God help me. I’m struggling to take care of my children. Both of my sons are special needs and require so much from me. I struggle providing the necessities for them, especially now that school has started. Lord Jesus I’m overwhelmed as a single mother. Please hear my prayers. My spirit felt solemn when Joyce said, "I always wish I had more time". I thought about how God has blessed me and millions through her. I thought about my own life (I'm just in my early 40s). I thought about how no man knows the day nor the hour that their time is up. The conviction is humbling.

Lord, please help me to stay strong and obedient to your will. No matter if walking away leaves me with nothing material wise, but I'll at least have the chance to get mentally well. " If i do what i can do, god will always do what i can not do 💪🏼🙏

I grew up in christianity, my parents were already Christian but I guess I wasn’t introduced to Jesus personally until the age of 23 I had a friend that was crazy about Jesus. She came to me one day and told me God had placed in her heart to start discipling me. I knew absolutely nothing, compared to what I know now. She took it seriously she read and explained the Bible to me and I wasn’t interested at all it was completely boring to me. It literally took her a little over 20 years for me to start acting and looking like her. Now, did I want to imitate her and be like her and liked all that she liked ? NO! I started without noticing acting just like her. But, never in my heart having the feeling to be just like her in a bad way. It has gotten to the point now at the present time, that some comment that I wanna be just like her and I imitate her. But in reality it’s not that. She’s a teacher, a Sunday school teacher. She’s graduated from Bible study and she also loves and studies music like I want to as well and took action on it. So these comments of me trying to be just like her and not having my own personality has put doubt about all that I have gotten started already even with others that think I’m trying to imitate them by liking the same things they do. So I’m the type to not want to imitate. But what my friend did to me was she created a disciple in me of her. Just like Jesus did and he never complained when they behaved like he did at times. He actually said for them to be like him. What I don’t understand is my friend that took her so many years to disciple me now feels uncomfortable that I am doing the same things she did she gets annoyed that I am following her foot steps. It has gotten very bad. That it looks necessary for me to let go of the decisions I’ve made by taking Bible study and music classes. I thank her wholeheartedly for introducing me to that part of Christianity. But I noticed I need to keep away from her. I also have goals and dreams and I’ve shared them with her all the time but it seems I really need to stay away because I’ve noticed this uncomfortable feeling between us. And I honestly hate that. I do not wish to be like her. I love her but I don’t like to be like her I admire her love for Christ. I’ve understood and also been told not to share my things with her because things just don’t happen for me when I do. So I’ve taken the decision to stop. I don’t think I hold any grudges against her that I’m aware of, but I need to stop. And I’m not sure how God will work with me. But I believe God has lots of good things for each and everyone of us. I don’t envy or want to have what she has. I know God has something for me that I have not received yet, and that I need to be patient about it. I pray and bless her life, but I must stay away and be aware my path is different than hers. I don’t expect to have what hasn’t cost me. I don’t mind working for what I want. I was raised believing that I need to work for what I want. I may not fall in the perfect ppl category because I have some conditions that hold me back from being perfect and I don’t mind it either, and although this might sound lazy from my part like “Oh well if it’s meant to be it’s meant to be” but when you’re surrounded by comments of not having your own personality it makes me think so I really want this? Am I really imitating do I really like this? Maybe I am imitating since it’s causing a lot of complication. And sometimes God wants to give us a change but it never happens because we don’t know how to keep quite 🤫 forgive all this writing but. Your sermon got me when you said being where you are has not been easy and it’s cost you a lot. And I believe you. Plus you deserve it. To be where you are. Nothing is easy everything has a cost and effort. Goal getters don’t procrastinate. May God who is my strength help me. Blessing to you Joyce and your sermons that always bring my feet to the ground. I get so much out of your teachings, Joyce ❣️🙏🏼 If possible, I would love to hear your thoughts on how to maintain a relationship with abusive parents. You mention that you kept your distance from your parents for many years before the Lord put it on you to help your parents. In your sermon, you say the right thing to do is to always talk to our parents and provide for them. Do you believe it is wrong to take time to ourselves with little to no contact to allow for healing from the abuse? The Bible does say to “Honor thy father and mother.” But there are also MANY passages about keeping your distance from abusive, toxic people. In my case, my parents mentally abuse me. Do not acknowledge their wrongdoings and continue manipulating and doing many sinful behaviors. I want to think I am all forgiving and of a Mother Theresa spirit, but how many times can you be torn down and stomped on before enough is enough?! I'm not looking to make excuses or play the victim. I am genuinely trying to understand how you can heal (I've been suicidal my whole life due to being autistic and their abuse) and maintain a relationship with people who practice ongoing abuse while caring for the wellness and safety of your mental health. 1 Corinthians 6:17, 18 "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters". Proverbs 13:20, Psalm 1:1, Proverbs 6:27, 1 Corinthians 5:11, 1 Corinthians 10:13 These passages instruct people to leave relationships with evil or wicked people and to shun, outcast, and purge them from their midst. The Bible also says that safety is an important quality in relationships, and that God created our bodies to react negatively when we are unsafe.
