This is video 8 in the series of videos on ship handling.
This video discusses the interaction that occurs between ships and tugs when the latter intends to pick up a line from the ship’s bow. The use of diagrams aid in understanding. The concept of ‘trapping’ experience by ships is also discussed.

Sir. I would be highly obliged if you entertain my doubt. In Position 1, the tug is at the stbd quarter of the vessel. There is high pressure at the bow of the tug as well as the stern of the vessel. You mentioned in the video that the bow of the tug is sucked in towards the vessel. But due to the interaction of two positive pressures (+), shouldn't the bow of the tug sheer away?

Bro, that positive pressure is exactly aft of the propeller in the form of cone which is widening, so if you overtake from either of quarter as the suction effect of ship is greater than than of positive pressure of tow, it will swing toward it.
