Crying tears of joy for Jude choosing herself and her career, ten years ago at 15 I was crying for different reasons and I'm so glad I know the difference now.
Same. I was absolutely devastated when she left Tommy to pursue her music career. I was so angry when the finale aired, especially since we didn't get a season five like we were supposed to. But now, while I am still sad they didn't end up together as intended, I understand why Jude did what she did. She needed to find herself on the other side of the world, and discover who she really was an artist without Tommy.
Leaving behind the grown man who lusted after you since you were 15 and proposed to you with an aluminum cap to sign an international record deal. EYEconic.
@Hanna I was one of those people who were not happy, but rewatching this an adult, I now think this is the perfect ending because she definitely needs to experience life and he needs to get his shit together. However, they have such a strong passion for each other that you already know they will never love anyone else, so ultimately, once everyone has done what they need to do, you can tell for sure they will live happily ever after, but this needed to happen first.
@@rhondac.891 Yeah, watching this as an adult, the Tommy and Jude relationship was so unhealthy, and both her attitude of not listening and being open to feedback and being dependent on his every whim and Tommy's way of shutting down every time things got hard was codependent to an extreme level, so I am happier with ending now. They did have chemistry and did make great music together but they needed way more than that to build a healthy relationship. That said, I do think the way she publicly announced her breakup was brutal.
I was a rabid Instant Star fan back in the day but I've recently been rewatching it and only realized this time around... exactly THIS. She was 15 and Tommy was well... not. lol I'm glad she made the decision to leave and go out on her own. I'd love to see where Jude is now and how Tommy faired.
There was supposed to be a season 5, so this isn’t the natural ending. In this instance, yes she chose to pursue her own path and experience life on her own. But Jude and Tommy were always going to be endgame. I feel robbed of season 5 but it’s clear they’ll always find their way back to each other. She’s still jus too young to commit.
Yes me too. When I was younger of course I hated it because I didn't see how toxic their relationship was. But now I see and I'm proud of Jude!!! I mean, I know the show got canceled but this IS a good move for a future season since it recognizes the age difference/life stages difference between Jude and Tom so a season 5 would hopefully showed them growing!
So, the soundtrack releases for this show have been slightly messy for the past years. Seasons 1 and 2 soundtracks are not available for streaming in most countries and seasons 3 and 4 soundtracks barely featured Alexz Johnson's tracks originally already. Her available Instant Star songs are still some of her most played songs on spotify, people still care and cherish those songs and this show's soundtracks. A master collection release with all Alexz songs from the show would be an amazing idea to gather some attention back to it on streaming plataforms, for both the series and the songs. And also would be easier than trying to fix each release properly.
He proposed with a literal trash ring because he 'didn't have one'. Dude was wearing 2 on one hand! Seriously great show and I'm glad they made it available 🙌
Jamie’s growth from lovesick best friend to platonic soulmate is just beautiful. Honestly I think Jamie could be a really great romantic connection for her. He is literally her soulmate while Tommy is more of a twin flame. With Jamie it’s easy, there’s mutual trust and respect. They compliment each other. With Tommy there’s a magnetic connection that’s raw and vulnerable where there’s that constant push and pull.
Ten years later, it's so doesn't feel like an ending actually, cause it feels like in few last episodes they decided to start to mature the characters.... And it kinda got hanging with this episode. And it is a shame, cause I kinda like how imperfect they are to begin with, all of the characters are young and impatient, failing in life, failing in communication and it is very relatable... But eventually they learn, and grow, and it feels like we didn't see the final chapter. Kinda interesting watching this show after so much time, like the production wasn't on top all of the time and some things were a bit corny, but characters are very well written for this kind of small show, I think nowadays even a lot of big famous shows miss it. Usually I hate idea of sequels, but a sequel with same proper writers would really suit this show.
