Excellent video! Thank you! Another idea.... My grandma always told me if you like a recipe but don't like said protein stated in recipe just change the protein and adjust seasoning to taste. That advice has never failed me till this day! I enjoy your channel. Keep the videos comin' . Watching from Hawaii! Stay blessed!
I made this for lunch today, didn't have any cooking sherry and didn't add any meat because I don't care much for seafood and no bacon or sausage in the house but I do have my own frozen corn... Your recipe is awesome! Thank you for sharing it. I will keep making this, it's so easy and yummy!
I have had my IP for 3 weeks and so far every recipe I have made is from Jeff. Thanks for your ideas, humor, and just being you! When I was “belled” that you have a new video, stopped everything to watch. Can’t wait to make this! Love to you and your family.
I just made this. I put in 24 oz. of corn and two cans of lump crab. I used all the spices suggested, but I doubled the pepper and used a half tsp.of the Zatarain. That stuff is in fact magical, and if I do this again I'll probably use a full tsp. I also used 4 cups of broth because I like my chowders to have enough liquid to slurp. Verdict: it's very good. It'll be even better tomorrow after resting overnight. You should always let your soups and chowders rest overnight, because like aging cheese or wine they only get better - much better - with a little rest.
I tried this chowder tonight. I wasn't real careful about my measurements... I'm sure I started with more of the initial veggies and I needed twice as much of the slurry to get any real thickening to happen. Still only one can of crab, so it was more of a condiment than anything else. And it was FABULOUS! It was tasty, savory, a little peppery, and downright amazing. I'll definitely do it again, next time with more crab meat! Thanks for the recipe and instructions, this was only the second time I've used my new Instant Pot and it was a real success!
Yum! Can't wait to use this recipe! This will certainly be a hit with my husband, as we both love corn, crab AND The Golden Girls! 😊 Thank you for all of your delicious recipes! You are AWESOME!
I am so glad I found your channel last weekend. My first meal was the Mississippi Pot Roast. It was delicious. My husband enjoyed it so much he located your channel himself while he was at the firehouse and sent me 10 video links. So this is my second meal. We are from New Orleans so we live for WELL SEASONED food. About to eat right NOW. I think one of the chicken dishes will be next. Thanks again!
Great recipe! Just made it tonight! I put fresh precooked white fish instead. Did not have lawrys so I used a little creole seasoning. Didn’t have bay so I used basil flakes. It turned out great!!! Hubby loved it!!
This is my second time making your recipe and it reminds me of a Pollo Locos corn chowder except they did not put crab meat in it it is wonderful and I will continue to use your recipe I had to cut it in half because I made too much the first time.
Looks Divine!!! Husband is home sick with Bronchitis! I'll make this in a few days... Don't want him to have dairy and hack up the other lung! Loves and Snuggles to Sweetums Banjo puppy! Oh and to you and Richard too! ❤
Awesome recipe Jeffrey! I added 1 pound of lump backfin crabmeat and 1 pound of cooked shrimp cut in small pieces. one of my favorites. thanks for making the Instant Pot so enjoyable
Just made this today and it was awesome! Used half and half instead of heavy cream, a green pepper instead of red (just what I had) . I only used one can of crab meat...next time I will use two. I didn’t have seasoned salt so I just added regular salt and some of the spices I had that makes it. Overall though it came out really well...my grandma wanted me to leave her a container for lunch tomorrow haha!
Another awesome recipe! You are amazing...love your dishes, love your eyeglasses, love your channel! Thanks for another great idea to expand my cooking repertoire....Oh, and I love your dog!
Finally made this tonight (5/14). Absolutely wonderful. I substituted the cooking sherry with white wine. This was a well balanced chowder without any one ingredient taking over the flavors. Keeping this as a serve again meal!
Truthfully, I watch all your videos whether or not I would ever make them. I was all ready to turn my nose up at this one 'cause I'm not really a big fan of seafood. However, since your crab addition was canned, I've decided I might give it a try.
Made this recipe, with the addition of crab meat, and it was so delicious!!! Leftovers for dinner tonight. OMG, it was so good, my boyfriend raved about it off and on last night and he's doing it again. Lol. This will definitely be a "do over".
Again, looks simply amazing! Go figure, I find your channel right when there’s Covid 19 strikes and all my supermarkets are wiped out for ingredients that I need. I did order a bunch of stuff on Amazon but it won’t be here till next week. Thanks again for putting this together, will be nice to find some new dishes while quarantining!
OK, you convinced me! I have to try that. Also, what size Insta-Pot do you use for these recipes? It would be good to know that before trying an 8-qt recipe in a 6-qt pot! :-) . Thanks for the great videos!
This recipe sounds awesome and will have to give it a try tomorrow. Can this chowder be frozen and if so for how long? Your recipes are awesome and I look forward to the next one.
Laid up in the hospital for now, thank goodness for your vids. Definitely will make this when I get out. I’m spreading the IP Gospel According to Jeffrey while I’m here. You’ll be getting some more subscribers when I’m done.
Jeffery, you keep sharing one knock out meal after another. I've made many of your recipes and I've yet to eat a bad one. They are all delicious! Thank you so much!!! ( I love reading your frig magnets, sure I'm not the only one ) Making your shrimp scampi tonight for friends. Your dog is adorable! Best wishes to your family. ( by the way, wheres the Makers Mark bottle you use to keep on the counter in your old kitchen? ) Markers Mark RULES ( with ginger ale )
This sounds do-able for me. We had some wonderful corn chowder at Max n Erma's restaurant. I did figure out some of it. I know it had roasted corn and roasted red peppers. That's not the issue. We (hubby n me) loved this chowder. If I switched out the crab for chicken what changes would be made for the seasonings? Can I still use the old bay?
I’d use oyster crackers instead of croutons. I would also use the season salt or the Old Bay, not both. Both are quite salty and both together would be too much for my family. It does look really good though. If someone doesn’t want to use seafood they could use bacon or sausage instead.
This looks fabulous! I have a similar recipe that I make on the stove, but it uses chicken and cheddar cheese. So people who don't like seafood might try some chicken.
Everything about this recipe is great, except that I am confused on one point. In a number of your recipes you list crab or shrimp as an ingredient...did you mean to say andouille sausage? Just wondering, because it always tastes great when I make the substitution. And, of course, a dash or two, or three of Tony C.'s cajun seasoning!
Hmm. Gonna do this and add some cubed chicken breast at the start. It should easily cook through in the 5 minutes pressure cooking time. I'm a chicken corn chowder kind of guy!
