I would rather listen to music. We generally know how each other rides. And we make stops at stop signs to sort anything out.

@@jeremybly The systems allow you to each listen to your own music (we do that too). If we're going somewhere new, our GPS is telling us the directions and if you want to talk, just talk. If you don't, no need to. It's the best value-add we've ever added to our rides and highly recommend trying them out.

I can safely predict my wife would be similar - not a confident passenger in a car and hates speed. She was my first passenger as a pilot, and had her eyes closed during what is, even now, my very slickest landing because she thought we would die (it was a crosswind landing on a narrow runway, so a bit happening). So, our 28 year marriage might be harmed if she hopped on the back of my bike!

You have to remember your pillion has a greater sense of danger because they are not in control and your melon is in their way. Start out slow and build trust and confidence; but that means riding for *their* comfort, not to your skill.

One thing we really like about Cardo is their constant improvement.

Cardo DMC connects to Sena mesh. which to me is another selling point for going Cardo.

@@TMCmakes I have a 50S and tried to connect to a friend that has a Cardo via mesh. I forget what model Cardo he has. We couldn't get it to work and just went riding without comms. Not sure what we did wrong. Need a big red button with the word "Easy" on it.

Sure does. It pairs with your phone, so you can just say “Hey Cardo,” followed by the command: “volume up,” “mute audio,” “music on,” “next track,” even “battery status.” It even allows for “Hey Siri” and “OK Google” commands to your phone.

First. Thank you for asking!! They're not unimportant, but their importance is over emphasized. So, all the time we hear about how they translate to higher speeds. They don't. I've done contract coaching for Highway Patrol motors a bunch of times. Yeah, they kill it on the cone weaves, far better than I can do them (just like Ari Henning), but are terrible (not hyperbole) terrible in the fast stuff, taking a lot of uncecessary risk with a lot of false confidence. We are not dying by failing to do U-turns, but a lot of riders give up because sociatal pressure to keep feet on pegs during slow speed moves. So, we believe in "Foot-Ready" U-turns. Just keep your foot out at the ready. If you dont' need it. Cool, you didn't need it. If you do need it, disaster averted, you didn't have to drop your bike and break a shift lever. Here's what happens all the time. Someone gets a bike, is just learning to ride, and have been told they need to keep their feet on the pegs during slow speed moves. So they fall over in the Denny's parking lot. They have to ask for help to get the bike off their foot. They've scratched the pipe, bent or broken a lever. They are embarassed and discouraged. Then it happens again, two weeks later at the gas station. And then again doing a U-turn on some crappy back road. And then they give up and say "I just don't have time to ride". Thats a long explanation to say "Keeping your feet on the pegs isn't all that important" and we'd rather riders focus practice time in areas where riders are getting killed. Running wide in corners and failing to use the brakes appropriately. Who cares about U-turns?

It’s funny because I sent him a video of yours years ago to get his thoughts and he went off on a tirade about how foolish ot would be for someone so experienced as him to watch videos from people less experienced when he can just asked famous pro’s instead. Guess he finally watched one.

Haha - sounds consistent. He got his first motorcycle, I think, in 2013. I became a basic rider coach in 1999 and got my first street bike in 1988 after many years of crappy dirt bikes in my youth. The irony is, he now disagree's with a lot of famous pro's, national and world champions and whatnot that have tried to talk to him about some of his "ideas".

@@CanyonChasers his short about you was particularly perplexing in one spot where he said “he just learned that at champ school”… what’s the issue with that? He himself pitches champ school all the time and is or was a coach there at one point iirc, definitely went as a student 69,420 times I know because that’s part of his thing about him having so much more experience than 99% of people on RU-vid because his view is you can ride for 30 years and have little to know real skill/experience but yea. What else do “pros” and he disagree on? Look I’ve never been one for RU-vid drama & I’m sure most riders aren’t…adult ones at least, but if there’s disagreement amongst big names in the RU-vid teaching space on important components of riding that aren’t just “style” differences than that’s worth people calling out imo but I get the hesitancy for yt’ers to start “fights”. anyway.

He's made a couple of video's calling me out over the years and it really makes me sad because I think we could make such a better, more positive impact, if we could have more consistent messaging or at least focus on what we agree on instead of tearing each other down. I chat with a lot of the other YT guys from time to time, and we don't agree 100% on everything all the time, but none of us have ever thrown shade at eachother. In fact, when one of us makes a good video, it's common to get/share a compliment comment. Kevin at MCRider, Bret Tkacs, Jerry Palladino, Mike on Bikes, even Dan Dan the Fireman. Hell, I've even had very positive chats with Ari, Zack and Spurg and I've built strong friendships with the guys at Champ School. We're all friendly with each other. I see it as we all have our audiences that we can reach. Bret has more dirt acumen. Kevin gets touring guys, right? There's room here for everyone, we don't need to shit on each other.

I'm really sorry you feel that way. The video is tagged as "paid promotion" (and has the text in the upper left hand corner for the first 7 seconds of the video) even though we only get paid a very small percentage if someone uses the coupon code. These video's are time consuming and expensive to make. Drones, cameras, editng softare, etc, are not free and we have to be able to pay for all of it somehow if we are going to be able to keep making them.

@@CanyonChasers I'm not saying don't. I understand the economics. I was frustrated with how the line of sponsored message and not-sponsored message comes across. You did your legal diligence for disclosing, I want to give you credit for that. Yes you may personally use their system but using their talking points next to your genuine thoughts and unbiased opinion feels disingenuous. I know you won't support a product you don't believe in, but that does make your input on it biased. You do do a good job on disclosing mid video that they're a supporter of the channel so maybe my frustration isnt warranted. I think a clear delineation of what is and isnt paid for is important. This video could have very well been sponsored by them in its entirety and knowing that you only get a cut of sales changes my opinion somewhat. I spoke out in frustration before because of how loose lots of videos have become, specifically yama's champ program which many channels have made a weird mix of infomercial and full on advert without really disclosure. I honestly appreciate your feedback on this. It's a really hard line to walk, and your frustration with other channels is legitimate. Ironically, I didn't use a single one of their talking points but just talked about what I like about their product and tried to integrate it with a topic area that was relevant. At first I thought in-line adverts for mobile phone games and hair growth gel with a scrolling yellow bar would be less upsetting to folks, We did one mid-roll with Nord VPN which was a huge deal for us. That one mid-roll was six weeks worth of revenue and paid off the new drone - thats a big deal - but people were so upset about it I haven't done another one like it and have gone with motorcycle specific products that I actually use. Maybe thats worse? Anyway, serously, thanks for taking the time to reach out! At the end of the day, I make these for you guys and I try to make the best video's I can, the hard part is trying to pay for it all.

@@CanyonChasers Thank you for your response :) I do think an unrelated (topic wise) ad min-video is really rough and personally prefer a very early ad or a very late one. I think for a related one it can be decent. Check out internet shaquille for my preferred inclusion of ad related content. A hook to the ad mid-video (usually) and an ad at the end - I think its responsible and a very clear line of ethical advertisement. On slightly related topic, do you listen to music on solo rides or do you try to keep hyper aware?

In this case I could do what I want but most of inline ads (unless you are multi-million subscriber channel) the advertiser says "ad must run within the first 60 seconds of the video and must be 3 mintues long. The top line of the description must be the about the product and you must pin a comment about the product". We don't get a lot of say, and thats why we don't do those ads hardley ever. As far as music, i'm meh on it. I'll listen if it's a long boring stretch of road and thats about it. On twisty bit, the music never seems to match the flow of the road.
