Advice to all drivers, everywhere: Always give yourself plenty of time to get where you're going, relax, put on some good music or an interesting podcast and cruise safely and legally to your destination. I've been doing so since 1976 - not one ticket, not one incident or accident, no road rage and no high blood pressure - just thousands and thousands of miles of calm, stress-free transportation in comfortable, sensible, practical vehicles. Try it, why don't you...
Agreed and do not drive when you're really tired...it's like driving drunk (spatial judgment goes) and your temper won't be the best, leading to potential road rage.
Small amount of luck involved there then.... I have had 2 cars written off over the years....through no fault of my own. Your blood pressure will bloody well rise when some little prick barrels into the back of you at a junction cos he`s checking poxy Facebook, I can tell you!
well said. this footage made me smile. arrogant drivers who think the entire road belongs to them and they also presume they are above the law-NOT SO FAST! 👏🏼
Just ealier someone tailed me to get to a Housing Community just 1 mile up the road. They remained the only car ahead of me until we were parralel with each other at the light as they tail another car going to the same community
Not long ago there was an unmarked state trooper in the fast lane pacing the traffic. They’re not hard to spot. Everybody was doing the speed limit. Then a Nissan 370Z runs up behind the trooper and flashes his headlights. The trooper moved to the right and let him pass. Nissan takes off thinking he had open road ahead. The trooper gave him a few seconds then took off after him. He caught up to him and pulled him over. Bet that Nissan driver felt stupid.
@@whatheck6709 No doubt there. Since Nissan merged with Renault in 1999, build quality and reliability have been horrendous. The CVT transmissions in Nissans only add to this dumpster fire of a car.
@@ash27slick74 hence why I said 'newer' because older Nissans were good. They are not what they used to be anymore. Their reliability was just as good as Honda and Toyota back in the day. Hell, even new Hondas are having issues 🤣 I'll stick to my 99 Civic, 251k and still going
@@whatheck6709 Yep. Back-in-the-day it was a given for Nissans to go as many miles as your Honda. Nowadays, the god-awful CVTS are tanking the brand as well as their death spiral alliance with Renault. 🤮🤮
That's a great lesson for all of us. Never tailgate another driver, even if you think he is at fault and driving slow in the left lane. Tailgating is dangerous, can lead to road rages, and its illegal.
That’s the thing, the officer was intentional going slow in the fast lane just to get the guy frustrated. So both are bad, but the officer should be more responsible
@@tariqjoseph3562 there’s no such thing as a fast lane especially not on non-highway roads lol the cop very well could have been preparing to turn left at the light. Why would the cop get over to the right lane in that situation? There is such thing as a passing lane on the highway
Tailgaters should get a mandatory 1 month loss of license and a year as a level 3 sex offender AND sent back to driving school. It makes no sense at all - 1. If you hit the guy you're tailgating, it is your fault. 2. It's not going to make people speed up for you, it's just going to piss them off and make them drive slower.
This same thing happened yesterday while my wife and I were driving on a freeway. Speed limit was 65mph, traffic was flowing at 70mph, and state trooper in a charger with ghost decals and no visible light bar driving in the outermost left lane slowly passed everyone. About two minutes later an Acura going at least 85mph passed by us. I told my wife to keep an eye up ahead because I knew that Acura was going to not see the trooper and try to pass him. Sure enough, about 30 seconds later the Acura whipped around the trooper and suddenly there’s Christmas lights in May. The Acura started to pull to the right shoulder and the trooper shut his lights off and continued down the road.
Here in Utah, the cop would have been in the wrong. You’re supposed to keep right unless you’re actively passing. The cop was clearly not trying to pass the car in the right lane. If you’re in the left lane and a car comes up behind you, you’re required to move over to let them pass, regardless of how fast you’re going.
I noticed this as well living here, although I will admit a smallish portion bring it upon themselves by driving like assholes. Merging way under speed, cutting people off w/o room or no signals into the passing line then proceed to drive 5klicks under the limit etc.
I witnessed a similar incident about 15 years ago. Some guy flew by me like I was standing still, (I was doing 60), he flew past me, a car several yards ahead wasn't going fast enough for him so he shot around that car too. Then the back of the other car exploded into blue and white lights. The cop was so pissed he didn't even bother to pull over behind the guy when he stopped. The deputy just pulled over on the opposite side of the road and began yelling at the driver. I slowed down and waved at the guy in such a hurray. Not only was he going to be late, but he was going to have to pay a HUGE fine.
