Intake manifolds are often misinterpreted yet it can make or break a build when it comes to Horsepower gains. Here we discuss most of what we can and share including runner length calculations, taper and many more
We also delve into the differences or the difference when going ITB and the possible things you can take advantage of when it comes to their strong points, such as higher airspeed on the intake tract

@zeff noob props to you as I used ur ITR manifold that I ported (the photos) are also in this video.. props for actually telling me it looks even better in person than the video! I was surprised cuz here I am thinking the videos show how pristine the finish is lol! To know it’s even better in person for you? Maaaaan thanks! Take it easy on the slower cars around u haha

Everything you said here was so spot on, from my experience I've told people ITBs aren't the problem, people put ITBs on a stock engine and expect to gain power but they end up losing power but obviously gain throttle response , that's because they don't have a cam that opens the valve enough nor keep it open long enough and some have ITBs with really short trumpets , short runners will give you power at peak high rpm but not mid range so the car will feel sluggish which to me is not efficient, everything you said was spot on brother, great vid

Yes sir!!! I learned a lot from the VW guys… I see some run actual ITB carbs (weber idf) and their reason is it let’s them run more duration (bigger cam) while keeping midrange good Makes you go hmmm right?

@@StraightOutThaGudda4U so true! Plus they got all sorts of bnew heads on different valve sizes! Quite fun to build… so one day when I get to build my own? (Already got a stroker crank and heads) I gotta double up on my videos cuz there might be 20-30yr veteran builders schooling me here 😂 But in all honesty that’s something I would benefit from and everyone else in the channel = we all would learn extra!

Just found this channel, dude, you got some awesome vids!! I think alot of people nowadays with F.I. don't learn carbs, which means they don't learn/see what air speed, pressures, plenum size etc ACTUALLY does. Slow air speed with ruin a Carb'ed vehicle's idle, and long runners will gain Low RPM TQ, vs short, etc. Carbs are easier to see the phenomenons. I see even the older guys going towards Holley Snipers, etc not realizing the same physics applies.

Oh brother! Thank you for those words on the vid! I try man! And brother u hit a nail on its head right there!!! seeing these stuff and what it does may surprise a lot on why even a big turbo didn’t lag as much… maybe cuz everything else helped work “with” the turbine

Have you tried airfoil profiling the throttle body valve? Do you think the furthest stack would benefit from making the plenum slightly bigger at the bottom/back? Since that should i clease the air available for that last piston which, as I undertand, tends to run too rich

On carb/weber stuff that was helpful profiling it! But I havnt here like too much work 🤣😂 Good take on the plenum stuff I thought the same then I realized after checking a lot of cfd from diff places, as u decrease plenum volume at the end? It helps feed the runner = how and why ultra street tend to look like that… I think it’s mainly to keep “momentum” of the air at the plenum roof from throttle to the farthest runner entry cuz the first 3 runner entries prolly took most of the air lol

I would like to see some info on throttle body orientation. On my 08 civic si, the throttle body adapter rotates the throttle body. What would it change if turned 90*. Great info

@SRDmotorsports another thing I would be interesting to test is a semi dual plane intake. Basically a plate from the throttle to the other end, dividing all the runners in have. Would it cause more turbulence or less. Where in the rpm would it help, if it does. Sorry, you're videos really have me over thinking things 🤣

What setups do you think a Edelbrock Victor X works best for? I'm running a 84.5mm sleeved GSR with Tuner 1 cams on boost. Cylinder head has extensive port/bowl work on intake and exhaust sides. Will the manifold kill my low and midrange vs a skunk2 pro series?

Oh on boosted stuff the VictorX does wonders… it won’t entirely kill ur midrange as u are essentially a 2liter so it’s a pretty good combo

And that’s part of the reason of this channel… locals think it’s for DIY no it isn’t lol it’s just to share a better perspective on engines and all Like example after finding this channel? And watching my stuff? I’m 110% sure if they have to decide on a project after? Their choices and options have way bigger chance in succeeding or making power ftw!!

the math is quite long So I use the calculator online by bowling’s and gripo as seen on the previous manifold videos Same guys that made MegaSquirt

Oh hey man sorry took a while… I actually make the rest of the ITB and it’s off a cbr1000rr Only probs is DHL shipping is up there lol Got the H22 bought by a Virginia guy and finishing up a p30 for a fellow in Florida and DHL shipping rate is about $178 aside from the cost of the manifold and all But come to think of it, as I plan to make a semi-expansion video on Tuesday relating to Intake manifolds but solely discussing the GSR p72 intake manifold with the IAB butterflies… I could actually dedicate a portion of that to my ITB for you so u can assess it? Perhaps source a fabricator more local to u (US) to have reasonable shipping cost? Of the top of my head Greg owner of @GOAutoworksyoutube channel is a mean fabricator! And can def do the deal should u decide on that… But yeah it’s can do that video next week and we can discuss it further , if that’s cool

By removing the active butterfly? Anyways based on its dimension as I have one here… it seem to be sized to support 220hp on a 2liter I think what detracts most is the fact that an ITR manifold will reach it “easier” but that don’t make the GSR not reach 220hp as far as the manifold goes

@@DanA-yb5uu no video yet but hmmm give me a few days lemme think about that some more as I have a GSR intake manifold here that’s factory untouched… I think u are on to something real interesting here as even a rechipped ecu on tuning u can tweak the IAB function by way of rpm So when we think about it? Cold air intake + pro2 cams = prolly can be tweaked real real good hmmm!! 🤣
