Hi!! As you have cool colors in your decoration, I recommend neutral light (4000k) for the ambient light layer. If you need a warmer light for space where you need a cozier feel, you can include floor or table lamps that you can control easily, or if you have the budget, a Smart bulb is a great option. With a smart bulb, you can control the intensity and color temperature of your lighting plan whenever you need it.

As usual, super informative and well explained! Another tip for identifying the undertone of a near neutral is by checking the darker colour at the end of the colour strip on which it it found.

I changed three walls to white kept the yellow ochre on the bay ceiling and one wall - when the sun comes through the windows in the morning I get that warm homey feel - love the white as it too has an undertone of yellow. Your explanation now makes sense of the room colour - thanks 😊

Hi, Thank you for your comment!! If you have vibrant colors in your space, for the ambient light layer I recommend neutral light (4000K) with a CRI greater than 90 not to alter the colors. (This information can be found in the light bulb box). However, as your color palette is warm, you can opt for a warmer lighting layer and incorporate it into your table or floor lamps. In this way, you can change the atmosphere of your space by manipulating the different light sources. This is all new to me, so how do you know from the little colour cards at the paint shop what the undertone is? Does the card tell you? Once I found out that a neutral colour I liked contained black, blue and orange.
