I try to refrain from calling Instax polaroids but it seems that most people still call them polaroids.

Please check out my other video where I compare the LiPlay to the Mini 8. Yes, generally it is better to take pictures with an iphone and then print. But the resolution of the Instax film is not super high, so it does not make a huge difference.

Unfortunate I don’t own the SP-2 printer. Based on official specifications they should perform the same as a printer. So it’s up to you if the added functionality of the LiPlay is worth the extra cost.

It has exposure compensation (+/- 2 stops). But it does not feature double exposure. You can still do double exposure in your smartphone and then print it. If all you care about is the instax print then the camera sensor seems adequate for the small prints. I will post an image quality comparison video tonight or tomorrow.

Enjoy! I suggest you get a micro SD card ($5 for 32GB). Then if you want to get the digital pictures off the camera you can. But I hope for a firmware update as well.

Unfortunately I don't have the SQ20, so I can't do this comparison. I am hoping that Instax will come out with a Square Liplay, I would buy that.

@@andrearichards yes, I mentioned in the comment above, 'The other work around is transferring the images via the micro sd card.' take out the micro sd card, you can do anything with it.

That is a great insight! Thank you for your comment. I think most people missed this since there is a lot to talk about regarding the instax portion of it. But I 100% agree with you and they should fix it in a firmware.

It would be best to test it in your particular night club, some are super dark, some have enough light. If you want to try an extra light I use the Aputure MC-1. It can do all colors and also be controlled via an app. Here is a link (affiliate): amzn.to/3efWM9j

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, whenever you insert a new film cartridge into the LiPlay it will automatically eject the film. So you can't do double exposures with it the same was as on the Mini 9. But you can do double exposures digitally on your phone and then print them on the LiPlay.

Instax wide printer is probably the most requested instax item. If they make an Instax Wide Liplay it would be an instant buy from me.

I think what I said was incorrect. The compatibility of the X cameras and the printers are a mess. Some use Wifi and some use bluetooth.

"vintagy" can mean different things to different people. Outside the pictures will look similar. Inside the Mini 9 will give you a very different look from Mini 11 or LiPlay. Inside the Mini 9 will give you an exposed person with black background, Mini 11 will give you the same flash look with a nicely exposed background (but you might also get motion blur), and for the LiPlay it will depend how you set it up, but the flash on the LiPlay is much weaker since it is a LED flash.

Yes, you can save both the digital photo and the sound. But you will need an SD card to get it off the camera.

Unfortunately I don't have the new printer. There does not seem to be a point to buy one if I already own the LiPlay.

It depends on which format you like. If you are indifferent about which format you use (mini or square) then I would say yes. You get more control and you save also a lot on film (in the USA mini is almost half price of square). If you like the square format I would keep the SQ10 and maybe wait for square version of the LiPlay (Fuji would be crazy not to make it)

Yes, the LCD on the LiPlay is low quality by modern standards. It is mostly about that we are used to. Old digital cameras used to have LCDs like that. The problem is that smartphones have great screens so now the LCD on the LiPlay looks poor. But in my opinion it is still functional. I prefer lower quality LCD than better LCD but also higher price.

As far as I can remember I did not try to do anything special. In what kind of scenes are you getting the tint?

I agree that they are very similar in functionality. But I think the polaroid film is too expensive so I mostly stick with instax.

Any microSD card should work. I use a 32GB card. Nothing special about it. But note: the microSD card is pretty hard to remove from the LiPLay since it is so small.

I am not aware of any film that would be already a sticker. There is a reason for it. The film is a certain thickness to go through the rollers. If they added a sticker it would mess it up. You can always stick some double sided tape on the back after the picture is devoped. No lens attachments possible as far as I know. You can only use the Instax mini film. The wide film will not fit. What does he mean with "run out". Maybe he thinks fade. That is the case (or was) for the polaroid originals film (not Fujifilm Instax) The Fujifilm Instax film is very stable.

