I was surprised to learn that red heads require more sedation and have a higher tolerance for pain. I'm a red head and when I have surgery I have to tell the guy giving me the anesthetic that I'm hard to put under and I usually wake up during surgery while they're closing me up. I also have a high tolerance for pain. Most of my red headed friends say the same thing. Who knew.
