After an early exit from the Blackhawks, Corey Perry is reportedy on his way to the Edmonton Oilers. Tyler, gives his instant reaction and analysis to the news
@@tomanderson1942Yeah, I know the fluky stat. But it *is* just a fluke. And ya gotta get there to have a chance. Once there, you can hope McDavid and Draisitl and Hyman will carry them through.
This reminds me of the Kane trade. Perry knows this is his last chance in the NHL, and he has a solid chance at the Cup. If he plays his cards right, brings some leadership and grit, he can’t lose. If he slips up - he’s gone, no second chances.
There are a lot of VERY good teams in the west right now... some are looking a little shaky(Vegas. LA) but most are very consistent this season(Vancouver, Dallas, Colorado). Still, This move makes the oilers one of the favorites for sure. I am looking forward to some playoff series this year! a Vancouver Edmonton series would be enough for me to want to watch a game live!
@ 1:22, no one mentions this but Mactavish before joined in the Oilers from Boston, in 84 was serving a 1 year sentence for a DUI causing bodily harm.Glen Sather took a chance on him and MacTavish has turned his life around since.
One reason I can like it is they don't have to trade away, really, or make a trade. The team's not perfect but they are continually getting more solid as one, don't want to hurt the structure by unfamiliarity. Not obligated to keep him forever and he does bring game experience to and on the ice
There was no way that a 4th line with an average height of 5’8” was gonna win a Stanley cup. They still need to get a Center with some size and grit so we can use Ryan as a 4th line winger or 13th forward.
Ryan will continue playing with McLeod and Janmark. Perry will come in for 4th line to play with Holloway and Brown, Gagner will be out.. We're not going to have 2 slow grandpa's in our forwards. There's room for one of those.
@@enzy6434 nah I’d much rather keep gagner in the lineup than Holloway. Gagner has 10 points in 20gp. Holloway has 2 in 15. I like Holloway and think he could have a bright future as an oiler but honestly I think they should just keep him in the ahl for one more year. He’s only 22 and still has lots of time to develop, no need to give him bottom minutes on an nhl team. Oilers rush too many guys developments and we end up with pulj and yam situations
"But why fix something that isnt broken and bring in someone new? It could backfire!".. Buddy we've had games in our win streak with multiple AHL players on the team, we're fine.
Must be your 1️⃣st rodeo...the PLAYOFFS aren't the regular season⁉️ It's ONLY January, fanb😴y. Drop your juvenile misconceptions & wake up to reality. We didn't even require a TRADE, he chose us! Every contender wants this postseason, Swiss Army knife. Pull your head outta your xBox & do some homework❗️ 🇨🇦
I hope that the team did its Due Diligence. It would be devastating if just before the playoffs, all the headlines are like: "The Oilers knowingly signed Perry even though as a supposed veteran mentor, at a Blackhawks event, in a drunken stupor, Corey Perry _____(fill in the blank)_______. I hope that the blank isn't that bad, but just bad enough for the Hawks to terminate his contract with cause. 😨😖
I believe in second chances and for me to pass a negative judgement on him with out knowing the issue is not right! We all have our flaws but he has faced up to his demons publicly and moving forward at this point in time! When one admits he messed up publicly takes courage! So many others have messed up and when the Oilers took a chance they have succeeded in moving forward in life!
Think this is a good signing, no real cost, if we can upgrade elsewhere I really hate to trade our assets for past their prime rentals, we do this every year. Anyone coming in has to be better than Broberg and Lavoie or no deal.
You forgot to mention Craig McTavish but you're too young to remember or know about that. 🙄 Personally, I hate the Oilers to the bone but I will admit, this is a pretty good move for them. He will make a positive difference for the team. F*ck!
not sure yet if this is good or bad twerking something that's working good as of right now could be bad but yes his front net presence and his grit could be good but it could be a flop
Backup has played great so far, have you even seen any games? There's literally no reason to expend limited resources to fix something that isn't broken.
@enzy6434 he's played like 3 games. Spending limited resources is literally what they just did. If Skinner goes downs you really think an AHL goalie is going hold up against a team like the Aves, Vegas or canucks in the playoffs? Seriously, think before your reply next time.
Oilers: "We need a Goalie!!!!....nah let's sign Kane.....WE NEED A GOALIE!!!...nah let's sign Perry" You'd think the oilers would have figured out there is a difference between a good goalie and goalie on a good run after, Smith, Koskinen, Scrivens, Campbell, ect.
Shall we just ask Winnipeg nicely if they'll give Hellebuyck to us? Or maybe the Rangers feel generous and want to give us Shesterkin? It's so easy to just acquire a great goalie 😂
first..... the Oilers winning streak comes to an end, then..... Corey Perry gropes McDavid's mom..... and of course, the Oilers miss the playoffs, blame the coach and send Skinner to the minors. heard it here first.
I absolutely hate this, not only cause I think he's too old to do what everyone thinks he's going to but I haven't been able to stand the guy his entire career, and I'm not gonna flip a 180 on him now, like it seems a lot of people are doing. I don't like looking at his face, and it honestly makes rooting for the oilers less enjoyable. The guy was let go for character issues by the poster child for organizational scuminess. This feels like Connor Brown 2.0, and I'm over Holland's inability to not sign players past there prime.
