3 years ago (2020) I used this video as an tutorial to dye my locs. 3 years later .. I’ve restarted my locs & I STILL came back to this video to help me dye it again 😂❤️
Thank you for sectioning your hair! So many people that dye their locs on RU-vid don’t and it hurts my soul. They end up missing a lot of spots because they don’t go strand by strand.
Just finished doing my hair honestly i was afraid it wasn’t going to work because I believe i put to much developer in my mix but after washing it out im extremely happy with it ... thanks for this video
Thanks for sharing your video. I just recently cellophane dyed of my locs burgundy, but my Loctician bleached my ends 1st. Which made the Burgundy color pop. My hair is shoulder length but when she re-twisted my locks back up, my hair was shorten by a couple inches 😮. I watched your video, on how you, dyed your hair and locked it back up. Your hair was shortened as well after it was re twisted. That very moment, I started to feel some relief . I was thinking that some of my hair may have broken off during the cellophane dying process.😂
Thank you! I left it on for a looooong time tho and i used the highest developer that’s probably why! My natural hair color is also a dusty medium brown so it didn’t have to lift much. Thanks for watching! ♥️
The final product is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this tip. I have a quick question tho-please, do you know if this developer trick would work with semi-permanent colors? New subbie here, btw.
Thanks so much! I’m not sure if it would work with semi permanent dye, just because that color mostly just sits on top of your hair shaft vs a box dye that actually opens the shaft and deposits the color. I’m not hair professional tho, you could try it out! Thanks for watching
Hey your locs look real good. I been wanting to do instant locs for a minute but I've seen them on some people and they look mad stiff. Was that the case with yours and they just softened up over time? and do you palm roll the length of the loc when you retwist or do you maintain with crochet?
Hey, thank you! They were very stiff at first but after a few washes they softened and shaped themselves accordingly. And i palm roll mostly just my root honestly, the length of my locs is pretty much Loc’d at this point so no need to crochet! Sometimes i palm roll all the way down sometimes i don’t just depends on what my locs are looking like as far as frizz lol. Thank you for watching! I’m an instant loc advocate! ✨
Hi kaaylachelle my name is precious i dye my instant Locs for the first time myself and wow i was dyeing my instant Locs i dye my scalp also how long do it take to get the dye off your scalp writ back PB
Hey Mama! I'm gonna try this method to touch up on my old red that's turning orange/bronze. Would using volume developer 20 on my pre-colored hair be the best move?
Hi love!! I personally only have used 30 & 40 so I’m not sure how effective 20 would be. However if your hair is already precolored, I’m sure the 20 volume would be okay! I’m no cosmetologist tho so don’t quote me😂✨
I’m not sure what the instructions said but i definitely left it on longer than they recommended lol but i wanted my color to be vibrant so i took the risk!
Yours came out really beautiful!! I tried it ....smh let's jus say its nit intense red..ugh. I wanted it bright like urs...do it depend on how much developer u use??
Thank you! I use a lot of developer i like my consistency to be a little loose i feel like it stretches the dye more. It also depends on what volume developer i used the highest volume!
@@kaaylachelle1277 thx u for responding lol...ima use more of the 40 then or try 50 nxt time. I cant wait for some weeks to go by because ima try again
i’ve been wanting to find a safe way to lift , and dye my locs ! is there any other details that i should know in regards to this method ? ( color looks stunning btw :) )
Nope! It was super simple, the video explains everything i did! And my hair didn’t change in texture or anything afterwards. The only optional thing is which volume developer you want to use. I chose 40 because it would lift my hair the most and the fastest, but lower volumes are healthier for your hair but take longer and may not lift as much so it’s up to you! Thanks for watching! ✨
I think the brand i used only carries more natural colors! For brighter colors like blue and green i usually see people lift their hair first then apply color on prelightened hair. But I’m not cosmetologist! I’d say do some research ♥️
No ma’am! I always dye dirty hair, never clean hair. I’m not sure what’s the technical logic behind that but that’s what i was told when i was younger lol
Awesome video your locks are beautiful My hair is like yours and I didn't want to use bleach at all lol I never use ut in my hair and I found your RU-vid Channel I daid yesssss Come on nowww 😂😂 bc I did it one time before where I didn't use bleach and it came out pretty good I dont no why I was doubting Myself I guess bc an associate was like you need bleach and I was like I just cant but Thanks New subbie🌞
I actually haven’t washed my hair since dying it, it’s about to time for me to wash so I’ll see soon. It probably does fade the more you wash tho! I hear that red dye fades fast
Hey babe! I have no idea 🥺 I’m no cosmetologist anything i do with my hair is experimental. I would say maybe 30 since your hair has already been lightened to play it safe!
Yes it’s a little safer! Bleaching powder will always be worse than a box dye but they both have lifting agents so it’s still slightly damaging either way!
@@kierrahouston5412 yes I used to color my hair frequently. Now I have locs 6-7 months young and I’d locs to color my hair since that’s meeeee but am stuck between just being natural and funky
@@kaaylachelle1277 so I can just use developer ??? I started my loc journey a year ago and a couple years before I used bleach and my hair fell out so I'm scared to use bleach again to lighten my hair to use the colors I want . Your video is really helpful 😊 and I love your locs
Bridgy Hairston I’m no cosmetologist but in my experience, adding developer to a box dye does lift your hair. Bleaching powder obviously would be brighter and faster but I’ve used box dyes on my hair before locs and have never had a problem with breakage! All color treated hair needs to be moisturized of course, but to me it’s safe!