That black combination of lint and dirt that gets wedged under the right side of your right toenail? Tailgaters rank way behind that in terms of quality substance
If that wasn't a cop, 90% of the comments would say tailgating is justified for not passing quick enough. Brakechecking someone tailgating you is worse as well.
Should pull their license. Tailgating is the cause of a lot of roadrage. Tailgating is bullying. Remember that almost anything can be weaponized. Motor vehicles have very dangerous weaponized potential, which the bully driver employs.
I was involved in a tailgating incident by a COP himself. It was decades ago on a rural California two lane in each direction highway. I was cruising along in the right, slow lane at the 55 MPH speed limit. There was no other traffic in sight. I came around a curve and there was a car doing 45 MPH in my slow lane. I signaled to move to the left lane to pass and did so. As I did the car on my right started to quicken his speed to pace my car. Suddenly, in my rear view mirror I spotted a Calif Highway Patrol car moving up fast behind me, now in the left lane. The CHP car started to tailgate me, only feet from my bumper, but with no emergency lights activated. I tried to move to me right but every time I slowed down or speed up a little, the car in the right lane did the same. I started to think that this was speed trap of some kind. I quickly assessed that if I slowed way down the cop would stop me for blocking traffic. If I speed up, a speeding ticket. If I just kept going as I was, failure to move over. I started to think I must be paranoid so I speed up quick to 60 MPH and passed the car on the right, thinking the cop was just in a hurry. The cop immediately pulled me over for going 5 MPH over the speed limit. Then the real reason for this foolishness. The cop asked to search our car. I had nothing to hide and let him. He conducted a through 10 minute search and then said we could go with a warning. This whole incident left a bad taste in my mouth regarding cops that has lasted for decades.
the fact that the cruiser didnt get over from the left lane when he had every opportunity to just makes him an a hole in my opinion. that being said tho i feel like the tailgater should've just waited a few. no need to get on someone's ass aggressively unless they're blatantly ignoring traffic laws for an extended period... and even still i wouldn't call tailgating a solution
This doesn't seem quite right to me. The Sentra is obviously in a hurry. The police car blocks the passing lane, pacing the other driver. That's provocation. If that was not a police car, people would be saying that blocking the Sentra was a dick move. If you want to pass, get in the left lane, pass, then go back to the right lane. The driver of the police car was intentionally trying to get the driver of the Sentra to do something wrong. If the cop just really wanted to pull this car over and give them a ticket, then they should have let the Sentra pass and then get them for speeding.
I hate when people tailgate , I got a big piece of paper that says " tailgating is rude " I show it to drivers that tailgates me when they pass me on other lanes . I wish I could get a bumper sticker that says " tailgating is rude " because it's better than brake checking drivers for tailgating .
It's not tail-gating . . . . . . it's DRAFTING and that was a CLEAN PASS on the outside ! They didn't even trade paint - - I can't believe the Officials are reviewing the incident.
Over 42,000 people were killed in car wrecks in the U. S. last year, and until police turn off the radars and start enforcing ALL traffic laws, those numbers are only going to continue to get worse. Aggressive driving, often in the form of tailgating, is what causes accidents. Careless driving is a close second, and it's easy to pick out careless drivers. They are the ones who won't keep right, who rarely signal turns, lane changes, merges and exits, who drive with their parking light on or with no lights on at all when everyone else has theirs on, who creep forward at red lights, who don't come to a complete stop at stop signs and before turning right on red, who make illegal, improper turns into the far lane, etc...
I remember someone tailgating me on the freeway several years ago. I was heading to work real early so I was out there at 4:30 in the morning so there’s barely anyone cars around. I’m pretty much a go with the flow driver but in this case since it was so early I just stayed at the normal 65speed limit on the slow lane. At some point this driver in a mini van shifted to the slow lane going at 80+ from what I could tell from my rear view mirror. I literally was monitoring the speed because I saw them change lanes quite a ways back. Anyways they end up right behind me. There’s no nearby exits or any other cars around so I’m like wtf? If you want to go fast just stay on the other 3 mostly open left lanes. They did not move and kept tailgating. I’m like whatever and just kept under the speed limit. I even pumped the brakes a few times to scare them lol. At some point they got to an exit but I was thinking what an a$$hole. Lol.
