I actually did started playing Genshin for an ad, a xiangling ad where they said I would travel around a huge open world looking for new ingredients, that was actually before the official game released and now I'm in a never ending cycle of grinding and reading theories about the story and everything turning dark and idk send help

I actually started playing Genshin cause of the ads! I had known about it since release but just kept putting off on starting cause I was too lazy. Finally after seeing the same ad of the traveler sitting on the shoulder of a ruin guard riding it around open grass lands in Mondstadt almost 3 times per video for more than 2 weeks straight gave me the final push. Now here I am spending my days struggling to change my current team cause I have attachment issues 💀

Yes, actually after I know genshin i knew nothing about the mihoyo community but the ads made me play it the three ads that i saw and made me intersted in genshin is the one where qiqi doing exercises then the different characters using their element like amber lighting up cooking pots and zhongli getting ores and the man who tells story in liyue.

The intros are seriously getting way better and better every video 😭✋

For anyone wondering, the soundtrack around 11:30 is called The Wind Catcher from a Foreign Land. One of my favourite soundtracks! Also I love the animated ads, they're funny and it feels good knowing that non-players probably won't get them. So it might be a better ad for people who stopped playing.

i actually started playing genshin because i saw ads on youtube just weeks after the game was released and here i am now after one year. looking back, i'm glad that i downloaded it and will never have a single regret on that day.

The first ad you showd is actually 3 youtubers, the voice for diluc is CDawgVa the lumine voice is emirichu and the laughing for diluc and the animator is daidus.

haha i remember like having seen a bunch of xiao ads which made me want to download it but i couldnt bcuz i didnt have my ownphone, then around the time i got my phone, kazuha's trailer was everywhere and that was the last straw

I might be able to answer the question regarding why these “weird” ads are seen as more marketable (do note that I’m 4:44 minutes in so I’m not sure if it gets addressed again later). The random humor and bizarre natures, in the simplest terms, are more easier to attract people because of curiosity. The ads don’t make sense so in order to make sense of what’s happening, people become more compelled to experience what is being presented themselves. They’re also much more approachable than serious ads because of the way the game is portrayed lightheartedly, to say the least. (Ngl, I would love to do a psychology paper on this some day which would probably give me a more in-depth analysis of this.)

For people that confused why Mihoyo making ads that makes their game looks "bad", It's not the first time Mihoyo roast themselves. I mean, in the honkai game and ELF anime, the CEO getting roast is a common thing. They even mention how cringe their CN Livestream is and make fun of it.
