After 10 years on Studio One, this was the feature I wanted the most, and the way you integrated it looks awesome, the playlist feature, well done guys!
I see that you can record into the cells, at least that is what is stated on presonus website. Can you do live looping via a midi controller? Maybe a tutorial for this would be helpful.
Hi Gregor, are there any plans to include a built-in audio alignment tool like Vocalign and the one in Cubase, and a fully-featured graphic pitch editor that can compete with the likes of Cubase Variaudio3, Logic Pitchflex and FL Studio NewTone, as opposed to the very basic version of Melodyne? For me personally, this update/upgrade (whatever!) is the most exciting for since v5. There was good stuff in v6 and v6.5 but not much that I would use. However v7 really hits the spot. Well done PreSonus.
Just copy the Ableton live looping module and you'll be the absolute unit! 😂 Don't mean to be rude, but it's the only feature you're missing to be perfect!
all these new features are very interesting and inspiring! now it remains to round off the corners of the graphical interface of the plugins and S1 will be the most beautiful DAW
Is it possible to record these pads? If so, is it possible to do it (and also switch pads) by midi? If so, is it possible to adjust the tempo by the first recorded loop? If so, then this launcher immediately becomes a Live Looper! (Maybe with just basic functionality, but still it would be great!)
I believe they may add this in the song page or the show page... Personally, I'd prefer the song page as I never use the show page... Let's wait if they answer...

It's $200 for new users, and $150 to upgrade right now (10/9/24). Sounds way affordable, but if you tight on money, why not save a few bucks each month and then buy? Then you have something really powerful, and you're not tied to a subscription. You do have a few options.
Well if you’ve spent $700 on Presonus Sphere over the last several years, an additional $200 doesn’t sound “affordable” to me. You can spend $200 (or less) for a lifetime on FL Studio or Logic, or $150 on Cubase crossgrade and $50 updates every couple years. 4 years with Studio One has cost me nearly $1000. By far the most expensive DAW.
Having never used this kind of feature before - I don't use Ableton or Bitwig - I'm interested to see if this is something I'll be interested in. Let's see.
Big theme here is stuff that existed elsewhere in the Studio One ecosystem but was annoying to use or hard to find. This one is a Logic slayer! Coming for you Apple!
Can you add a chord track to the launcher, and use the re-pitch features? Because that is one of the more powerful sketch features or S1 Pro, and combining it with the launcher would be great. I would have liked to see a separate launcher-arrenger, for a truly independent workflow, no matter if you start with the launcher or the arrenger. It would also make a lot of sense when copying, by allowing the user to adjust loop-point, and fill out the "clips" with various tools. And it would make it possible to have comping for comping to clips, to build the perfect take, when jamming with clips. And how about hardware integration? Digital Perfomer supports novation hardware and some Akai hardware. I think the same is true for Logic. Both though at this point don't support the Akai APC 64 which has the advantage of a display, for setting scales, and chords without having to understand the cryptic launchpad combinations, (it also comes with ribbon faders for parameter control, which is superior to the use of the pads, even if ribbons have their issues). I do wish some hardware maker, would make launch-controller where the main unit just have pads, and have expansion connections for building a custom grid. With separate pieces of for function keys. If you can build a longer horizontal grid, it could also be used as a hardware controller for comping. Imagine having a comping-launcher interface in the DAW, that can be controlled by a hardware, where only one track is expanded on the luncher.
I have been pestering them for an Atom X/Grid (or whatever) Push-style device for a long time lol. I even gave them a mockup that looked pretty legit imo
Not sure why all this is touted as brand new when a lot of it was already available (if underused by most of the community) with the Arranger Track and ScratchPad. Sure, the V7 implementation is more customizable, but you could already launch patterns and rearrange them in V6 using the tools I mentioned.
