Amico isn't even in the same league as any of the 90's failed consoles. The 3DO, while considered a failure, still managed to sell 2 million units. The Amico, if it ever launches, is going to be lucky to hit 5k sold at this point.

I imagine the "negotiations" for the Amico are like "I'll give your 40 bucks for all the those office chairs and another $50 for all the copper wire".

The Email came hours after CU Podcast video talking about Amico in RU-vid. I wouldn't put it past them to wait until you uploaded a video to "own the haters" as they have "old" or outdated info.

Exactly, even the worst failures like the Atari Jaguar had games, and even had some great games, but the Amico has Nothing, only unfinished shovelware.

Intellivision claimed it raised $17 million in one of its videos, and assuming that was once true before it was all pissed away/mismanaged, imagine if $1 million was put into Earthworm Jim 4 development! But nah, instead they setup triple-A salaries and now have nothing to show for it say cardboard IOU boxes that'll likely be orphaned (nothing to play them on). Atari which has its console on mainstream retail shelves, has defeated Intellivision once again. It's unfortunate that Atari didn't buy the INTV IP before Coleco Amico Tallarico got his hands on it, but oh well.

Their Start Engine campaign funds reset to $0 today. Is this normal for a campaign there if it ends prematurely?

Even back late last year, I figured that they would get the founders edition out, now I can't see them shipping even those.

"Potential Investors/Aquiriers Outside the Start Engine Universe". The Start Engine Universe IS the Amico project. So they are looking to sell anything of value that isn't the actual console. In other words they are seeking to sell the Intellivision Branding and IP. Which moght still have some degree of value, in spite of what they have done with it. If anyone buys it they can get a moderate revenue stream from licensing out the retro shit to AT Games or similar for $30 Walmart plugnplays. What it also means is as soon as any check to purchase the brand clears these clowns will hoover it up by paying off their shady loans to the business, and then immediately file for bankruptcy. It's kind of transparent what the plan is at this point.

That episode of South Park where Mel Gibson just shows up and farts crap all over Cartman, is basically what Intellivision did to their investors.

This whole Amico thing has been so entertaining and I just can’t look away. It started with genuine interest for me and then quickly went downhill. I don’t see this ending well and honestly I hope everyone that preordered gets a refund and I hope those involved with the business learn and grow from this (sadly unlikely). Usually, isn’t the crowdfunding scene used for retro consoles and not new ones like this? That way you have an automatic library of games for your console. Pat (or anyone else) do you know why they never made the console compatible with the older games that already exist, and if they could, make new games?

oh I almost forgot the most irony: tommy said that nobody is making the wii sports sequel which everyone at nursing homes and hospitals ask for- thats what the world need but nintendo isnt doing it - fair enough, but the sequel to wii sports is now coming to nintendo switch next month, in april, Nintendo is literally making the games you are "supposed" to be doing Tommy. For same price as this console, your better off buying a Nintendo Switch or a Dell Optiplex SFF, stick in HD, more ram, Low Profile Graphic card and your all good. I wonder how much more updates were going to get from this console.

Let me help you guys, the second they started talking about family friendly, is when they change the business address to Utah, and Mormons got involved. This product is being designed and sold for Mormons, and their family home evenings. Here is a game console you’ll never have to worry about containing inappropriate material for your children’s fragile little minds. I guarantee you they’re going around the old Mormon money playing up the fact that this supports their cult. All they want to do is avoid prison at this point.So they’re trying to convince these people to back their play. These are exactly the same kind of people that were behind clean flicks, the Mormon video piracy operation where they would edit Movies to fit their delicate sensibilities and had the balls to sue the movie industry for refusing to alter their movies to fit their specifications or to provide the TV edits that no Director wants to make in the first place to their tiny audience. Warner Brothers had actually attempted this with a reasonable lineup of their biggest sellers back in the 90s, I was a video buyer at the time, and absolutely no one bought them. Look, I'm very glad your friend got a company doing what they love & I'm glad you're able to do an ad for them, but if I want dice (and I've finally managed to break THAT addiction), I'd buy them from my local brick and mortar game store because I love them. I never comment on RU-vid videos but I've been following this debacle throughout and have to say that Ian nails it with his value proposition argument. I picked up an Xbox Series S for £249.99 ($299.99) for the bleak Xmas of 2020 when Covid was rampant and I couldn't visit my family. For £1 to get an initial 3 months then £11.99 ($14.99) a month for Game Pass I've been swimming in gaming content ranging from day one releases of Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite and Psychonauts 2, plus many many more titles to suit all tastes and ages. How on earth could this console (the Amico) even attempt to compete with this kind of product? Even with a relatively robust release schedule and host of third party support it would be a tall ask. Coming in with none of this as well as bizarre proprietary tech like the funky controllers and NFT(?) game cards they'd be eaten alive by Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and Evercade.

