Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for watching this video! Make sure you check out my next video, 26 Instant Pot Tips, Tricks, Hacks, and Facts! I guarantee you won't know at LEAST one of them!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--5Z6NeBxnhY.html i've been working on my videos and I think you'll really like this next one! - Lisa
I have the 3 quart instant pot and I love it. I think it’s perfect for a single person, college student or a couple. I considered getting a 6 qt, but that was just my inner shopaholic talking, lol.
I actually went with an 8 qt simply for a few reasons. I like have a little extra breathing room in case I decide to make a little extra. I also tend to make meals that I can have for a few days. Money being tight and my desire to not have to cook for myself every day since I work overnights, I like to have lots of leftovers. I also tend to share with coworkers and family.
I’m a mom of five boys ages 24, 21,18, 14,and 8. All my friends think I’m crazy because I don’t have an internet pot yet! Your video helped me to decide on what size I need! Thanks so much!❤️
I have both the 6 qt & 8 qt. I use the six more often but when doing a large pork roast for making tamales they wont fit the 6 Qt. Tamales also work great in an Instapot and freeze well. I live alone but things like a big batch of tamales freeze well and are great for a quick lunch or snack so that's when the big guy comes out to play. Also multiple racks of ribs and whole corn work better in the 8 . Thank you for what you do.
I went with the 8qt pot initially. At first it was because we had a 5-person family. Now that my wife and I are empty nesters, I still use the 8qt and I get a lunch or two for the work week. Still a great video.
pukwudjivc , I wish I had gone with the bigger one. If you find the larger one too big (though for most things, it wouldn't be), you can always do pot in pot. The cooker stays cleaner that way, too.
Love your videos! Just bought an instant pot this week. Also, never put amazon boxes on a kitchen counter! It’s very dirty and dusty in the warehouse and your box has bathed in all that dirt and dust. I work there and it’s insane lol.
Big facts. Then it goes in a dusty truck and they set it on the ground outside the home. Lol, I never put boxes and packages on my bed or the kitchen counter.
I gave my 6 qt to my brother. The 8qt is a great size for cooking ahead for 2. Just takes a little more water to pressurize, but no reason to get at 3 or 6 qt if you cook ahead.
I just bought a 3 quart Instant Pot - since I am cooking in it only for me. A chicken breast or two, or maybe a leg quarter... Perfect for the single person, college student... Thanks so much for the comparison.
I have the 8 quart because I. On a medically restricted diet and I have to cook for the entire week. So I make things and just change the sauces a bit.
I want to gift one for my mom, but I’m not sure which size would be more optimal/less of a hassle. This really helped out, especially with my inexperience with cooking!
I have the mini 3 quart, mainly use it for vegetables and sides. Paired with an Optigrill that I use for meats and fish, it's a godsend combination that makes cooking delicious and healthy meals ultra easy. If you have more than 2 people though, I would go with the 6 quart.
Hi Lisa, I just found your channel and so glad I did! You explain things so well and break them down into understandable parts, its great! I was looking to purchase an Instant Pot and had no idea which one, or how they work and felt a little intimidated by them. But your videos put everything in perspective and you give confidence where it is needed. So grateful to have found (and subscribed) to your youtube channel! Thank you and keep those videos coming!
Thank you for this video! I find it very helpful. I'm so happy I found your youtube channel. I live by myself and I'm very busy with work, almost 6 days a week sometimes of working doesn't give me enough time and energy to cook everyday, so I usually cook good for a week and I just store them in the freezer or fridge. I'm glad you mentioned about getting the 6 quarter to start with. It's my first time buying it and I'm torn which one to own first since I am also limited with kitchen storage with my small apartment. This video has really helped me decide. Thank you Lisa.❤️
Well I was hoping that you would address the 3qt non stick pot issues with major defect in the coating coming off and general low quality compared to the larger sizes!
Love your channel! My 6 qt Instant Pot Duo arrived 4 days ago... It didn't come with the scoops or rice cups. 🤨 But I already have multiples of each 😁 And it came with a 300+ page hardcover cookbook 😀
I recommend directly adding an Amazon affiliate link here on this video. It is still relevant and I was about to click your link on purpose but didn't find one. Cheers :)
cant you just buy a few more inserts,as your cooking, take out the done one and insert a n empty one and cook with that,i think it would be cheaper and space saving
I have a 6 qt instapot , but I bought 2 more inserts. Very useful. You can also keep instapot cooked meal in fridge, don't need a instapot cover, just cover with a dinner plate and you can even stag more stuff on top of the dinner plate.
