Cleaning the air in your home (indoor air quality) is just as important as maintaining temperature/humidity. Most homes are built extremely tight, not allowing enough fresh air in. In this video, I’m installing an Ultravation whole house air purifier (UV Photomax), UV light (EZ-light 6P), Orion Ion Generator, and two 5” MERV 11 filters. When opening a duct system or making any changes, its very important to make sure you seal the ducts properly. Shurtape offers a wide range of tapes, making it easy on you to get the job done right.

From the standpoint of a 33 year old woman who honestly really has no business being here, I feel like this was time well spent. Your clean and responsible attention to detail just kinda hit the right spot. I've also got a place to start as far as product research goes for the sake of much needed better air quality, so thank you.

That by-pass might blow dust back into the house when filter or duct is dirty....especially if using a pre-filter inside.... I tried that way years ago and had to go back and change it. However it does look much better duct-wise that way.

I normaly by pass the by pass!!
@jwaflergmailcom
@jwaflergmailcom 3 года назад
The by pass is for making sure the duct work isn’t over pressurized due to the zone system installed. If only one zone is calling for conditioned air the ventilation system could be over pressured or cause high noise from the supply vents. I asked the same question my self and that’s how it was explained to me!
@TedCookHVAC
@TedCookHVAC 3 года назад
@@Keo0oo The bypass will relieve the blower when a damper closes and "chokes down" the system below it's required airflow specification.... I am not at all a fan of the so called "zoning" done with systems that are not designed to operate in a variable capacity application. But the bypass does at least "trick" the blower and lower some noise and static pressure issues. However, it does nothing for the amount of btu's that have to all try to fit in the reduced duct capacity when a damper is closed, so the supply air is measured by a DATS sensor and the compressor is cycled to death killing longevity as well as efficiency. On a gas system it will of course cycle the burner to death at pretty much the same costs. I am a big fan of zoning, but not this way. 20 S.E.E.R. Trane with communicating zoning components is the way to go IMO.

Retired hvac tech here, in my opinion one should start in the trade as a duct work installer for a year or two and then a system installer for a year or two and then a hvac tech. So much more knowledge gained.

They dont have duct work in Tn. Its all flex. So much competition up here as well. It drives the market down so nobody goes with metal ducts anymore unless you can get in a good neighborhood where people care about quality. Zach seems to have some good customers

Need advice they found mold in hvac and one vent. It’s not that bad, they cleaned the vent and hvac. They added a uv light I think rema system supposedly hydrogen peroxide will release into the vent or something like that. Is this enough to kill off the rest of the mold? Supposedly with humidity at 40% and with the rema and regular cleaning they said it will be ok. I can’t afford to rip out the ductwork and replace it with new ones

My original intention for this humidifier was to use it for plants that require high moisture levels. After using it in my room, ru-vid.comUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj however, I think that's where it is going to stay in the fall and winter season at least. The increased humidity in my room made the room warmer and more comfortable. I had first ran the humidifier for 4 hours with the timer setting for it. After the first hour, I checked my room and can feel the difference. When the full 4 hours was up, I checked again and noticed that the humidifier was shut off as it is suppose to. The moisture level never seem to get passed 56/57%. I then let it run until all the water is used up, which it wasn't all used up. There are still some left in the base that you are not suppose to add water to. I filled up the water tank all the way again, being careful when removing it from the base. Some left over water may spill out. After putting it back on and setting the unit to auto, I let it operate. It didn't stop running, rather I don't know if it did at any point since I didn't check it regularly, for 24 hours after which the water in the tank ran out. The moisture reading never passed 56/57%, which may be a good thing for me. Being situated right next to my bed, the noise was not very noticeable with the occasional water gurgle from time to time as the unit ran.

It's too bad that 80% of these installs would be done in an overhead attic, where there's hardly any space to move around in. lol Attics that have minimal floors installed so you have to watch your step on the joists or you wind up going through the ceiling into the owner bedroom etc. Attics that has active animal presence and feces plus who knows what else.

Advice. UV lights are near useless in a furnace or air handler. It takes minutes to hours to kill mold, bacteria, or virus`. Yet it passes through the UV light in a second or less. Be a good hvac tech and tell homeowner to invest in HEPA furnace filters. Thats what hospitals use for patients with TB. Its just basically a 2x3 fan with a medical grade HEPA filter on it. UV is useless on hvac.

How do I know if I have a whole house air purifier? I bought my house newly built, my thermostat has the controls to turn on whole house purifier, and I could feel the air turn on. But it was an option to add and I did not opt for it.

Nice clean install ! Well Done ! Only thing I’m 💭 g about is strapping that item to the Blower wheel housing. Strapping something to a Spinning object is not desirable. Vibration will shorten the Life of it ! Like #448.

I’m sorry to bother but the red indicator light on my reme halo just turned off. If I unplug it for a bit it comes back on but then turns off. Think I need to replace the bulb or the whole thing ? My AC guy is charging me 450 plus labor and travel time. Thanks In advance

Can you do a video on the layout of your truck?

I know this is a Old Video but shouldn't you have put Insulation between the 5" filters and the Furnace? I noticed there was Insulation inside the Furnace Connection here at 02:37 that you cut into to make the opening large enough and before that insulated Ducting went directly into leaving no gaps without insulation. After the work there are now two areas that no longer have any Insulation. 10:25 These two ducts that are between the 5" filters and the Furnace. Maybe this isn't that big of a Deal and just a minor thing but it did seem like a light oversight to me who is not a professional on the subject but it seemed to me that it was maybe missed on the Insulation and is now a weak point in the Insulation of that install. Grate video I enjoyed it Thanks for sharing :3

Those filters are going to increase pressure a lot after a couple months.

Not really. There is so much surface area to 5 in filters they can last up to a year if pulling from ceiling in a house without dogs. A good 5in has less than .1 drop fully loaded.

i thought i was gonna watch a HVAC video about purification...not a commercial about tape, guess i should have paid attention when the notice said this has paid promotions. Hope they paid good cause that's 15 mins of Flex tape promos
