Howdy and thank you, It's just a shirt to protect me for Lye burns, all interior plasters are not skin friendly? A girl in the UK had to have 8 fingers amputated from leaving them in Plaster of Paris while in her classroom, otherwise known as POP plaster. It used for cast and many other things, Many of our stucco and plasters should not get onto ones skin, it's the negative aspect of plastering that I don't talk about much. Thus If I'm working stucco or interior, I will always be in uniform or protective shirts and gloves.🕵️‍♂️

Another great one my friend. Can you tell me if the joints need taped if using Structolite over drywall? And if you were planning ahead would you use green/blue board instead of white or doesn’t it matter? I actually like this alot. Especially from a non skilled point of view. My first houses that I built way back in the mid 70’s were all Structolite base with lime finish and the texture you get from plaster cannot be duplicated with any joint compound. This makes plastered walls a whole new ballgame for me should I decide to build another. Would love to see more vids like this where this has been simplified to a game changer type of design.

@StuccoPlastering
@StuccoPlastering 10 месяцев назад
Excellent question, Yes, absolutely, but a bonding agent such as Quikrete or larsen's, Plaster-Weld is necessary for the Structo-Lite to adhere permanently. In the video I point to a recently applied ceiling in the restaurant, The applicators felt no rain would reach upwards, so they didn't apply a bonding agent, they also didn't expect a hurricane where the rains are blown upwards. I'm not criticizing, i'm just in the habit of being a forensic stucco dude. After more than 40 years in this one trade, I'd better know what I'm looking at or referring. The trouble with Structolite and even Gypsolite is that they can have coarse perlite in one batch and very fine in another. Also will suck up the primer. You can show the texture on your sample boards by titling it a little for the light to glance across. If inside use a strong flashlight.

Howdy Eric, my fellow plasterer friend. I've not noticed this, however when as a rule I'm applying Structo-Lite, I'm going an inch or more thick. It's tough to find videos about plastering on RU-vid. Lots of stuff regarding drywall and mudding but using veneer plaster is another story. Here in the NE plaster is used often with drywall relegated to the less expensive homes. I've done some plastering in the past and always used a hawk and trowel but recently I watched a video of a guy in Europe apply it with a roller (something he had never tried before) and damn if it didn't work. Walls (in my area) are typically plastered smooth while the ceilings are usually left with a slight texture. Textured anything is a simple apply and walk away where doing smooth finishes is a lot more work. Have you ever tried to apply veneer plaster with a roller? When I finished my basement, I applied plaster with a trowel but left a slightly textured finish and after I painted it, I really liked it. Not good if you are planning to put up wallpaper but looked great with paint.
@StuccoPlastering
@StuccoPlastering 6 месяцев назад
Howdy, no I have not tried to apply a lime finish with a paint roller. It would be too thin to accomplish the desired strength, sought after by troweling.

But whenever it comes to overhead plastering on wood lath, I switch to light weight Structo lite. Also if a relatively small area needs to dry fast, I use it. It looks very much like lime sand plaster when done as well complete with blemishes and tone. The fact that you can float/slurry the surface and then finish trowel extra smooth is nice too. Super popular finish in Australia

Good evening Breny Boy, it's extremely popular all over the world. When I go places, I notice it on most hotels, high-rises and other monster building as its easy, and gives a really cool looking unique look, and never needs painting, What developer does not want that?🕵️‍♂️

@@lostpony4885 that’s a bummer all right, like the Red Devil Lime patching. It was like speading butter, perfect for interior crack repairs and it flexed.

I think it's a horrible finish. Why would anyone want that versus a nice smooth surface. Anyway good skills and plastering and presentation, just don't know why that type of style would be popular.

Hello, my friend from Ireland; in the description, I added a video that shows what this worm finish looks like up close, as this sample and the walls at the Condo didn't do it justice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nP5BBkxM8v0.html/ Also, as far as textures, there’s no limit to textures, except with someone’s lack of imagination.👨‍🏫

I have gone through a ton of your videos looking for veneer plaster on blue board. Very popular wall finish in parts of New England. Have you done it ?
@StuccoPlastering
@StuccoPlastering 6 месяцев назад
I just apply the lime plaster; if there is blueboard I go over it. If it's just regular sheetrock, we apply a bonding agent over the sheetrock to apply the Lime Plaster. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P-MYIWu6hLg.html/ Lime plastering over Blueboard sheetrock or drywall.

Thanks for the mention, Kirk! I didn't hear you say how long after the born-on date that the Structo-Lite or even the Diamond veneer is good for, but I wanted the folks to know. When you see the born-on date, just know that it's good for SIX MONTHS. After that, it's not going to perform as intended. So glad you did that video! Thanks again for the mention!

@@StuccoPlastering yes! Get here! One of the ONLY true Mediterranean climates in California. We were the "Avocado Capital of the World" until water restrictions jacked up many of our groves. But I still have them in my yard! LOL! Housing is much cheaper than anywhere in CA (we're about 11 miles from the ocean - as the crow flies). LOTS of stucco work for you guys! We are part of San Diego County, so our rules are less restrictive than the City of San Diego and we have REALLY low property taxes. (our 3,100 Sq ft house on just under 1/2 acre) is about $5,800 per year. Fallbrook allows for ocean breezes so it never stays too hot or too cold. Right now you can get a house between 2,500 sq ft - 3,000 sq ft for around $850K and it includes about a 1/2 acre of land or more. People are nice, many of us are over 50 yrs old, so it's pretty quiet. Great restaurants. It's the place to be! Maybe at least buy a vacation house here! You won't be sorry Kirk!