This is very different.You can emulate this workflow in very complex ways by clipping up your tracks, and set loop-points, and then drag and drop to test out variations. Many people really like the workflow of the session view of ableton, and the similar workflow in bitwig, and some use clip lanching in logic as well. For those that like it, it is often a quicker way to come up with ideas, by jamming along with clips, or to just drag things in, and then test out combinations, to build parts of a song. Using the previous methods with the arranger and sketchpad, is a very different workflow. For some, launchers are not in their taste, and they prefer working in a different way. But then mostly they don't emulate the clip workflow at all, when using the sketch pad. Those that tries to emulate it, would most likely prefer this new launcher interface. I would say though, that without testing this. It seems that for some scenarios, abletons interface in the session view seems better. But in S1, it seems much easier to combine the use of clip launching and the arranger, thus making it more suitable for situations where you have some parts in the arranger, but are looking to come up with ideas by jamming along or re-arranging.
I've been using studio one pro since it came out . I paid for every upgrade but this seems wrong that a totally new person can buy it for $199.00 and I still have to pay $149.00 for up grade . not cool bro not cool ,it should be free to all pro 6 users . Reply

both are still present and they are different things to be honest. Altough I agree that the clip launcher can substitute a lot of the use cases of the scratch pad
Remember scratch pad? That annoying feature you always accidentally activate with a mistaken keyboard shortcut and then waste 15s remembering how to get rid of it and delete all the shit it randomly pasted into itself? Well, now we have clip launcher! Yet another feature you'll never use but will likely randomly screw up your sessions and annoy you! And all in the name of making god awful simplistic music - because what other type of music can you expect to put the bass from the verse, the synth from the chorus and the drums from the bridge and expect it sound like anything worth releasing? If you're thinking about releasing music made like that - don't. Studio One! For producers who know literally nothing about good music!
It seems very strange to me that software owned by a Guitar company is clearly going after the ‘don’t play any instruments and just wants to rip off bits of other peoples songs to create something they can claim to have written’ market.
Don't get why something like this are now in Studio One. S1 will NEVER come close to Abelton and Bitwig... There´s so much that could be improved, S1 should focus on its core strengths. And if I want "random" clip loop Mode I use Abelton.
Clip launching interfaces are really useful for sketching out ideas, jamming along and come up with new ideas, or for re-arranging/remixing. So it is an important tool in a DAW to feel complete. I don't know if they have integrated it in the launcher in S1, but S1 has the chord track, with re-pitch feature, that is also a very powerful tool for sketching, and that is something that ableton lacks completely, ableton doesn't even support ARA, so you can't even do it with 3rd party solutions, and workarounds. So even if you think Ableton does certain things better, it isn't better in all ways. When more DAWs add clip launching that pushes Ableton to do better. (bitwig also lacks ARA support). The interface if the luauncher at this point, does not seem as good as ableton, if what you are looking for is a clip launcher for the sake of clip launching. but in many ways it is better for working with both the arranger and the launcher, to test out variations, or to jam certain pars. And if that is why you want clip launcher in your DAW, even at this point, I think S1 edges out ableton. But if you open the launcher, just want to drag some clips and start building your ideas in that way, ableton probably is still better (or rather Bitwig, as it and S1 supports DAWproject file format so you can open projects from either DAW in the other).
WE NEED ABLETON LIVE SCENE LAUNCHER WITH ABILITY TO LAUNCH SCENE BY FOLLOW METHOD!!! Stop making these updates that no one cares about! Do something normal!!!
That was my feeling too. There is nothing here I need. I don’t need clip launchers, splice integration or stem separation. I’m a musician. I play instruments and I want to record music. It would be nice if Presonus could sort out Studio One stability issues, and the drain on CPU. These things have got noticeably worse over the last few updates.
And after 10 years they still could not figure out how to make a simple SCRUB tool... says the guy who still records real bands and audio tracks live...
@@SoundPeaks It allows you to control the cursor’s speed and direction in « listen » mode so you can pinpoint precisely any audio glitch, pop, noise, or bad edit on an audio track. Not very useful if you don’t do real voice and instrument tracking /editing. But Studio One competitors have it….
@@robertl.6919 I do record live music but I never had an urge to use scrub. I just listen at normal speed on repeat or restart playback in doubtful regions. So I was wondering. Maybe I am missing something. I got to try it out.