I think it got cancelled due to Jude not wanting to come back. So lame cuz now the lead actress wants to do a "Instant Star movie" bleh it just wouldn't be the same
I'm not even mad about where Jude's story arc ended. At the end of the day, her choosing herself over Tommy was exactly what needed to happen. It was made clear that she still loves him, but needs to be on her own for a bit. I am unimpressed that Spied and Karma's arc ended that way, with an eviction and a lawsuit. I'm also not happy about this whole Sadie/Darius thing that was hinted at suddenly. And NBR finding its first big hit is great, but it would have been great to see even a hint at some real future for Jamie; maybe a new artist signing on, or Kwest extending an olive branch and asking to come work with him? I dunno. I know there was meant to be a season 5, and all of this would have likely been resolved, but it's a bummer that we were left with so many open ended things that kinda went nowhere.
I feel like a movie after all these years would be the ending we all want. Everyone gone for a while, did their own thing and found themselves after a lot of growing up? I’d eat that shit uuuuup
@@rhondac.891Kwest’s storyline definitely is hard to guess. He would’ve been stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don’t think Kwest ever cleared up the argument from the Blue poaching situation. But he probably didn’t want to stay at G Major and watch his boss and ex flirt.
Yes! They could do it similar to Nashville where Jude is an established pop punk star Queen who starts to be pushed out by a younger star. Or something like Empire, where Jude and Tommy are running a record company with lots of drama.
I remember being so frustrated with this ending as a teen but now I totally get it, wouldn't want to be married so young, would love to experience life and the world on my own. Most importantly grow. But, if you feel robbed there's always that mini episode that takes place a few years later, where they're both mature, got their shit and get married. It's canon and no one can take that from me!
I can’t even believe how blinded I was by how toxic tommy really was!!! Lol even Jaime after all they’ve been through he still shows up for her shows and fully supports her. Tommy leaves every time he’s a little bit upset. No wonder he was so attracted to a 16 year old
Alexz said she'd be interested in reviving Instant Star, would love to she it where she's flashfoward and she's now the record label helping/mentoring it's next star.
Definitely ended how it should have regarding Tom and Jude. The dude was unstable af. She was only 18, she did not need that in her life. And honestly, he didn't need that either. If he is at a point where he is ready to mature and look inwards at at his behavior, he should do that on his own and for himself. I hate it when people make changes solely based on others. While their story ended great, everything else was just...like wtf is this with Darius and Sadie? I absolutely get whey things didn't work out with Kwest but this thing with Darius all of the sudden being a creep for his employee is just weird.
I think Sadie and Darius make sense on paper. Sadie is beauty and brains and Darius is powerful and charismatic they are both each other’s type. But the chemistry isn’t there because they didn’t build up this storyline earlier. The audience doesn’t root for them because this attraction to each other came from nowhere.
When I was younger I was I such denial that there was anything wrong with the Jude/Tommy relationship (I was just like swoon Tommy) but wow it is problematic and the show kind of doesn't acknowledge it at all. She needed to leave him so I'm glad it ended the way it did. Although 15 year old me was very upset.
Fan from the start to the end when I was a teenager. This show was it. The Ending killed me. NOW after rewatching the ending is completely how it should be ❤
this ending and this song (The Music) gives me the chills every time even after 10 years, it is so amazing. now I know that Jude/Alexz touched my heart back then because she is so real, so authentic, music had always come from her core, this can be clearly seen and heard in this episode ending (and throughout the whole series ofc). so thank you Istans Star, thank you Alexz, you really added something special to my (and I'm sure that to many many others) life
i used to watch this when i was like 12 hahahaha, and now i decide to watch the entire show again, because i never pass the first season so i was curious. And what can i say? watching the entire show in a row it makes so much sense that at the end she chooses her career and it makes me so happy that she did so, because Tommy is such a fucking red flag, he is so insufferable 😩 i’m very sure my child version would have hate this version so much, but muy adult version LOVES THIS SO MUCH ❤. P.S.: i also love the comment section, just full with love and positivity 🥰.
I love the positive vibes in this chat too. People share their opinions without being mean. It’s a nostalgic feeling having all of these good vibes unlike social media today.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Tommy stayed humiliating Jude publicly. He can handle one public rejection. He knew better than to put her on the spot anyway.
