When you are resource poor or/and have constraints you won't believe how innovative you can become to solve problems. Scarcity is a blessing in disguise.
Because it's "Old" now, back then when Computers were the new thing where everyone was getting one, it was a super duper new thing and they made great commercials. Nowadays this is old news.
Gateway 2000 P5-75 for me. Pentium 75 Mhz. 8 MB (yes.. Not GB, MB!) of RAM. 300 MB hard drive. Came with a printer. Only $2300. Got it in 1995, delivered to my dorm. Walked by the mail room (only 2 days after I ordered it and noticed a cow spot box in the room. Checked my mailbox and saw a "your have a package". Did a happy dance.