Today i just bought 3qt mini latest version which have start button function...i Chose mini bcoz i just for myself... some more im staying in hotel room past few months so buying bigger one is not suitable and it cost alot since i cook for 1 pax..I will get my pot by nex week Thursday and cant wait to try lite cookings
I’m wondering if each size takes different times for coming to pressure or cooking. I have the 3 quart and that’s about 10min to come to pressure when I cook rice. Would the 8 quart taker longer to come to pressure or have different cooking time?
I am new to the instant pot, I have been looking for all in one features to replace a lot of appliances I looked at the terminals and they are quite expensive. I'm looking for sous vide, pasta, cake, steam, ferment, can and etc. Can you please guide me in the right direction? I enjoy watching you and I was going to consider an air fryer however, I have one already and I watched you cook with one, I truly love your site💓Thank you for sharing your experiences and appliances, and recipes❤HappybEaster🐰🐇
@@Lisa.Childs Pressure cooker or instant Pot? Which one is better and the best? Is there any that cook creamy lentil/oatmeal porridge without me stirring? Thanks
( *How* much different?) It's bigger, naturally. Two quarts, to be precise. I have the 8 qt. Duo Nova. I like mine just fine, but I am cooking for just my dad and myself (and an occasional guest or two). The 8 qt. pots are big enough to cook a whole chicken, I'm not sure the 6 qt. versions can do that. I have considered investing in another I.P.... if I did it would likely be a 6 qt. (or another 8 qt.) rather than the 10 qt. model.
Hi I’m new user with instant pot .I bought from Amazon it was instant pot duo evo plus 8 qt.and I did not get a cheat sheet,a recipe book. So I have found you on you tube to help me with the accessories and recipes
I love your reviews and comments. I would like to know if you have used the Gourmia GPC800 ExpressPot Electric Digital Multipurpose Pressure Cooker. That's the one I purchased and I would like to know your opinion.
Hello I love how you explain the difference size nice but my questions are my sister I and I want to buy Instant pots but which Instant posts do you recommend ?because there are so many differences kinds of Instant pots. we just buy best qualities with good pressure cooking please reply I really want to buy one Instant pot the best that comes with everything's thank you
hi ,i have an 8 quart duo nova instant pot, when i put the lid on i dont have to do anything,it seals to pressure automatically ,my son picked this out for me,i was so happy and amazed ,its my first instant pot,i love everything about it,i dont have to worry about forgetting to seal for pressure because it does it on its own,i think if your a first timer like i am,duo nova is the one,i think anyways, its so easy
PATTY PERRY , Thanks! I went to their website, and they don't exactly lay out the differences between the five instant pot duos they have on the site, let alone the differences between all the instant pots, regardless of size.
I need to know what size to buy to cook a 6lb. Whole chicken or a whole pork butt. It’s just the 2 of us but I still cook these things for us and freeze.
Can I plug in the instant pot and a multi cooker to the same power socket with a multi socket plug? Or does the instant pot require the whole power outlet to itself?
I recently bought the 3 quart because I just cook for myself and have limited counter space. It works great for me for porridge, soups, grains, beans and yogurt. If you like cooking large batches of foods to freeze you would need a bigger pot. I haven't tried it, but it looks like making instant pot cheese cake needs to be made in a 6 quart.
Thanks for this review- so so helpful! One question i had on the yoghurt setting- what is the max time setting for this? Can you ferment yoghurt for 24hrs? (GAPS protocol uses 24 hr yoghurt so thought i'd check if this is possible)
Yes. Pick the yogurt mode regular (110F)) and it will show 8 hours. Then push the plus button until you get to 24:00. The low heat mode (100 F or 97F I think) mode defaults to 24 hrs and you can move the regular mode up to 24:00 from the default 8:00.
The Instant pot is a brand name of an electric pressure cooker. It's like the standard right now, which is why you may be confused. Not all tissues are actually Kleenex, not all plastic storage containers are Tupperware, not all jeans are Levi's, and not all electric pressure cookers are Instant Pots.
I just recieved my Instant Pot today, Dec. 4. I looked but didn't find a video by you on the Instant Pot Duo Crisp., but that's the model I bought. I went with the 8 qt. for the simple reason that it was cheaper than buying a 6 qt. Instant Pot and then spending an extra $80 dollars for the crisper lid for that size. I am interested in seeing you record a video of the Crisper being used, and your opinion on it. Hopefully if you try it and do like it, you can help convince Instant pot to put out a 6 qt. Crisp model, because this 8 qt is a true monster. Fortunately I like to bulk cook, then freeze the extra for later.
I have a question. I have an 8 quart pressure cooker. It is not an instapot but I dearly love it. I want my second pressure cooker to be an instapot but I am conflicted between the 6 quart and the 3 quart. Eventually I,want all 3 sizes but it will,be a while before I purchase the 3rd one. I,am thinking since I already have an 8 quart, I should get the 3 quart but does the 3 quart get much use? I want to start making yogurt for sure, but do you use tour 3 quart for anything else?
