Short answer is : There is a risk of that happening. @@Gameengineer. I did make a backup just in case if the widescreen patch broke the game, does the hardware setup (the menu in the vid) appear from RD2.exe?

@@Cxltyy On first attempt to launch the game the game will launch hardware setup. If you patch the game with AutoManiak widescreen, you are safe to launch the game, as it is also No-CD and removes StarForce DRM. To confirm that everything is working, the game without patch will ask you to reboot PC to install Starforce, and once you do it, now the problems could begin. With patch the game will just launch. If that window will pop up, just click "No" when game is asking for PC restart, and check if widescreen patch is correctly installed

Short version being : If you have widescreen patch installed, no need to worry about Starforce

I've tried, but I've got problem with a missing file to update the game (without it you are stuck on refresh rate test), I will try few more things during this week, but I wouldn't hope for a solution.

@@satvikchaudhary6738 Yes it does, however you have to run it before running original .exe Otherwise it will ask you to install STARFORCE every time you launch your game.

The widescreen patch is actually also a non-cd patch, and will remove also StarForce in process. I wouldn't recommend running the game without installing it first, as it might go as far as bricking your PC

What about for the italian version (Fx interactive)? It had the 1.2 patch installed and as i saw through the files i didn't saw any trace of Starforce

@@francy10_game I'm pretty sure there is Starforce present, and you can check it yourself, if you install the game, and try to run it for the first time, if you get a pop-up that the game either needs to restart pc or admin access, the game is starforce "protected". If you get no such prompt then it's most probably clean from it. But most likely it is still present, no matter if the game is named "V8 Supercars 2", "DTM Race Driver 2" or any other "special" version.

If you have updated win 10 or win 11, the Starforce won't do any harm even if you skip No-CD patch. if you have outdated updates or Win 7/8/8.1 it might brick your PC if you allow the system restart when first starting the game and it asks you to do it. If you install the game, and right after that patch it with 1.2 patch and No-CD, you are safe.

So I would recommend to do as I shown, right after instalation just update to 1.2 and No-CD patch it and you are good to go.
