Bassani’s, assume you had to go w/ PCV, haven’t seen of they’ve updated their maps now that cams are out
Also to add cost of this cam job 600.00 for cams and 8 hours labor at 100.00 per hour.Lloyds tune 600.00 plus shipping.Check Ridingfish runs with tune against Cammed Challenger
I also went the Lloyds tune route on my 2020 Challenger. After seeing this and the amount of work involved, not to mention the cost, I’m quite happy with my choice!
I've contracted Dynojet weeks ago regarding an updated PCV tune for the PowerPlus cams and their reply was they did not have any plans to generate a new fuel map for the PP108 cams at this time. Although, my 2020 Challenger has been in the Dealership shop since February 4th (todays date is 02.19.2021) due to there seems to be an issue with the new VCM1 (required for 2020 models) replacement not wanting to communicate or accept the new ECM download necessary for the new cam install.
Damn!!!! That is a lot of work. I am having this done to my challenger. Really excited for this upgrade. Any advice on mufflers/slip on? Not looking for anything aggressive.
@@christopherlococo2483 because there's zero need to wear a mask unless you have direct exposure (15 minutes with less than 6' distance). I work in healthcare, and I wear a mask during treatments, but no one needs to wear a mask when you're by yourself. Masks aren't even required in most states anymore. I know first hand that doing manual labor would suck while wearing a mask.
Not sure why the hell he is wearing a mask 😷 never understood this with ppl!! Never!! Ppl be alone still wear stupid mask oh well Kudos on the job he did!
To many bolt's were never torque if your going to do this work put it back just like factory if not a few years down the road the owner is wondering why some of the problems he has is happing.
First of all I like to say good job.. I just bought the Challenger going to add on the power plus stage 1 air intake and stage 2 performanace cams along with ECU Flash. Exhaust will be the Zombie Tabs. Your thoughts?
Lloyd's tune is the way too go.. if u wait a bit they are working on their own cams (testing and tuning now) should be alot more of an upgrade than the indians!
