Nadi is pronounced Nandi. We've been to Fiji three times, and stuck with Sheraton Denarau Villas. Great base to explore. Visited Intercontinental, which was fine, and Shangri La. The latter was dated and a bit rough but we enjoyed their water sports.
I’m at the resort (having decided to come here after watching your review) and your review is perfectly spot-on with everything you said 👏🏻 Thanks for providing such a detailed and accurate review 🙂
This place is spot on for me and my needs. We land there again in 10 days/ It will be my 4th time there and I've never been let down. I just hope to shoot a better score at the course next door, it is my favorite golf destination, and I've played 65 different courses.
We are heading there in 2 weeks time so great to get an insight of the property. We have a one bedroom suite overlooking the beach. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Seems to be a pretty decent resort overall. Something to consider if I ever head to Fiji. I really like that there are quite a decent number of sizeable pools for all of the guests rather than just 1 which everybody has to fight over.
I always mention Wi-Fi when it’s exceptional or it’s poor. I work at every single hotel I visit, so if I can work seamlessly and stream 4K, then it’s “standard” and I don’t mention it.
After watching the Shangri-La review with its decaying wood and natural features, I can appreciate the thinking behind the teutonic construction style here, may be its more weather and time resistance and delays delapidation.
Class act Kevin ! I find myself appreciating more and more your syle of narration and story telling. The overall comprehensive quality review you come up with every episode leaves me stumped as to why your subscriber count and view counts are at the level they are, and not way, way higher! People like Trek Treny inpaticular are slaves to a boring, brand dropping, sponsored driven channel that has lost his way and popping in family and girlfriend has diluted the authenticity and uses those distractions from the true art of unbias travel story telling. Again, well done. Your channel should and will be much larger in time - just get to understand that bloody algorithm.
The fact that I never knew he had his girlfriend or family in his videos should tell you right about when I stopped watching his content lol. As I always do, I'll say that I have no problem with sponsorships. I'm sure I'll have them some day (not by the places I'm actually reviewing...) and I'll be 10000% up front about it, but hiding those endorsements as so many creators do these days just completely strips them of any credibility. As for my channel, I've tripled in size since December and I'm growing 2.5x faster than the average of channels in the niche at the moment, so don't worry too much 😉 Thanks for watching 🩴
Well done as always. This place reminds me of the days of our quarterly regional conferences especially that long arrival hall. You’re right about the room though including that blob on the chair that looked like excess massage oil. By the way… I just had a walk around of the Intercontinental Ho Tram last weekend who took over from MGM although when I don’t know. I’ll be looking forward to your review. I went into the cigar shop for fun and talked to the friendliest people who could ever work in a cigar shop. After singing a little Vietnamese song for them they gave me a Cohiba which I will have to keep as I don’t smoke. Speaking of Ho Tram… I stayed at my friend’s villa at the Sanctuary which is incredible. I suggest that you put that place on your review list as well!
Ho Tram, Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Vung Tau... these are all likely not going to have reviews from me anytime soon. I could fly to Da Nang, Nha Trang or Phu Quoc faster (including airport time) than driving out there and have a much wider assortment of hotels and nicer beaches too...
Fiji is on the list for sure, but it seems more suited to a couples trip than a solo journey. These are some beautiful properties, but I'm seeing a lot of kids. Singles resorts gone the way of TAB cola? I've been staying at IHG properties this year (Singapore, NYC, with Waikiki Beach & Guam coming up this fall) & building up points, but I think I need to change that. I've been delving deeeep into the points game since I got a Chase Sapphire Preferred, and have a bunch of traveling planned. Hyatt points are valued higher than IHG points, so I'm going to go that way. Do you have any go-to sites when comes to determining airline/hotel points valuations?
Yes, my Patreon 😂 I have posts about all four major hotel programs already and I’m in the process of posting about my top credit card points currencies. Almost all of this available for Explorer level membership or above, with my hotel reward booking matrix available for Roamer levels or above. Plus I’m always happy to answer any specific questions about the programs over there (link in each video description). Ah, I also have a new airline redemption transfer sheet/tool to help you know exactly which date to book any airline you’re looking for. The one thing I’ll say about Hyatt is, yea they’re more valuable points, but if you earn something more valuable much more slowly (as World of Hyatt is designed to do)… then the value of the points isn’t actually the main concern.
Im always traveling solo, Ive been to Fiji and Vanuatu, beautiful countries but I didn't really have a great time, its hard to make friends, too many couples or families visiting Pacific islands. my flight with Fiji airways was on point tho
Aside from the room chairs, did you get any impression that the resort room could have used some type of refresh? Your room tour showed a fairly modern and comfortable room, but other guests have mentioned “dated” rooms.
They are what I like to call "Covid Dated"... during covid, all of the things that could be removed were- and some hotels decided never to put them back. So without all of those nick nacks and stuff, the condition issues of everything else (which wasn't horrible) are much easier to notice.
I go into detail about it with my Patreons, but since Platinum is free with a credit card, there's really no reason to persue it with qualifying nights.
Intercontinental Natadola is one of the best and top resorts in Fiji. I think you chose the wrong room on wrong side of the resort. The best rooms are the ocean view ones and on the top floors.
Very detailed video. Thank you. Couple of Questions- did the rooms have USB charging ports(night lamp)? Cab - What’s the average cab prices from NAN airport to IC and are they generally safe? TIA
Ports, off the top of my head I don't remember but if there were USB ports, that would be detailed visually in the video. As for Taxi, if I remember correctly it was $110FJD from the hotel to the airport. The other direction I'd assume it's the same. All yellow taxis at the airport are very strictly regulated and are all safe. They charge based on zone, they'll show you the paper with the prices when tell them where you want to go. Note, most do not accept Cards.
@@tfftthey have a refrigeration system for the water and over use it. I've seen kids with chattering teeth and blue lips and fingers. It's always absolutely freezing to the point of being unusable
Heads up it's a beautiful spot but the main pool is freezing. I've seen chattering teeth and blue lips more than once. Those food prices are shocking in local terms. I've never paid so much for one scoop of icecream. You can walk a bit to the right end of the beach, if you're facing the water, and find horse rides and cheaper massages. The end of the beach tfft admires has stunning under water life on some tides. I've seen two metre long, bright yellow pipefish in there. Just gorgeous. The day beds along the beach are the best place to nap and you'll be joined by an occasional irridescent striped gecko peering at you. Less welcome are the occasional ogling random men, sometimes hotel staff members indulging themselves to a disturbing degree. Note - I had curtains down and a sarong over my very covering swimsuit. But still... Here is some of the best snorkeling, diving, and fishing in Fiji. This resort is beloved by me except for the reservations above. My additions to your review tfft 😊😅
Last time I was here Kama lounge was still an test centre! The facility looks quite old when I went but staffs usually go extra miles. I enjoyed my week-long stay haha
