After so many questions, comments, and dms I have now uploaded a video giving you guys ideas to include in your interior design portfolio when applying to college! Creating a portfolio upon graduating high school can feel intimidating, but I made sure it keep it as easy as possible and using tools almost everyone has access to.

Thank you so much for this! After covid I went to college right out of highschool and dropped out bc of mental health issues. Now, applying back, felt so overwhelming. I decided I wanted to do interior design but when they asked for me to design a space I was so scared and overwhelmed. This really helped!

This is THE BEST portfolio advise video I've watched; and I've watched alot. Makes me less nervous for my grad school portfolio and gives me practical steps to actually do this (with no interior design background). THANK YOU!

omg this video was so very helpful thank you so much! I watched 6 different videos all about 15-20 minutes non of them giving me the information I was looking for, this couldn't have been more informative! thank you so much! I plan on applying to a university for interior design having not taking art or design for A-Levels, so this was very helpful to get me started on a portfolio! thank you again! x

I'm here because I'm undecided if I'll do interior design because I don't know what to do in my portfolio, and I'm quite perfectionist abt drawing floor plans, but I saw that it's ok, that the line is not straight. And thank you a lot, because I got a lot of ideas abt my portfolio.😊 - your soon to be interior designer

Hello Sandra, thank you very much for your video, this year I applied for Interior Decorating and I would like to know if my portfolio could be done digitally. I took some courses at the Sena in Colombia and I have several jobs that could be placed in the portfolio. My My concern is if I can design a digital catalog where I can also show videos. This was so helpful! I'm applying to university (from the UK) for the next academic year and I'm starting to get my portfolio together. I currently work full time at B&Q (which is the UK's version of Home Depot) as a Kitchen Designer. I'm planning on using some of my designs from work in my portfolio so which category would this fall under? I can include HD renders and also floor plans with measurements etc. Thank you!

That is amazing you are working as kitchen designer before studying interior design. You are goin to start of very strong! I would say you can showcase your best designs + renders you have done at B&Q under a section called "Projects" and then show floor plans & maybe elevations of other projects under "Detailing" category

Hey there! Great video ..very informative! I have a question, i have 3d renderings that i would like to include in my portfolio, these are made using 3ds max student version and recently i have rendered some important and rather cool interior scenes using a version (which is nor a student version nor a purchased one ) can i include those in my portfoilio? i am applying for a university ..

Yes of course! You can always draw it out and take a picture of it and upload it to your portfolio. Or scan it too.

Hey Chavez, how would a person do the construction drawings without even knowing the measurements or the basis of drawing a room layout?

since it's for applying for college, it's not so critical to be right about everything. But, you can find measurements by googling or take out the measuring tape and measure a space yourself!

That’s a great question! I am not too familiar with slide room, but I think you can submit PDFs. I would just download your google slides as a pdf!

My son wants to apply for Interior Design major and needs a portfolio. He'll be a senior in high school this year. He has no art background and hasn't used any of the digital formats. If he submits sketches of various things, is that enough to apply or will he not be competitive enough?

It all depends on the school's requirements! Every school is different and require different portfolios so I would just double check that.

Hi Sandra, I am completing my Final High School Year and am going to give my exams in the month of May. I am Planning to study in Europe but the application forms require your grades but since I haven't got my grades, how am I supposed to submit the application to any university if the deadline is approaching please help me if you have any idea about it.

Hey! You don’t have to be great at drawing to become an interior designer. I know many designers that don’t have the drawing skill sets and are fantastic at design interiors ☺️ hope that helped!