I watched the beginning of this saga a long time ago. I recently thought oh I should watch the Retro VGS/Coleco Chameleon disaster again cause that was amazingly bad. After revisiting that disaster I thought oh I wonder what ever happened to the Ataribox and Amico systems. Hey at least the Atari VCS actually released. I’m amazed this is still going on but the entertainment I got from binge watching this coverage over the last two weeks is amazingz

That statement from Intellivision Amico will be the last thing said by them until they file for bankruptcy.

Let's take a moment to appreciate the Ouya. A system and company that was built on the earned crowd-funded dollars, missed its release date by four months and eventually made it to store shelves and online retailers. The finished product had its deserved faults and criticisms, but for well under half the cost of the Amico, backers at least got to actually own an Ouya.

The Amico was an orchestrated long con from the beginning. It is only now entering its final phase.

I’m gonna miss hearing about the absolute disaster that is the Amico when it inevitably dies in the coming weeks.

With the StartEngine campaign switching to “zero” and those investors being refunded, it seems like bankruptcy is coming. An “Angel Investor” or any sort of positive progress would mean they should have kept the invested money and given those investors a chance to reap all the benefits they were dangled..

It's crazy to me that the Smash JT's of the world thought that this was a good investment because "he had fun with the games". I've genuinely had fun with mobile shovelware but that doesn't mean I'm gonna pay 250-500$ for it.

If you want the old games, buy an Evercade and an Intellivision collection. It’s cheaper and you’ll actually get what you paid for.

This is just the saddest thing. I don't understand the mentality of people who are obsessed with Amico, it's always looked like a rinky dink little plug and play to me, but people have thrown ridiculous sums of money at it. They can't all be suckers, can they?

If you're an investor in this thing start asking for your money back NOW while there's still time. Like Pat said if they file for bankruptcy or someone comes in and buys the company, you won't be able to get so much as a penny of your money back. Start asking for you money back NOW!

My guess is that they are negotiating a fire sale. Assets are likely being sold to a vulture capitalist or to some other entity that just wants the Intellivision / Amico IP and any assets they have, and do something with it. The board is heading for the exits and will grab whatever cash they can negotiate for themselves. All shareholders will hold stock that is worth $0/share following the sale.

Intellivision in the 70s and early 80s was a high end super system. An intellivision plug and play controller sold as a non-limited-edition budget item sold as a low cost toy could easily sell in the millions, but that’s like a car company bragging that their economy cars outsell luxury speeeboats, its a different market and arguing in those terms is inherently dishonest even if it were true and doesn’t prove anything meaningful.

A declaration of bankruptcy could in theory require a quiet period, as could a new equity sale. No matter what the amico continues to look like it’s going broke

Was actually excited for this console 3 years ago, I sold all my retro consoles and video game collection, made a killing on how high the retro market is, so this for me looked like it could work, just a quick game here and there , nothing too detailed, i was gonna pre order one and decided not to, as time has gone on I am so over this crappy console that they couldn’t pay me now to take, in fact for the price they will be charging for it you would have to be mental to pay that , 229-249 , horrible, in fact I know it’s not their competition but in that price range sorry it is the Xbox series s is a little monster for 299.00 , I purchased that and for 14.99 you get the ultimate game pass , you would have to be mental to purchase this android box running KitKat for 249.00