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately if you transfer images through the SD card, you will just get the plain digital images (no effects and no frames). But now if you update the app and the firmware of the Liplay you will be able to transfer printed images from the Liplay to the phone and those images will the effects applies. But one problem, the images with the effects are very low resolution. I will make videos on both topics.

Sorry for your troubles. Does the camera power on? Maybe try a different USB charger? What do you mean by camera not taking the film? It doesn't eject the dark slide? The LiPlay is pretty simple, so if you are having troubles unfortunately you might have gotten a defective unit.

Yes, I am very happy with the camera. I think it is a great deal. You will waste lot less film than with the Mini9 or the Mini 90.

@@baekseulhyun6762 a HUGE part of the allure of these cameras, is that they're a functional stand-alone. if you carry one in your purse or around your wrist, you remember to take it out or pull it up and snap shots. It LOOKS like a camera, so people understand that you're taking photos for artistic purposes, and they don't suspect you are a weird peeping tom or spying stranger, uploading their faces to facebook and Instagram. I think separating the camera from the phone is a step toward feeling like a photographer, and not a novice. Mentally, it makes the user feel more organized. The stand-alone functionality carries with it a nostalgia factor, too. We want to own and use a utilitarian camera, just like our parent's and grand parent's cameras. Finally, the fact that it has got in-camera processing (including some lomo features) that Instagram doesn't even offer, puts this just a moment ahead of cell phone pictures. to this day, you cannot put a simple vignette onto your picture from Instagram. people don't want to be running all kinds of apps to put a vignette or change to black and white, they just want a simle camera, capable of taking nostalgic photos. this camera comes close. I wish they'd add more Lomography simulations, though. bigger sensor, autofocus, color manipulation, mechanical zoom would make this thing perfect for lomo lovers.

Great insight! Thank you! One big omission from the LiPlay is that you can't set it to automatically print the picture after taking a shot. You take a digital picture and then you have to review the shot and push print. It takes a little bit of the magic out of it. I think they should fix that in a firmware.

I don't think so. They use the LED flash as an indicator that it is charging.

I think the quality is great! When you look very closely you can see a little bit of the printing lines but normal people will never notice it. Based on specs it has the same printing resolution as the SP-2 printer. But I do think there is a room for improvement in the future.

Sorry, I am not sure how long the voice recordings last. I can’t find the picture from this review unfortunately. And i personally dont use the feature since i dont like that it takes too much of the picture space.

Only if your images are stored on a micro sd card in the camera. If they are on the internal memory then I dont think you can move them to your phone.

I guess you could always screenshot from the app.

the camera has 3 shortcut buttons on the side numbered 1, 2, 3 and you can add filters from the phone to there. only three but you can change them

That is what Fujifilm decided. They just give you more options in the app than on the camera. If there were too many frames on the camera, it would be cumbersome to scroll through all of them.

Those are all good questions. I honestly never use the audio function since I don't like the QR code in my pictures. I will have to look into it. If they really delete the audio after 12 months then I think they are really making the audio feature not very useful.

Hit the play button so the picture shows up on the LCD screen. Then hit the menu button. Then scroll down to "erase", hit OK. It will ask you "FRAME" or "ALL FRAMES". Choose which one you want and hit OK again. Then it will give you the option again between "erase" and "back". Scroll to erase and the picture will be deleted.

Yes. This is actually something I would like to test: Black and white picture on color film vs. using the monochrome film. My guess is that when using the actual monochrome film the picture will be more contrasty. But the color film is cheaper so if black and white pictures look good on the color film then its more practical (plus you can choose if you want to print color or Black and white).

Film is really expensive so the rechargeable battery is not a problem unless you want to shoot like 10+ packs in one day (for example at a wedding).

I presume that you are referring to the features that the Instax SQ20 has. I think the video feature is great for action shots, but you can always use your smartphone in burst to get the same functionality. I am not sure why it was not included in the LiPlay. Maybe it would make the interface too confusing.
