At the Psittacus nursery we have incubated and hand-reared a group of 27 Galah cockatoos (Eolophus roseicapilla). From birth (9.52 g) to weaning (331 g). We want to show you the excellent results of our work.
Key factors are:
A) a complete and high quality diet according to the nutritional needs of each stage of growth,
B) the adaptation of the facilities according to the requirements of each stage of growth,
C) providing elements (enrichment) to allow them to develop natural behaviors, and not least,
D) be attentive to the development and behavior of each individual.
We used the Disruptive PSI-56 220 dry version incubator. The feeding products used have been:
1) Psittacine Crop Milk during the first week of life,
2) Neonatal hand-feeding formula until the pinfeathers emerged,
3) Special Cockatoo hand-feeding formula, and
