Excavating for collars will test your operating skills....however, you mastered it! Installing pipe was one of my most favorite part of road construction...I guess it was the $$$$...lol.
Your uncle is not as useless on the job site as I once thought. Is there any chance we could get him on camera for an interview by you? It would be very interesting to get his perspective of us RU-vidrs. :D
You can always tell a pro from an idiot when chris takes his hands off the controls when not running the excavator. I've seen more careless guys hurt good people by refusing to let the joysticks go and then leaning on them and hitting somebody or dropping something on somebody. Way to go chris.
thumbs up letsdig18 . Sad 1 thumbs down on this amazing video probably some over priced contractor who failed to get this job on bid and wishes he could only do half as good as letsdig18
I love how you are able to get a nice almost flat bottom to the trenches. I dont think I'd ever be that skilled if I ever learned how to operate an excavator
it is a soapy lube to help the huge oring seals slide and not roll twist or tear. I hate it. on big pipes you have to use it on smaller ones I use a can of wd40 way easier on the wife and laundry at the end of the day. LOL brush helps.
Nice to see how you Americans do it! Whole lot different than we dutches do.. they wil laugh at you here if u use a teeth bucket.. but u do prove it works! Good job
Chris, I just bought a used Yanmar VIO55-5B for my farm. It is coming with an 18" bucket. Wondered if you had any advice on what the biggest bucket it will handle, for upstate SC dirt which is primarily red clay. Thx in advanced for any advice.
What has watching your videos done to me Chris! So far I'm only 15m into the video and I've watched 2 ads for construction equipment and just now a 3min ad for Volvo trucks. The weirdest part is I found them interesting.....fuck knows why!. I'm a 'mature' haha not, 50+ female living in Qld Australia that has nothing to do with construction (maybe it's a secret passion) though I love driving, I have really enjoyed watching your videos as I find the change you make from start to finish interesting.
Hi I really like your videos. I am a new prescriber on your channel. I just discovered your channel a few days ago. Keep up the Great work. I don't your name yet. Lol
You should hold the pipe a bit higher so your uncle doesn't have to bend over to shmear on the sealant. Just saying. Excellent work as always. Thanks for the video.
It is pipe lube, there are two rubber o-rings and if you dont lube them the leak or twist roll or tear. I hate using that stuff, I have used wd40 on smaller pipes but the big ones you have to use that lube to ensure the rings dont roll or get damaged.
Might be an idea for Timmy to count the ribs from the end of the first pipe when he finds the point of balance on it. That way he finds the sweet spot every time 😉 Time is money ...
Chris I cannot understand why you can work in sloppy mud and everything else and your equipment stays so clean but everyone’s else’s I see going up and down the road is dirty muddy and everything else
thinking ahead, and newer equipment, but look at the video where he sinks the machine in the lake, that machine was not clean till he cleaned it up. I bet working near ponds a bucket of water to splash on the machines is available.
I remember well the days of having to use that pipe butter to put the gasketed pipes together, it didn't matter how you did it, that crap got on everything and everywhere- it messed up some good work clothes. One day we were doing some irrigation work on a field and had to tamp the pipes to 100% compaction. After we had left, they called and said we didn't pack it well enough and had to go back. The next day, at the end of the day, the boss sends me and the Guatemalans to rent another tamper and pack it better. We pick up the tamper, get to the job throw it on our ditch and turn it on. The tamper hops about 5 times and the motor comes off of the tamper and into my hands. WTF, I am thinking as I take a look at what caused this. They must have just worked on it and had failed to put any of the bolts back in at that vital connection point. How inna hell it was man-handled into and out of the truck without falling apart, I have no idea. So we stuck it back in the truck, drove back across town to the shop and had to do it again the next day. That was a damn frustrating job getting the pipe packed to their satisfaction. They even made us rent a conveyor trencher so we didn't leave loose dirt on top of their field; had to shuttle the dirt off, then shuttle it back to backfill. This was all for the irrigation on a professional soccer field/track and field sporting complex.

Call me stupid if I'm not right but shouldn't that Culvert company put a line at dednutz center of the Culvert so people can see where to hook the chain quickly or strap whatever they're using anyway they need to put a align dead center of that Culvert of all of their Calvert's there should be a line yep I'll say it again there should be a line in dead center of the Culvert so you know where to hook the strap or the chain
@@toddkratzer7953 I know they put the station numbers on pipe when it is for a highway job. I'm not sure if the contractor pays for that. I think the pipe companies would have to have someone and all they did was that.
Ever see that parody video of a guy runnin' one all day and he gets handed a glass of water and shakes it all over him self. Wife makes him dinner - he can't get the food into his mouth and then his wife gets the 'light-bulb' above her head and the next shot is the two of them in the bedroom and he's just doin' what he does and she's in heaven!
@@DC-1 I caught it too. I was assuming he meant "municipality" - so I played along with his horrible rendition of what it apparently sounds like in his mind!!!! ROFLMAO