I remember as a teen watching this show and thinking that Tommy and Jude were made to be together. But now looking back I realize how creepy it was that a grown man in his 20s was going after a literal teenager. So glad in the end she thought about her music and herself first.
@@tomcarson985 but that’s not how it ended. Their story ended with them getting back together. Unfortunately we just didn’t get to see it. I think they did do a mini video of them getting married. So we actually did get to see the perfect ending.
I remember the first time I saw this ending, about 10 years ago, and I cried a lot because they didn't stay together in the end, and today I cry for the same thing, hoping that at some point they will meet again, being more mature, and that they will be happy together as they deserve it, but this time, I think the fact that she chose herself and her career was very good, the problem is in the way the characters developed in the last season and of course, I did not like the way Jude broke the news to Tommy.
Jude is only 18. I think she goes to London & has her own adventures like she wanted but goes back to Tommy who owns her heart. Too bad Sadie broke Kwest's heart. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a revival show.
They really don’t make shows like this anymore. Would love for more relatable teen shows to come out. I miss the days of Instant Star and Degrassi. These new shows like 13 Reasons Why and Eurphoria are straight trauma trash.
tommy's right - jude does flip flop on almost everything she says. he gets too upset with it and communicates the wrong way. ultimately i think they should just stay together though. they're always looking for some way to break them up any time they get to a good place. they even did it to sadie and kwest. it's not just this show, but most modern tv shows - they need to keep the drama so they add ridiculous conflict to drum up drama and then break up the characters. it's really stupid. jude didn't need to experience shit by herself, she could and would have happily had experiences with tommy and he would be happy to experience things with her. every time they fight like this it feels forced and unnatural, like their characters aren't meant to do it. bc they're not. the writers just need more ways to boost ratings. it's so annoying.
After re-watching the show as an adult i have to say that Darius is patient as hell. Except for the whole Sadie thing here at the end this guy has put up with so much crap from a bunch of teens who knew nothing and a grown 20-something man child incapable of accepting responsibility and still protecting all of them.
While I agree with the ending, I don't like she way she told him on stage. Granted, he should've given her a minute to speak but she didn't have to end it like that.
I do like Jude putting herself first at the end of the episode. However, I do like fanfics that tell stories of a future that includes Tommy in one degree or another.
It sucks how Darius did Kwest considering he had his back and told him how Blue was poached by KBR. Darius has always been a little shady but he was straight wrong with trying to pursue Sadie right in front of Kwest.
at 20:59 she looks mad at Tommy why is she mad at him he did not do anything except tell her to say they were getting married someone clear this up for me on why she looked mad at him
I don't personally think she looked mad. She looked at him with love but from a distance. I think this ending is showing that she has grown so much and needs to see the world as he did in Boyz attack. She is only 18 and they do clearly love each other but it isn't the right time yet. There was apparently supposed to be a season 5. I think they had an end game type of love, but as she did following him to newbrunswik (I am SO sorry to butcher that if I did) his home town. I think in season 5 he would have pursued and they would have ended up together in the end they both waited for so long to be together, but he was older and they both were not in a healthy situation but a healthy love relationship. I think she said worded it perfectly and just wanted the space to live as the music plays. He always grounded her as he said, but he didn't have that in his younger Rockstar lifestyle and that's what made him become him in the series which I think she needed.
He didn't do anything except being a grown ass man grooming her since she was 15, treating her like crap, being absolutely toxic and horrible to her, messing with her sister, being unreliable, cruel, running away all the time, getting her in trouble, putting her in danger... I mean, did you even watch the show? Their relationship was SO messed up and wrong, I'm glad she chose herself and left that pedophile behind and went off to live her life.
I was so pissed she didn’t choose Tommy back then. As an adult and all the BS he put her through. They were toxic and at different points in there lives he is ready to settle and she’s just getting started
Horrible ending… Watched most of the series at 20 years old and watching the finale just now. They should’ve ended up together. They aren’t that far apart in age. He’s still a kid, just as she is. Sooo frustrating!
