That’s great ! BUT- It seems to me that so much of the floating fodder is organic material that should be there naturally. Does the other trash really do harm? Will removing all the naturally occurring organic deposits cause worse damage. Mankind often causes worse consequences with benevolent intervention.
yep every coastal town or city should have one , Also every inner city should have air purification towers . There's a new sea moss tower that's being tested in big cities that clears oxygen for upto 7,000 ppl per hour !!!!!!! x20 of them around a big city would make a massive difference to air quality

@@YTjndallas not an unjust observation, much of what I see is in fact organic waste such as logs and leaves and other debris of that nature, this machine and it’s project can certainly be used to prevent such debris from clogging up regularly used waterways if nothing else, however I feel they would’ve done better to promote this project had it been pulling plastics and other man made garbage out of the rivers or oceans
It should be part of our taxes. I still don’t understand why we get a refund back. I’d rather see that money go towards programs like this and other needed federal/state needs

I love this idea. ❤However, does anyone know what happens to the trash once it has been removed? Of course, there is recycling, but not everything is recycable. Recycled into...? I know of a few household items that are made from recycled material, but what else? Some countries have no landfills. Where is this ocean trash going?
@@nadinewebber4017 as far as I know, it IS going into landfills, temporarily, until they can figure out what to do with it. Possibly, the countries are utilizing neighboring countries. Maybe they can come up with some kind of acid type substance that will dissolve the majority of the debris, but is kind to the environment. But there should be a waiting period included in the testing to make sure that there's no change or breakdown in the chemical makeup to prevent possible problems 10 years down the road.
Ur right about showing this on the news channels but news outlets perfer murder, robbery, mass bodies being killed that what gets there ratings and funding sadly.
@aloragreenteam2343 at this point I only believe in bible prophecy and it's becoming more apparent that what was written in the scriptures thousands of year ago is true. All you have to do is open your eyes and see the events that have and are taking place
@Dont CensorMe my opinion...plastic in the ocean is deadly to the planet. I think finding a way to initially keep plastic out of the general environment is most important.
@@ADHDcisGinger you misunderstood my comment. I would prefer a way to be found that would remove the plastic without removing organic materials. I totally agree that organic materials need to be added, as normal, to oceanic systems. Just not plastic. THAT'S the bad sh!#.
years ago, when I first learned about the islands of trash in our oceans, larger than small states, I cried. Watching this beautiful machine cleanup makes me believe there is hope for us, yet.
Agreed. But 95% of this debris is actually organic material, not plastic. Additionally, what do you see as the long term problem with plastic in the ocean?
@@pete3816 uhh the plastic breaks down into microplastic particles which fish mistake for plankton which then enters the foodchain and travels up into fish we consume and we eat it?
@@pete3816 Certain plastics have cancer causing agent’s if congested and I’d like to know your source for 95%. I believe you speak straight out of your ass, don’t pretend to be someone you aren’t. Give us the source!?
@@jacksonbrown2692 😂 why so offensive??? Are you a little keyboard warrior?! 😂 try making your points without childish insults and then the adults in the room might listen to you more. You can clearly see how much organic material is being collected. Infinitely more than the plastic. Most of the plastic is thin walled bottles. Most of the organic material is solid matter. It is actually probably higher than 95% if we actually considered it by mass. Use your eyes and brain, and you’ll see it for yourself. As for the plastics causing cancer, again, what’s the real LONG TERM problem here? Lots of things cause cancer way more directly (smoking, BBQ foods, red meat, sunlight). We don’t seem bothered about those too much.

The Earth will be fine.. We're the ones that'll be going away. 😳 This planet has existed 400 billion years. It'll last another 400 billion after we're gone. Sure, virtue signaling by making a show of how %1 of the money we're all being taxed is getting spent gives us a warm and virtuous fuzzy feeling and all that... But it has nothing to do with the bill of goods we're being sold. We're being beaten iver the head with climate propaganda literally every day of our lives, . meanwhile, unimaginable amounts of industrial wastes keep getting dumped into our oceans and rivers and belched out into the atmosphere. But sure.... Please, since some people are too stupid to walk over to a rubbish bin, we need to build big solar powered barges so someone can make more plastic to dump right back Where it came from. Fact still remains, we will be gone, earth will still be here. Just Earth + some plastic. 😏
Why isn't there more people doing this. This is amazing what yall are doing. Thank you we need more people like this to help. This is one of the most important things in life and my hat is off. And you have me another helper. Thank you for your hard work. 🙏. Another thing I want to add is that people are so greedy and hungry for power when we should be fighting pollution in all aspects. We expect to use the same bathroom for years without Cleaning it come on family it's common sense.
5his is not a thing to be proud of, really. I would be prouder if we didn't produce trash and leave it around. This is a big help, but the solution is better human behavior not a robot cleaning tool.
Wouldn’t that possibly fuck the eco system up? While trash doesn’t need to get through, I feel like it would cut off the natural flow of minerals, fish etc
@@wille3573its only skimming the surface so I dont think fish will be much affected. I do have to wonder about the impact of all the organic matter it is seperating though, (palm fronds and the like). The bigger issue is that it can't be used on navigable waterways because it obstructs the passage of boats.
I do hope the disposal/recycling is feasible but honestly even if they don't sort and just burn it all as fuel it's still better than without intervention.
@@CortezEspartaco2 Without any type of sorting they wouldn't burn it, you could have a lot of potential hazards from burning. Blindly burning plastics is not a good method. Most likely it's just buried.

I came to comment the same. 80% looks like organic material. True removing man made trash is highly recommended but hopefully as these type of cleanup vessels become more common they can become more selective.
@@matthewcullen1298 that's true. I've never littered in 57 years. I pray others begin to care too. But for all the billions that don't, I'm very thankful for these inventors!!
What we really need is to stop throwing trash on the ground and in waterways people need to treat earth how they treat their homes throw trash in the garbage
Definitely people need tobe more aware but a lot of garbage/litter is a accident, blown off truckbeds, tractor trailers, overflow garbage cans, just trying to dispose of garbage ends up becoming a mess, the whole system needs more attention

Looks like you're catching a lot of organic debris (sticks, large leaves, etc.) that would otherwise flow out to sea. If Interceptors become widespread, could a reduction in organic matter flowing out to sea have an impact on the marine ecosystem?
@@cyber2526 do you have a source on that? Also, how do freshwater flora fare in the marine ecosystem? Does it matter if they're invasives if they die on reaching saline conditions?