Attention, people of the world: Police vehicles in North America include (but are not limited to) the following: Ford Crown Victoria Ford Explorer Dodge Charger Ford Taurus (police interceptor) Chevy Caprice (sister to the Chevy SS) Chevy Tahoe Also be on the lookout for constable/unmarked vehicles which can be anything, but commonly cars like PPV Durangos, F150s or Expeditions. I got pulled over by a state trooper in an unmarked G35 many years ago, so honestly, they could be in any car.
Calgary, Canada (where this is set) has the following police vehicles: Ford Explorer Ford Sedan F150s SWAT Truck Many types of mobile command centre vehicles and more
@@jamesdutchman8862 agreed. Yet the police officer was trained on human behavior. That is... how people will react to a given stimuli. By placing his police car in the left lane, the officer knew at some point he would be tailgated. One of the main reasons for the law banning cars in the left lane was for this reason directly. In other words, the officer was trolling... looking to piss off a driver using the left to pass other cars. Then when the driver reacted, the officer had a legal reason to cite the driver of the car. My lawyers would have had a field day with this in a court of law!
You have to be legally blind to not notice those huge strobe lightbars in the top of the rear windshield, in which case you shouldn't be driving anyway...
First thing I said when I placed my eyes on that: That's a cop car. And I didn't even realize what model it was, the lights alone gave it away. That dude was sleeping.
Officer: You know why I pulled you over? Karen: You was in the fast lane going slow so of course I had to tailgate you to speed up or move over but you didn't! (Screaming at the top of her lungs) 😂🤣
I dont understand why people tailgate in the first place where is their logic I feel like if someone gets a ticket for tailgating they should get a suspended license for at least 1 year and for second offenses the license should be revoked because it is extremely dangerous what if there are babies in the back??
@@DeathhAngel1 If you’re in a hurry, leave earlier? If you tailgate on purpose, you’re either uneducated and poor with no social status to lose or have some mental issues regarding anger management.
Thats what I am saying. Im all all tailgater justice and I hate them with a passion, but everyone in here is yelling justice was served but the cop clearly was going too slow. He obviously baited him/her. Maybe this is another country and different laws apply.
@@DirtySteve426 the police car is using the left lane to pass the red car, he’s passing the red car right when the other car is tailgating him. This is what always happens to me too. I move left to pass the cars in the right lane and someone always STILL tailgates me even though I’m using the lane for the intended purpose and moving right immediately after. The car doesn’t even give the cop a chance to move back over after passing
It is a passing lane not a "fast" lane. The speed limit applies to the passing lane. Police are expected to obey speed limit signs unless responding to an emergency or pursuing.
The left lane is not for speeding, ever. It is illegal to speed, period. If you need to pass someone who is going slower than the speed limit, you use the left lane. Otherwise, sit your feisty ass in the right lane like a good little punk. If you are riding someone's ass, you are probably going too fast.
Tailgaters should be charged with putting lives in danger. Mandatory six months imprisonment plus another six months for every vehicle within 200 feet. Need to stop being so lenient and give a real reason for people to stop being morons.
I do 65 on the freeway sometimes 70 cruise control in the slow lane always get where I need to be on time if not early I don't understand people who Rush to get behind someone or rush just to get to a stoplight.
My TV teacher Bill Elliott (no NASCAR connection) shot downtown Toronto night traffic scenes to be used as filler between sign off and sign on in the middle of the night on Global TV.. Basically what you are seeing here without the flashing lights. I guess he was ahead of his time because the ratings were solid and he couldn't believe it.
This reminds me when i was being tailgated by a van in a street near a park, it was late at night and I making my way to pick up my dad, then i see big ass fan back of me and sticking close at a 30 mph street, i tried to calm myself as we were going down the street, the they turn on the left lane and then speed towards the lane i was on (without using signals in damn dark of night). Very fortunately, there was a cop car behind the van who caught up to the van and stopped them at a gas station. Ah sigh of fucking relief now I’d wished the did that to other bastard drives who keep tailgating me on a fucking 30mph street
"now I’d wished the did that to other bastard drives who keep tailgating me on a fucking 30mph street" .........Maybe you should wish for better spelling and grammar.
