too bad its rigged, specially that last one, if they stopped starving the hx370 a lil itll climb a bit before hitting a power wall around 90w, graphics too. Edit: rigged is too far. It’s simpler to say that with this “benchmark”, neither of these products are actually showing their graphical capabilities to their peaks nor advantages (and yes both sides do have advantages, and yes intels biggest weakness is always drivers cuz they don’t have a real graphic drivers team atm). Edit 2: noobgamer I made u a 6 paragraph response and it got flagged and deleted. TLDR I pray for intel but they have dropped the ball and lost/fired all good engineering prowess and projects. They need to focus on efficiency cuz they lack that greatly. It’s so sad how not only did they reduce their entire product lineup back to just processors but also lost the best of engineering due to mismanagement frustrations.
@@ZæhædÃŦřöłłÂššÑĩġġå well the HX370 is bad at managing power to either gpu or cpu. also dota 2 are fairly light game now. and more to mention is that amd system is a 16" laptop. so it has higher power consumption. it would be interesting to see kracken point next year competing with lunar lake since they are design for almost same ram speed and same power package. now if these benchmark are true, we will zen6 and arrowlake refresh having a true competition
@@ZæhædÃŦřöłłÂššÑĩġġå The point is that you can do this stuff WITHOUT going to 90W. Traditionally Intel CPUs have scaled better with higher power. So IF you could run both AMD and Intel CPU at higher power the Intel CPU would probably STILL do better.
@@LouisDuran the problem is that it isn’t any better, the highlight of losing Hyoerthreading and waste of die space e cores for rentable units and here we are losing hyper threading without the main advantage of doing so. Intel is a step from death and hasn’t delivered on a promise in a decade. As much as we need them, they are 90% far and need a major trim. It’s bad enough the royal core team and most of Jim Keller’s work is mia(some of the most expensive researching/engineering efforts they invested in the past decade) but it’s even worse is that when u remove brute force clock speed and power increases, lose the ecores, and untie the ring bud from using the same voltage as the pcores(and maybe ecores) it won’t stop suiciding. I always wondered if my old 13700k I gave away wasn’t running a crazy 1.5v+ ring bus voltage at stock wouldn’t kill it faster, here we are two years later and it comes out that yes it will and intel didn’t test that and didn’t/couldn’t afford to care about the future woes. For the record any intel cpu runs rather efficiently when you scale back to 9900k clock speeds and regain the ability to not require the largest cooling options (itx win). To add any past 6 years of AMD 12/16 core desktop cpus run most workloads more efficiently under 100w and retain majority of performance whilst intel doesn’t shine, even in a 6 + 8 config in a laptop range power budget Lmao. If you look at dragon range, it’s desktop grade performance on laptop without any funky business, in fact it’s a peak yield for efficiency. Intel’s E cores are scheduling nightmares, wasted of space, to avoid direct comparisons for raw multi core performance in an age where the only thing they can do to scale core performance is push the voltage and clocks, which has hard limits, so they decided to go for super skylake cores glued on instead of redirecting engineering efforts to more efficient ways of scaling performance , but no they couldn’t admit that their nodes were shit and here we are now, on the cusp of intels entire fabs slipping through theirs hands like the sand it wastes, leaving them to run to tsmc as predicted 10 years ago when they begun the harder part of their stagnation. Yes I’m still mad my dell precision 7770 with a 12950hx and no gpu overheated at 75w, it’s a shared disappointment in dells bad design and intels poor efficiency. It was performing worse than a 3700x locked at 88w in multi core, and that was with no ecores, meaning each p core had 9w each. With e cores it was too power and heat limited to do anything well. Just embarrassing. Meanwhile my 7940hs and 7600 both smash that record well under 75w. The 7940hs I had didn’t drop to 3700x levels of performance until 35w… 35wattts!
@@noobgamer4709 I really want intel to compete but they keep mismanaging quite literally, quality engineers and now they basically are a stay away company. No quality engineer looking to be paid their worth are heading to Intel at this point in the titanic crash.
I wonder how they will compete again the power draw of Qualcomm in the new upcoming laptops - I tend to prefer Intel, so interested to see what happens
Thank god they managed to include AI there! I was worried for a second that we might not get any AI stuff because thats the most important thing in the world right now.