Nice video, but I would recommend the 8 quart or now even the 10 quart. Why? Well you can only fill them about 2/3 of the way for one. If space isn't a factor you can do everything in the larger instant pots you can do in the smaller ones. Finally, I'm single but I make huge batches of food and then freeze many meals. This is super convenient. I have the 8 quart and have not regretted it at all. 10 quart was not available when I purchased mine or I would have bought the 10 quart.
Whatever you do DO NOT buy the 3 quart. I get when your a single person but still you never know if you need more. My story: I have myself and 1 child (15 yrs old) I got the 3 quart and now trying to sell it to buy a 6 qt because we like pork roast,BBQ ribs, and meatloaf in instant pot. Problem: yeah sure i can make a small amount but then there isn't any leftovers. My problem: I work 2 jobs and am not going to cook everyday. so my kid will usually have leftovers the next day. but some items we make we barely have enough for one meal for the both of us. For example: when i make pork roast we add vegetables to it and can barely put a few potatoes and such in it. When I make BBQ ribs with the bones you can't put much in a 3 qt. So even if you're a single person, unless you know for fact you will stay single, and never have guests, DO NOT get the 3 qt. Any single person wanna buy a 3 qt. I got one for sale only 4 months old.
It's just me so the 3 qt is perfect. I might get a 6 qt in the future for large meal preps for the week. I mostly meal prep rice, dried beans, sweet potatoes, vegetables, oats, and lentils. For soups, stews and curries. I love curries!
Great job on the video, Lisa! We also decided on the 6 qt Duo, a Star Wars R2D2 special edition that Williams-Sonoma had on sale. We’ve been amazed at the quality of the foods that can be made in it, and the speed at which you can make them! You make a great point on having more than one... within a week we ordered a second 6 qt so we could do multiple meal items at the same time. The addition was a Darth Vader version, so now our Instant Pots can cover both sides of The Force at once. Balanced meals. :)
5:19 What's the best Instant Pot to get? 5:50 What a cool tip about the lid! 🙌 We never knew... but will probably never set the lid on the counter again!
8 qt. There's a new model with crisper. I believe one can cook 2 dishes at once Some stores have accessories. Incl The glass lid req for using as crock pot.
I don't think that the lid thing is a tip so much as it is a feature, like the yogurt button. I do wonder, though, if it drips steam and food particles down the side and onto the counter. I bought the instant pot, and I prefer to just put the drippy lid on the counter.
Honey Im sitting outside of my local Target going to look at what kinds of Instant Pot models they have to buy for my mothers birthday in a few days. Im very happy I came across your review videos, you are helpful and knowledgeable. This I appreicate, b/c I really had no clue which kind I would go with. I believe the Duo will be right for our household. And this is our first one, we look forward to trying it. Thank you for your advice I look forward to seeing how my meals turn out!!💕🙌🏾 🌈 #newsubbie
Got the 6 since it’s me and my husband. I love it! I use it for cooking pasta since my stove takes a long time to get water to a boil. It’s really easy to use. Just takes a couple uses to get the hang of it.
I’m still planning on buying my first instant pot. Living alone, my expectation was to get the 3 quart. I am now leaning toward getting the six quart just because it’s the one that fits the air fryer lid. Just concerned about storage space in my little kitchenette.
I was hoping you were going to discuss the various models since there are quite a few (Lux, Duo, Duo Evo, Duo Nova, Ultra, Smart, etc.). I doubt the average cook would have more than 1 Instant Pot. Many of us don’t have the room so it becomes important to make the best choice the first time.
Hi Den! I should have added that to my video but my whole blog post summarizes what you're looking for. I talk about the different models, and the main differences between them on the post! triedtestedandtrue.com/which-instant-pot-to-buy/
Love your videos. I just got mine a couple of months ago and I’m buying one for my sister for Xmas. I will share your channel with her. I bought the 8qt and I’m glad I did because I have lots of extra meals that I can freeze.
Hi, Lisa. Another suggestion is that if you’re near a Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can a 20% coupon when you get on their mailing list or texts. Perfect to buy appliances.
When deciding to try an Instant Pot, I was using Kohl’s Cash, so bought a 4 quart Zavor pot for a great sale price. There’s just my husband and me, and I’d been using a 4 quart slow cooker after giving away my 6 quart slow cooker as too large. The surprise is how much more I can do with an Instant Pot, so now I’m really thinking I need to add a 6 quart model, an extra inner pot, more seals, and one of those (or more) plastic lid covers for marinating meat. Finding your channel is such a wonderful blessing. Now I can make better choices about those purchases!! Thank you for all your knowledge and wisdom.
