The pilot handled that so well and of course his voice was consoling for everyone. Spectacular looking footage -- wow.

Wow, there are a lot of overrated "turbulent landings" on RU-vid. But that was - for once - a terrifying one!

Right when that wind pushed down on the wing the pilots definitely knew it was not safe. Great video! I keep watching the approach over and over again

I've had that feeling before of a turbulent final approach and thinking I can't wait to land so this nightmare is over, and then just before we touch down the engines roar and we had back up in the sky and my heart just sinks because now it isn't over.

There are so many clickbait videos and here you really see the strugge of the pilots and how they do a great job doing a go around. And it is named "landing attempt". This is a refreshing understatement. Thank you for uploading!!

Very interesting and cool video! When I see storms and Joplin in the same sentence, I can't help but think back to that horrific tornado years ago. Good flying by the pilots and nice footage mate!

a very similar experience happened to my family and I when attempting to land at Sky Harbor airport in AZ, at the exact time a Haboob was hitting the city and the storm was said to be the worst in 20 years........after three aborted landing attempts, we diverted to Tuscon for the night......there is no way to explain the terrifying feeling of severe turbulence , that is steadily increasing as the plane nears the ground........was never so glad to land and thanked the pilot for getting us safely down as I walked off ...... the pilot was very professional and said he tried his best but couldn't do it........others were unhappy we landed in Tuscon, but I told the Captain he made the right decision in getting us safely on the ground......thank you again sir, if you happen to read this......

That had to have been terrifying! Very scary watching this...just before the attempted touch down I thought the right wing would strike the ground! I would have had to change my underwear had I ben on that plane! Very good video and no exaggeration at all. Thanks for posting and glad you are safe!!

I remember being in a Jetblue ERJ-190 when there was severe turbulence during approach due to a passing storm... I've never seen a plane's wing flex so much, and we were pretty much being tossed around the cabin as we descended (unfortunately some people couldn't hold in their upset stomachs). Saw the flight path afterwards and the plane made a pretty interesting shape lol. It's always funny how calm the flight attendants are, that's when you know you're probably going to be alright!

Captain: "Ladies and gentlemen, we got a little scared and were unable to make the landing, we'll head over to Springfield for a change of pants and get you back to Joplin...some day"...would've been hilarious. By the way, these passengers are ABSOLUTE PROS!! Not a peep from any of them except some casual conversation and laughing as if nothing is going on. 😁They've been on some pretty crazy flights apparently! 😁😁 That was a close one on short final, good thing they caught that wing!

The hardest, and the most important, thing a pilot has to do: when in doubt Go Around!

RU-vid's algorithm decided that I should watch this video. Wow!! Those T-storm clouds were Holy Shit Dark!! Looked like they may have been tornado forming clouds. The big clue is if they have spikes on the top of the thundercloud and are on the back side. Back in 1972, I was in a DC-10 going to West Palm Beach and we went thru thunderstorms. I saw lightning hit the wing of the plane. The drafts were tossing our plane around wildly. This was after our flight was already delayed because of a bomb scare on the aircraft. I was 13 back then going to see my grandmother for spring break. Later that week, we flew up to Disney World for a few days on a 2-engine prop plane. On the return flight back down to PBI, we went thru some serious thunderstorm clouds and it was tossing our plane around like you wouldn't believe. Excellent job by the pilot of your aircraft!

Wow quite a turbulent for thunderstorms to make it happen. But the pilot was brave and I’m glad they were gonna land somewhere else. I can say it also was terrifying for those on board!

As soon as I saw how violent the windsheers were, I was thinking, "No way they're going to make it!" It was swaying so much, I thought I was getting air sick. Props for holding on to that shot during that time. I know it's been a long time, my friend, but this new job I took has really consumed my hours. I'll do my best to catch up, but I know I have A LOT to look at! Great work, buddy!

as a pilot windshear is scary dangerous and could be deadly kudos to those pilots for recognizing the situation and opting for n aborted landing better to try again then to push your luck

That flight would've scared the heck out of me. Way to keep the camera stable and good job on the pilots decision to execute a go around. Better safe than sorry.

