By making it floor pivot, you've joined the master race anyway. Glorious floor-pivot accelerator! Also, I hate to say it Ade, but when you were doing the segment at 9:15, we could tell you were stumbling... lots of stops, and afterthoughts. Still, great episode! Enjoyed the humour as always, but I think we need to start keeping track of the times Chris isn't on brand, and for every segment he's not on-brand, he donates a fiver to a charity that helps young people get into racing. Or something. I'm sure a charity like that exists.
Found this channel a while ago and have been enjoying watching the build. So much so that I started building something similar myself recently. Nothing serious, just a small one seat racer. Like a go-kart, but larger. I use the front end of a small fwd car as the rear end on my car and build a costom frame out of tubes.
A while back, Chris and I were discussing the build and Chris said "If one person sees what we did and thinks 'If they can do that, so can I', it'll be worth it". So that means a huge amount that you did it, thanks for your support!
Patrik Broberg that’s the best thing I’ve read all year, honestly! All I want to do is inspire others to go build their own cool stuff so thanks for letting us know. Also we love seeing what other people are up to so if you have time please keep us up to date on your build!
I'm glad it make you guys happy to hear about my build. I have the engine, gearbox, rear suspension and wheels in place now. I basically copied all the mounting points from the donor car (a Nissan Micra with CGA3 engine) and bend and weld up tubes to build up the frame. Now I am working towards the front to get the outline of the frame done and try to figure out where the rest of the parts will fit. I could send some photos if you are interested.
Thanks for the positive comments! We try and balance the fab and talking without skipping or being dry, and comparison to Roadkill is high praise indeed!
Really more fly-by-wire-by-rod :) bit of a Rube Goldberg contraption down there I have to admit, but it’s the only way we could find to keep our shiny, driver-friendly floor-pivoting accelerator pedal :)
