The manual said not to use aluminum foil ... but I covered the bottom over the heating elements during the rotisserie mode, and clean up was SO easy. (this was the suggestion from someone else). I also covered the drip tray with another piece of foil. What do you think?
The drip pan only fits with VERY small fryer size chickens. Luckily, the burners aren't centered under the rotisserie spit, so most of the drippings miss them entirely. Mine doesn't get overly smoky when used in that manner.
I use it as an oven way more than I originally planned too! Especially if it's hot outside or if I've got something else in my main oven at a different temperature.