AMD and Snapdragon units were sat flat on the desk whereas the Intel models were raised. Given they're running for extended periods, I would take the results with a grain of salt but it is good to see Intel improving in power efficiency.
It makes sense. They are a company promoting their product after all. So they would probably want to raise their products above the others to show. But yeah, as you said, one should take it with a grain of salt since they are first party benchmarks.
next time if they want to promote their products visually over others instead of putting hem direct on the desk they can use shorter stands for the others so they all get similar airflow
Thin and light laptops are awesome - intel have never been known to get. them running cool - that OLED laptop looked awesome - Dynamic AMOLED - samsung again
Intel should be ashamed after all thats happened , I do not hate all companies, if we lose AMD and INTEL it would be a disaster. Hoping they can get competitive again.
I love how Leo is just brutally honest despite standing right in front of the booth staff. It’s refreshing (and hilarious) compared to how sterile everyone else’s coverage tends to be at these sorts of media events. Also just realized at the end with the gaming test, the Intel laptop was propped up with a stand but the AMD and QC ones were flat on the table. That would improve performance a bit … no?
I like that MSI laptop, under a kg is amazing for portability - but I think Intel will struggle to beat AMD and Qualcomm in regards to power and efficiency
Interesting see the side by side gaming comparison with AMD. Remember there was a time where Intel wouldnt have even bothered with that setup because they were so far ahead.
Honestly I would love to see decent gaming in an ultra low power laptop. Currently the apple silicon seems all by itself with that. Would be really cool if Intel included some HW raytracing in there too.
Glad integrated graphics performance is getting better as discrete graphics is just overkill for a laptop. I really like the look of that Samsung laptop. Screen looks fantastic and it’s got a proper full size keypad.
Can you guys start measuring system power usage like the way they are doing in this demo? Its very interesting seeing how (in)efficient some of these are.
Qualcomm made a decent entry into the PC market, my big issue for that was the emulation needed for some of the apps, some of which I use all the time. new AMD stuff looks great based on reviews
Leo, always great event coverage - hoping to see some of these laptops reviewed in the coming months - you used to get some MSI laptops to review, its been quiet - any new stuff on the way?
1:30 that space bar on the laptop is tiny. Copilot + all these usual buttons. Just as useful as the properties button that I have never ever used since its introduction.
Good to see new hardware, I have no loyalty to AMD, Qualcoom or Intel, just want the best system I can get. and Right now its not intel, waiting to see what they do
This looks promising, I read a bit about the performance and efficiency cores. seems to be some nonsense going on about how that might work to save power. might be slower than last gen?
Thank you for the coverage Leo. I actually found some of the demos impressive, but as always I want to see real reviews. I find the launch window bizarre with some strange implications. Last month, I was receiving ad campaigns from MSI about their Back to School sale, selling Meteor Lake laptops, so defacto that is what they were competing with for that sale season which arguably is over by now. So that makes it Meteor Lake vs X Elite (for the daring) vs Strix Point, which is not a favorable comparison for Intel. Now, Intel comes out with demos saying "that laptop we sold to you for back to school by the way, yeah it's rubbish." I picked up a refurbished Thinkpad at the start of the year, and that does plenty for what I need for my college classes, so not in a rush to upgrade.
if everything proves out, the core ultra 7 V seems like the goto - close enough to the 9, but clearly better efficency vs 9/AMD and even slightly better than Qualcomm.
I'm waiting for press comments, specifically focusing on memory bandwidth, how much it will increase throughput, moving the gddr5 die to the PCB closer to the cpu of the die.
Great video, thank you! It sounds very nice! I have a question for you. It's not really about this but what are your recommendations for laptops at the price range of about 750 euros? The inspiron 16 looked very nice with an amd 7 8840u processor. Do you also think there will be any discounts on maybe the intel chips with lunar lake chips releasing now? I just want a laptop for study and maybe some light gaming like minecraft. I would like to keep it for a few years and for it to be a bit future proof. So maybe the AI of the inspiron 16 would be usefull. I'd like to have your opinion. Do you have a good recommendation or do you maybe recommend to wait for something else? I'd like your opinion! Great video's! Thank you for them!
