Hi! I was impressed by the performance of this drink chiller. I did not think it would cool a drink to under 10°C in just 60 seconds! More information down below!

RCLifeOn didn't see any ice in the ice bath in the test. you can't be scientific without giving your audience all of the data, like the temperature of the water in the tub. also I'd like to see you do this with a carbonated beverage, I think the spinning would be just like shaking it.... it's a fun idea but impractical

This is so cool! I came across randomly a soda chiller on amazon for $30 but it does not seem that it will last that long. Then I found an extremely high grade one that is almost $100. Was thinking about making my own like you did and I guess this is a sign that the universe is telling me I need to have chilled sodas after all(apart from using the freezer and a wet paper towel around it and leaving it in for 40min. Thanks so much for making this video! You seem like a smart and cool dude.

Peltiers suck. They work but they are so inefficient! Outsourcing the actual cooling to a compressor based cooling system (aka freezer) is way better in my opinion
@M4CHINE69
@M4CHINE69 3 года назад
@@engineer0239 I know this is late but you are correct they require 600w or more power to operate and need good cooling to run properly and wont stay cold for too long unless if you have thick insulation but still it's very inefficient

Put salt in the water
@imbadwrench
@imbadwrench 7 лет назад
ive read that you can put a sealed bag of saltwater into the icewater and it will give a similar effect without getting salt in your pumps..
@jonnyduke3763
@jonnyduke3763 7 лет назад
imbadwrench It won't. Salt water has a lower freezing point than tap water. Putting salt water in a sealed bag will have no impact on the normal water around it, as it will still freeze at 32°F. Other frigorific mixtures could be used instead of saltwater...but there is always a cost factor along with handling/safety concerns.

salt ice and water bring cans of pop to near freezing, as the salt lowers the freezing temp of the water to -4

To increase the effectiveness of this system, we need to improve thermal conductivity of the liquid rather than freezing point, right?

I would love to see a Peltier element version of this that doesn't require ice, just a metallic tray to act as the heat sink which the water sits in. (basically what you did in your thermoelectric cooling hack vid but with the can rotating feature) That way you could bring it on the go with no need to carry bags of ice!

I thought about this too and was annoyed at the video. Then I calculated what amount of peltier elements and electricity you would need. Not viable. You would have to make/extract a cooling circuit from a fridge.

Cool design. You could definitely add some Peltier Elements to cool the water in the machine down. This way you don't need to prepare ice for the machine because instead of remembering to make some ice you could remember to cool your drinks too LOL. With two of there thermoelectric coolers in the machine it will run entirely on electricity and can even be driven with some 18650 or other batteries and could be a cool gadget for outdoor parties or it just could be powered by a 12v car outlet.

Why doesn't the carbonated beverage explode when you open it
@realflow100
@realflow100 7 лет назад
because its cold and being cold theres less pressure inside. even if it was shaken up. AND how soda cans are made they don't normally explode when you open them. Ive even opened one that was bulging at both ends and it just released the pressure calmy without flying everywhere. but DONT puncture it on the side or something.. it WILL go flying everywhere Happened to me with a 2liter soda bottle and it nearly soaked my whole bedroom and almost got to my computer. YIKES.