I'm scared to tailgate because what if the driver in front of me has to suddenly hard- brake, and I don't respond quickly enough? No matter how frustrating another driver on the road might be, it's not worth the risk of driving recklessly.
Like those stupid drivers that see you pulling out to make a turn and then they speed up like your supposed to wait for them to pass by I always pull right out in my 16,700 pound F550 dump truck and they lock there brakes up usually giving me the finger and tailgating me after I just drive and listen to the radio.....
To be honest, that was a dick move by the cop, cruising in the passing lane and not passing. He would have gotten the ticket had the roles been reversed.
Once I had a driver in a white Chevy Malibu purposely cut me off at night. I laid in my horn and my brakes. Luckily a police officer was 2 cars behind us. Pulled them over and I laughed all the way home.
The Explorer has taken over for the Crown Vic these days. The civilian Sport model, in particular, looks a lot like an unmarked unit from the front and back, especially in blue. In any case, the driver got what they deserved.
And another modern vehicle, popular with especially SP/HP agencies, is the current Charger. It's to the point when I see a retail base model Charger, I think it's police
As soon as I saw that SUV type vehicle I recognised it. Quite common in America now too, so no excuse to be that thick. Oh yeah, this video could have started about 0:47, the bit before that is just unnecessary, so is that cheesy jingle throughout 🥴
For sure. Video was in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. No update though, because i just randomly caught it in my dashcam and decided to post it as reminder to other motorist. Thanks!
How do you do that? How do you grab a video you see on RU-vid and add it to your own RU-vid channel? My kids played a song in church. The church video is one hour long. But I just want to grab the 2minutes they were performing and add the 2min clip to my channel. I’ve been trying to figure it out but gave up. Does it require purchased software? Can you guide me?
@@tubetonka You need to have an editing software to be able to do that. Some of them have 10-days trials. Maybe Vegas Pro has some kind of trial too. And there are tutorials on RU-vid on how to use the software. Good luck!
The cop Brake checked the driver, then pulled him over after the guy went around him. I think he pulled him over for speeding, as the speed limit was only 50mph on that stretch of road. Assuming every one else was going 50mph, he was defiantly speeding. Just an old and retired LEO's opinion.
That driver was very stupid. The cop lights were very obvious when lighted with the headlights. But we have a lot of these stupid drivers in Alberta. I'm sometimes getting tailgated even when I'm on the right lane on the freeway. How hard is it to just pass me instead of licking my rear and risking rear-ending me?
We have those drivers in Manitoba too. But I’ve learned to be extra careful near Alberta plate vehicles driving here. Is blinker fluid illegal in Alberta?
Working as a delivery driver for Domino's some time ago, had a big black GMC pickup tailgating me. Traffic was dense, and knowing the cops wouldn't pull me over while I was working, I thought I would be curteous and speed up for him. I cranked it up from 45 to 50. He kept pace, so I hit 60. He got closer. So I hit 70. He was so close at this point, I couldn't see the GMC on his grill. I was trying to be nice, but this guy was trying to piss me off. He succeeded brilliantly. I break checked him hard. I was shocked he didn't hit me. Dude got so pissed, he ran me off the road and jumped out of his truck, screaming for me to get out so he could punch me. I pulled my buck knife, and made it plainly clear that I would murder him right there in the street. He very quickly ran off and sped away with his very small tail between his shaking legs, which probably had a little pee river now. You don't mess with pizza delivery.
I’ve been driving since 1970. I can spot a cop car anywhere. I spot the unmarked ones also. I will admit that I’m a fast driver. A study was done and it runs in your DNA. I’ve traveled to every state in the US. I’ve been in Mexico and Canada. When I was younger I was taking my dad to cancer center and drove through Chicago. If you didn’t move it, you got ran over. New York and well a lot of big cities. Drive or get ran over. I have passed a cop. No pull over. I wasn’t being stupid in my driving either. If you can drive safely and move it, then do so. I do not tailgate. If I get a ticket, well then my fault. I guess you can tell what a driver I am. I’ve never had an accident or a ticket in all of these years.
