8:30 damn it... you made me realize it. The marketing of the IBO line is basically just barbies. you get the base item, and then you can buy tons of accessories for it. Even builders parts had a better sense of professionalism/lego like nature at times.
The Tomytec buildings are super cool, I have a few of them myself. You can also pick up pre-painted n-scale figures, street lights and signs, and vehicles from HLJ, along with street pieces to really add to the look.
For adding weathering details, I recommend graphite powder + a little bit of water, I used it on a Leo (which eventually died to fall damage by dog tail). It works REALLY well for shields, file a groove in the part and put graphite in said groove, add some sharpie, and boom, free beam saber damage.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for all your videos. I've based pretty much all of my gunpla choices on your judgement, and I haven't been disappointed at all. Ver.Ka Sazabi and Nu Gundam rest right on my desk's top shelf, and Ver.Ka Sinanju Stein is mid progress. Keep up the great work. Love the videos.
I imagine that factory set could really be brought to the next level if you snapped a few of those roof structures roughly in two, got some scale appropriate flame or explosion effects, maybe something like similar scale tanker truck, and some orange and/or red LEDs.
Plastic model buildings? NICE! The display possibilities are endless! Gundam battle dioramas, Transformers battle dioramas, Super Sentai/Power Ranger dioramas, Ultraman dioramas, My Little Pony dioramas, Ultraman dioramas, People throwing buildings at each other dioramas, history dioramas, etc. If someone does end up making a custom Gunpla out of these building parts though, my mind would blow up.
@Mechagaikotsu you should tell HLJ that their sponsorship in your channel is well worth it. I started buying from them because of you. I plan to make them my exclusive store to buy hobbies unless they don't sell an item that I have to find elsewhere. Actually I wish I could buy P-Bandai from HLJ. Love the vids
you dont even need to put alot of glue to hold the parts together just a drop here and there should be fine. i would say the buildings are half done as far as destruction goes they look to be newly destroyed buildings not alot of age destruction aspects to them like grime or rust. if i was using these i would go one of two routes for additional painting, black marks for scorching from stuff like blasters, beam sabers, or explosives. or grime and rust for stuff like aging the building.
Thank you for reviewing this. I had been curious, but hadn't known they come painted. that is a major point in their favor. I imagine this might also be nifty for someone if they wanted to do an Ant Man diorama to go with their Marvel Legends figure or something.
Surprised more gunpla channels don't cover the Tomytec buildings, they're great for dioramas, and Tomytec has a wide assortment of both commercial and residential buildings and option parts like street lamps, signs, and figures. It'd be cool if you covered more of these in the future. I was able to put together a pretty cool nightlife street scene with pachinko, a hotel, bar, and restaurant, even scratch built some vending machines using pla-plate.
weird coincidence. just as i looked up tomytec on amazon the apartment complex under demolition was the first thing that came up. and it came up exactly at the same time it came up on the video. XD
Wish you had a 1/100 up against them just for the sake of comparison. I know they're out of scale (at least moreso than they are to a 1/144) but I'd definitely like to pick some up if they don't look *too* bad next to a master grade.
Mecha, another great review! Those are really cool. But I think its time you invested in a hobby knife. I use them and swear by them. Good job my fellow gunpla brother!
Nice thing is that, considering you're a master grade kind of guy, you can just print 1/100 scale demolished buildings/parts. You'd just need to paint them...
where can i get 1/144 scale cars trucks and other vehicles. i wonna make a gundam smack a zaku with a semi truck. also do you have to build scale ships or can you buy a kit. i sould also love a white base to scale of the model kits i have and i could store then in the white base like in the show.
