@@Jackandthebeanstock You are right. I think he was trying to show how it is done if it is needed to people who don't know. But he should have clarified that the cables are only used if you need to extended the cable to an area where the current ones can't reach. Otherwise if current cable can reach the area then don't used the extension because it will interfere with the performance. It just may be a simple mistake and he didn't catch it in time before posting because he did include checking checking BIOS compatibility & manufacturer. 🤷‍♂️ But overall a good video. 👍

@@cs.studios It's an older standard of card so they make limited numbers, I got mine from AliExpress couple of months ago, it's been sold out everywhere, you would find a lot of NGFF cards coz newer laptops have that slot, FENVI makes good Intel cards, keep a look out for FV-AX200HMW

Pcie slot covers the wifi portion of the card. Usb part is for bluetooth. Both are needed if you want wifi and bluetooth

So you are saying old network card is not working anymore? I would try reinstalling windows and if that doesn’t help, look into getting a new wifi adapter (7260-ac is a good choice)

Wifi and bluetooth are independent. If you only have wifi then replacing the wifi card with this new one will get you both wifi and bluetooth

You will also need a new 802.11AX Wi-Fi 6 router to take full advantage. It’s backwards compatible with all previous wifi versions and has bluetooth 5.0 so even without a AX router there are other benefits. I got faster speeds compared to my previous cards at same distance, but your results may vary

Your laptop only has one antenna. In that case just connect the main line on the card

You can buy a cheap laptop wifi antenna and add it to the second line. A clean install would require opening the lcd panel but you can also try stuffing it somewhere else under the laptop. Only thing is which frequency is more important to you

Look up which wifi card is in there now. It’s either a mini pcie card or a ngff card. For 2011 you will most likely have mini pcie so you can buy the one from the ebay link which doesn’t need adapters or wire extensions

@@velzing22 ummm I would say yes since the antenna will triangulate the wifi signal. the chip comes with antennas so no reason not to attach them. still using this model and its been great. a little spotty but nothing like the $100+ usb dongles..those are shite

So I bought this www.ebay.com/itm/254535626097 And installed it and installed the drivers too, I could see the new card under Network Adapters in Device management. However the WiFi switch remain turn off. I don’t have a physical switch on the laptop. If I toggle on the WiFi switch in settings it would go back to OFF within a second.

If your motherboard already has a wifi card then you simply replace it with the new one. The pcie adapter is only for desktops that don’t already have one

From my experience, signal never really increased from any of the upgrades (N>AC, AC>AX), maybe a tiny bit when upgrading the routers too. However, throughput will increase in all distances. So if before you got 30mbps at 25m on AC maybe you’ll get like 70mbps at the same distance on AX. You also get bluetooth 5.0 which did increase range a bit over the older 4.0 I had.

@@cs.studios I should have explained in better detail. I am thinking of upgrading an existing android tablet that i use souly for drone FPV flying. The drone controller for drone connects though wifi 2.4 ghz,which is functional over 1km . The phone (tablet) app connects to the actual camera in drone via wifi 5.8ghz,to show FPV which the range is very small. I am going to try this to hopefully get better FPV range as i know there is an 802.11ax module that comes with two external antennas that i am going to hack/mount on outside edges of tablet. Kind of curious to see if i get any increased range with FPV in the end.

It looks like your laptop does not need the adapter and you can buy the M.2 AX200 version. However, the BIOS might have a whitelist which might now allow the card to work. This is the issue with Lenovo and HP laptops.

If you are replacing a old mini pcie style wifi card with wifi 6. Then you can buy the new wifi6 card in mini pcie format so no need for converters. Link is in description

9th gen cpu will have ngff form factor. Just be sure you buy ax210 ngff card

Physically the ebay link model is plug n play. BIOS wise I don’t know if that model has a whitelist.

CS Studios ok I added cables extensions that attached to the ufl connectors on the adapter. But now my WiFi connection drops intermittently. Should I get new extensions that attach directly to the ngff card instead?

It uses the older mhf4 antennas so I recommend buying the ax200 ebay link. It doesn’t require adaptors

I believe then it only has a single band. It will still work but you might not get signal on one band.

Updated card works because there’s no need for adapters. The adapter version is a bit more annoying to use. I’ve tested updated card on M18xR2, M17xR3, AW 14, M14xR2, and I’m using Area-51m R1 with newer ngff card.

There is skip in the video. You have 2 black wires in your hand then you connect the black wires to the white wire. Next you say tuck the wires. You never show the connection of the black wires to the device.

I see now. The black wires are kinda like extensions they snap into the 2 antenna ports like how the old one was
