no matter how many times i do a rewatch and get to this episode, i will always believe that the writers chose to put tommy with sadie and jude with jamie because of the age difference in the series. tommy knew the lines were crossed the MOMENT jude kissed him in episode one. he tried and failed to fight his feelings for jude literally forcing this girl to pretend like their kiss never happened. though they consistently flirted throughout the season, there was no real chemistry with tommy and sadie. this entire season was literally sadie living out any teenaged girls dream about being with a hot ex-member of a boy-band one who may have been a bit too friendly might i add. it was scenario where one person wanted someone that didn’t want them. truthfully, they were just two hot people that got together and didn’t even work out because of tommy’s undeniable feelings for jude. jude only went with jaime because tommy couldn’t tell/ actually be with her like he wanted to and she was exhausted by his games; therefore, his literal only other choice was sadie. as cute as jude and jamie were, they were better off as friends. they didn’t even last in season two. kat was for sure written out to make space sms’s storyline so i feel like writers just chose to live out the jude and jamie storyline for the sake of his character as sme was going to be manage in season two and jude’s main love interest was going to be with someone else. it was pretty clear that it was “i can’t have this, so i might as well take that.” type of scenario.
All of this! Agreed. Watching then vs. now it's super clear to me that Tommy fell for Jude from the beginning, and spent 3 seasons basically trying to stop himself (for lots of reasons, a lot of them being his own personal demons and self-worth issues lol.) Jamie was Jude's placeholder and Sadie was Tommy's.
God, rewatching this as an adult and realizing that Tommy started developing feelings for a FIFTEEN year old before kissing her when she was 16 and fucking with her recently legal but still in high school older sister? I was younger than any of the characters in this show and at the time it just seemed edgy and cool and my GOD am I terrified about what would have happened if a hot 25 year old man expressed an interest in me at the time. I would have been like, “You don’t understand! It’s just like Tommy and Jude in Instant Star!” And so… my kids are not going to be allowed to watch this until after their too old for it to matter lol😂
Why am I 31 and find this is so relatable? Wish they had made Jude TURN 18 on episode 1, all the creepiness (and that's a euphemism really) wouldn't be there.
"do u care about her more then me " Yes Jude he does.. he want you... but the age part hate that she was underage.. if she was 18 around this time, they have a work it out
Jude is 16. That’s the age of sexual consent in most states so they wouldn’t be able to lock him up unless they were able to prove something happened prior to her 16th birthday. But that’s how you know this is an early 2000’s show because now this type of mess would not float on tv 😂😂😂 just like Pretty little liars when the teacher was messing with one of the students.
Okay, so, Tommy & Jude make more sense to me than Tommy & Sadie ever will. Her being 18 and him 22 isn't a common interest. Also starting a relationship with a guy your sister has feelings for, who is too old for her, who kissed her, is shady as hell and a prime reason NOT to trust him. Jamie, Kat, and Shay are underdeveloped characters portrayed by novice actors. The rest of the actors are not great either, but the development IS there. Kat deserves better, Jamie deserves to get hit by a bus (I'm biased, I know). Why the showrunners didn't make Jude 18, Sadie 20, and Tommy 22, I don't know. The show's demographic, I imagine. Oh well, the music is grand, so... 🤷🏽♀️ I'd have had Jude go on Shay's tour, for added tension and more opportunities to shake things up. I see they put Kat "on a bus" never to return and that irritates me. Again: KAT DESERVES BETTER. Also the mom: has no storyline!!!
lol I was reading through everyone's comments and it seems there's a common dislike for Jamie. But I don't get why??? Between Tommy continually screwing up (throughout the show) and sometimes being an ass, I would have liked Jude with a dependable loyal person like Jamie shows to be. Only problem is that the two actor's don't have romantic chemistry but Tommy and Jude do. I just get tired of how often Tommy can come off as an ass.
With every rewatch Jamie and kat get worse and worse. Like there characters don’t land for me separately or together. I blame equally the acting and the writing.
haha right like I always wonder if there is something wrong with me that I really dislike Jamie because I am pretty sure he is supposed to be likeable but I really really don't
@@Goblintooth your right! Lol the writing is forcing what isn’t there like Jamie having zero chemistry with Jude. I can never root for them as a couple over her and Tommy. Idk why they kept trying that storyline over and over again when they can’t sell it.
There's a conversation to be had about the song content sung by teen performers. Like it's fine to express feelings of crushes and such but sometimes Jude sings songs that are older than her which makes us, the audience forget she's just 16.
Im sorry I hold grudges and I know later down the line jude ends up with Tommy but I would of never forgave Tommy never this is so tasteless that he would go for the older sister then waits to she's of age to be with her that's disgusting
i think tommy should have just stuck with sadie he was more her age and was tolerable they should have been end game and jude and jamie should have been end game
lol jude and jamie end game? heck no... jamie is so damn annoying. he gets a little better but god damn he's the worst. plus sadie and kwest end up being the best. maybe jude and someone else but not with jamie... he sucks.
