You're right, Chile has a lot of observatories in the north, near or at the Atacama Desert, because of how clear the air is there. In fact we have the largest radio array (ALMA) and they're currently building two huge new telescopes which, I think, will be in the top 5 largest in the world
2:56 'the lungs of the earth' is a nice title but actually very misleading AT LEAST half of all the oxygen on earth is produced by coral reefs, and the amazone probably does not actually produce 20% of oxygen on earth. (This does not mean that the amazone isnt vital to the earth tough)
