Guys I am fully aware that this is not the final version. I was asked to reaction to this version specifically because of that reason. Just something interesting to hear.

I actually think more people should react to some of the anthology and compare it with the studio versions that were put out... it opens up a greater understanding of the music and the creative process involved

Good for you, @JMBOYTV. I think this alternate version is worth the attention because it has qualities that the "official" version lacked. John is looser. Plus, and I rarely say this, but I'm not even sure the backup vocals add all that much if anything on the more familiar version. P.S. Hey can I suggest ANOTHER reaction to still ANOTHER version of this song? Harry Nilsson: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-moc7rOyo7-o.htmlsi=ZfBKj7cVo8rWoss7 #JMBOYTV

I love the more raw versions of vocals from the songs on Anthology - especially John's because he had his vocals disguised any chance he got on released versions of songs.@@AndyMakesPlaylists

I got Anthology before it was released to the public and I loved hearing all their different takes and other songs that never got air play or made it to albums. Big fan of John's raw vocals any chance to get to hear them as he double-tracked and tried to otherwise disguise his voice on so many of his songs. (He didn't like his voice, shockingly enough!)

Wow! Sorry I missed this one! Yes, I specifically asked for this one because I thought it was very interesting with just Lennon on the lead vocals. And, as someone mentioned below, there is a version of them live in Melbourne Australia which is a great film of the Beatles live performance of this song.

JMBOY TV IGNORE all these negative comments that some of these people no NOTHING about as they OBVIOUSLY have NEVER heard any of the 3 BEATLES ANTHOLOGY ALBUMS. Any Beatles' fan worth their salt would know and HAVE all 3 albums. PLEASE DO MORE reactions from ANTHOLOGY, especially "AND YOUR BIRD CAN SING" (which is HILARIOUS) and "ROCKY RACOON" (also funny) and how they originally tried a different intro to "Eight Days a Week" There is a LOT of good stuff on here. But I would DEFINATELY listen to the FINIISHED recordings on their albums that were released through the years and THEN listen to their counter parts on the ANTHOLOGY albums. Perhaps to AVOID further nasty comments, do a reaction where you FIRST play the RECORDED version on their usual album releases, and THEN play the SAME song from the ANTHOLOGY album, so they can compare!

He KNOWS that, this was requested to him from their ANTHOLOGY #1 album I guess you don't have the 3 Anthology albums, because if you did, you would know that this is what it is from. They are fabulous albums, full of alternate takes, working on them in the studio, mistakes, funny bits, BBC radio live performances, etc. There are NO "finished songs" on any of these Anthology albums. IF you are a BEATLES Fan you NEED to include these 3 albums in your collection

EXCUSE ME???? "anthology version no one heard of" REALLY??? I hate to tell you this but REAL BEATLES FANS HAVE heard ALL THREE ANTHOLOGY ALBUMS and LOVE them. They aren't SUPPOSED to have the "finished" versions, which all of us fans already have and know. THIS gives us alternative versions and SOME we liked even BETTER than what they did eventually! Plus, mistakes, working on them in the studio, the whole process, and LOVE the funny things that also happened when they were in the process of recording (giggling through "And Your Bird Can Sing" is PRICELESS. EVERYONE LOVES seeing "outtakes" from movies and TV shows. WELL this is the SAME thing for recordings. You are MISSING A LOT by NOT having these albums. DON"T DISS them UNTIL you LISTEN to them. GEEZ!

That was raw. But cool. The Beatles in the garage trying out a new sound, a heavier r&b sound. Paul, if that was Paul on bass, was cutting up. And they were grooving pretty well too, until around two thirds in when they slipped around a turn. But they kept going anyway and finished out the song with a wack guitar solo too. Perhaps if they had more time they might have released a polished up alternate take more in line with this groove.

You love John's vocals too?! My favorite of all of them, even though I adore them all. John really disliked his voice, and asked their producer George Martin to do all kinds of things to cover it up. You should listen to all of Anthology. It's a real treat for the ears of John Lennon vocal lovers. :) Oh, search out 'sugar plum fairy sugar plum fairy' on YT and there should be a very short video showing John counting in to A Day in the Life saying that. It adds to the haunting quality of the song.

There IS no choir on the "original" song, it's just Paul and George doing backups and call and response. This album is the first of 3 Beatles Anthology albums, which are working on their songs, isolated tracks, funny "outtakes" different versions when working on them that are different from what ended up on their recorded albums that every one knows. This is giving you MORE interesting Beatles in the process of making their music. You need to LISTEN to all 3 ANTHOLOGY albums. IF you are a Beatles fan, you need to get these.