Wow! That was a great video and fantastic that the passengers stayed that calm. I have had a go around at ORD, DEN and PSP with one diversion to ONT. Never as close to landing as yours thank God. Incredible! Thanks!

Incredible video, great job on keeping the camera still with all that jolting around. Reminds me of my flight from SIT-KTN-SEA, tried landing in KTN with like 30mph winds, I couldn't tell how far off the ground we were at all. In the end the pilots aborted and went for SEA.

Hey Skylite. You're buddy from dirty jersey saying hi, whilst sitting here at the AAA waiting for them replace my rear brakes, and scheduling the kidney donation for what they are charging me. I've watched this video quite a few times, and still love it today. With all you know about my obsession with jet aircraft and flying, for the most part, all I really enjoy are the takeoffs and landings (toga especially). Most flying at altitude is generally smooth, uneventful, and well, boring as heck. I LOVE turbulence! Makes flying more exciting. Whether is has been commercially, with my brother flying, or whatever, I've had NOT a few, pretty harrowing experiences, and I love it. And if the weather is severe enough, and I am scheduled to meet my maker in very short order, at least I will be doing what I love and enjoy. Again my friend, thanks so much for what you do on your channel, and for how you've enriched my life with the best aviation videos on YT. We'll be talking soon.

Holy..!!! That looks REALLY bad. Never seen anything like this on YT. For once, the person behind the cam doesn´t fake it... second that turbulence does not fool around... THAT is severe.. or even extreme it seems some times. I would crap my pants being in your shoes... great job filming and making the video.

The flying pilot was like "oh hell naw fuck this abort abort abort!" No but good video man and kudos to those pilots for making that decision.

I like how you (unlike other RU-vidrs) actually label turbulence correctly this is definitely Severe a lot of others like to label light- moderate turbulence as severe or extreme. You don’t do that. Again amazing video and I could hear the wind outside in the video at a few points

This was the worst of the self-described bad approaches I've seen: that grassy hill came up pretty fast on the approach before they initiated the go-around! Whew! That's pilotin'!

Wow. Watching that gave me anxiety lol. I actually had an experience similar to this whilst landing in KRDU. There were no thunderstorms however there was strong winds and gusts that knocked our United E175 around on final, luckily near the end the wind calmed just in time for landing without having to go around.

Amazing clip! Looks like at 2:46 the flight deck crew put the throttles on "TOGA" but still had a tough time with climbing out of that windshear. You could tell the pilots were pulling hard on the yoke just to get her to climb out at 1000-1200 fpm!

I went through something like this when I was landing in Springfield IL on August 10th of this year and I have to say I wished I recorded it but this brings back that terrifying memory and I haven't flown in a while but since I'm writing this comment I made it to the ground 😅

Really cool how it looks a little sunny in beginning of video, then he comes out of that left turn and you just see gnarly storms and thunder heads. Pilots were on it too.

That sort of stuff scares me! And my daughter is a flight attendant! I am not brave to fly without worries especially during any type of storms. I suffer from severe anxiety and always have to take a pill to take the edge off.

Ahhhh those clouds are scary looking but I’ve been in something like this the plane just dropped. Also scary plane ✈️ ride.

That is one of the most scariest landing in my life but over all nice footage.

I had one bad landing at Toronto International on a 747-200, (British Airways), and that was bad enough because that is a massive aircraft. We didn't abort, although it was the roughest landing I ever had. I had sympathy for people landing in smaller aircraft. A mile from the end of the runway at 1000ft we dropped 500ft and powered-up and climbed back up to the Glide-Slope. When we finally landed we were on 100% reverse thrust and I never saw an aircraft stop so quickly. As we walked into the terminal, I realized that we had to fly back to London. Walking on the ground never felt so good.

I was on a E175 back in February. We had a missed approach and went around. Glad I got it on camera!

For some reason I was envisioning one of the many aborted landings due to high winds & wind gusts in Europe, maybe Ryanair or EasyJet. Anyhow, it does not surprise me that this is Joplin, MO. All sorts of lovely weather through that area no doubt. Great video, thanks for sharing!
