Man, I so look forward to these. Thanks so much for doing this. I did think you were gonna cover using the module as a Waveshaper on external signals... Maybe next time ;) Can't wait for the next one.
Once again a great tutorial Seth! Thanks for taking the time with all the diagrams. Really helpful. I have a question: the manual says that the shapeshifter incorporates the analog wavefolder circuit from the uFold. But the uFold has a symmetry knob. Is that somehow included on the Shapeshifter?
LeVideo Thanks! As far as the uFold II goes, it has a few extra features that the Shapeshifter lacks: the symmetry control and the number of stages. On the other hand, like I mention in the video, the SS's fold can act like a VCA, whereas the uFold II cannot because it doesn't mute the signal at fully counterclockwise. The uFold II gives you a bit more sonic possibilities which is why I haven't got rid of mine yet.
Seth Shafer True. Funny, I was interested in the uFold as well, but I bought the Wave multiplier II (A-137-2) instead, to have no overlap with the SS. Someday I'll maybe add the uFold as well :-).
Hey Seth, thanks so much for this videos! It is demystifying a very complex module for me. I did have a question. You said that at 0, the Fold knob should output 0. My unit is amplifying the signal already at 0, so I can't use it as a VCA. Do you think the unit is broken or is there something I can do here to fix this. Thanks!
Hmm, I'm unsure. You might want to contact Intellijel and ask if there's a trimmer or something that you can adjust or if you need to send your unit in for repair. Best of luck!
@ Seth; many thanks for the tutorials, great work :-) @ nodusk; You could fix the problem with the Fold-output? I have exactly the same problem with my Shapeshifter and no idea what the error could be!?
whats ths oscilloscope that you are using? i really like ad want to buy it. thx for the tutorials i didnt even knew what module i had untill i saw this
Hi Seth, amazing tutorials! I was also interested in this oscilloscope, but the link you provided is dead. Is it possible to maybe upload the software? thanks a lot
+Ian Hoffman If you haven't found the answer already, Mod B has multiple destinations, all chosen from their corresponding buttons to the right of the Mod B knob. You can select, for example, "Tilt." The Mod B knob lets you select a steady value or an offset to which an external modulation source will be added. Hope that helps get you started.
