as a tf2 map maker this series astounds me, i cant even begin the think, even if these are hand made, how the fuck did they manage to make this and more so, with only using assets from the game it self?? i just cant possibly find anyway that a normal human can figure out how to craft this
It's not limited to assets included with the game. Some of these use custom maps and some of those custom maps have custom assets packed in. The distorted heavy on data86 is a custom model with a custom animation in a custom map that the map plays.
i just never thought this would be possible through demos only, and even so, still incredibly complicated to fingure out how to do this stuff@@111112oo
its a bit hard to keep up with interloper now a days so heres what a type 6 is (still a theory) A TYPE 6 DEMO IS A POV of a scouter (STILL A THEORY, REMIDER) scouter - an entitiy that checks servers for any strange stuff like DMNPC's ,once it detects something unusual. it will start to delete everything in the map (shown in demo7 and demo36) , then it calls in the umbrellaman to delete the strange object or the DMNPC (IT COULD ALSO JUST BE POV OF CRASHER OR UMBERLLA MAN BECAUSE ITS STILL A *THEORY* )
I don't think this is entirely accurate, a big issue with this is in Helicopter they revert to an older type once things are deleted suggestion that type 6 is actually just an earlier type with stuff to delete.
i have kind of a different theory: You know those cheaples that acted like alarms in Misty type 5? Maybe these type 6's are they're POV and instead of deleting the people they instead teleport the things that are suspected as "Unusual" To a set cordination maybe thats also why that one building was there near the Umbrella man site by Misty. As the "Cheaples" suspected it as "Unusual" And part of your theory i also believe. In the "Then it calls the umbrellamen" just like in misty And the viewmodels are probably just replacements but the way they teleport makes it way weirder as the cheaples can't really teleport so maybe there are types of cheaples. Here are the ones we know: Static cheaple (Stays in one place forever) Teleporter cheaples (Teleport around the map) Crasher cheaples (Maybe these can be cheaples as in the "Weird crash on eida's channel" the cheaple KNOWS that eida can see them so they crash the game to maybe act as a plan B as the player isn't detected as "Unusual") maybe this theory can be looked opon but it's just everything i know. also yes i went full matpat mode.
The fact that the scouter in the last demo, 1, operates like a type 3 demo to begin with, 2, still operates despite a loss of connection to the interloper server and 3, cant delete the type 4/5 crumpled heavy just makes demo 86 just that more interesting
2:58 fun fact, me and a couple of people from the discord figured out where the textures are from and have retextured the whoole map, i have personally helped with the road textures!
demo52 is likely from the crasher video from eidas "weird crash on tf2", player character flies out in the same pattern and it starts in the same position as the crasher was before flying out of steel.
The fact in Demo 86 when the heavy just floats up in the sky cracked me up for no reason but all of these demos and the ARG as a whole is super interesting
theory: demo 86(heavy looking at random things) can be probably him looking into objects and making words, like he looked at the point c so letter c, or wall w or walls name.
i would like to mention that demo 23 is probably NOT by eida, if you decompile the map and view it in the hammer editor, you can see a text entity which says "I think mapgen started learning to type - FOR A.Y.", also the "city of missing textures", and many other custom maps with missing textures actually do have textures, they're just from css, if you load the maps in gmod and have the games mounted you can see them
In the TF2 demo data 46 there is an engineer playing a 3v3 arena match, but blue is missing two players and only heavy is at spawn. later, around half way of the demo the rest of red team vanishes with only engineer left. I tried looking from them but I couldn't find them. You can check this yourselves via the demoui 'drive' option I have no idea what this could hint towards, of if it even has any significance to the ARG in the first place
The heavy in data 86 isn’t it just walking around all goofy, he appears to be doing some animation that does not fit his model, someone should investigate and see what it is and what it regularly looks like
i dont think 52 is the "Weird Crash" scout - even with the similarities, such as the class, team, map, general route, and crash, it moves in a fundamentally different way. probably related, but definitely not equivalent
I tested and most of the missing textures of the demo maps are from other games, open them up in gmod with the other source games mounted and they’ll show up
Interloper is a cool arg started by anomadai, plenty of video essays about interloper Just search up “interloper arg” and you can fall into the rabbit hole from there
Anyone think the POV character in 86 is acting a lot like an umbrella man to the type 5 character? The erratic jumpy movement and camera. Also what the FUCK does it mean that eida’s crasher showed up in a demo?
I think the weird metallic sound implies the pov in demo 86 is trying to delete the fucked up heavy, and it somehow doesn’t seem to be working. The same sound plays in earlier demos where a similarly-behaving pov deletes various things.
Demo 86 is more unique to me not because it presents to us two types in one place but also a new perspective on what they can look like, sometimes a normal model of a civilian but other times a bugged out and distorted to oblivion ragdolls, meaning that not always this type can take a physical form very well It's getting tricky to accompany the series now but i will throw my bet this is a type 5 distorted heavy model
after i seen this vid and looked up for this arg, i can get a theory in demo 86 dynamic npc is a demo, he trying to escape but umbrella guy disguised as heavy trying to destroy him, but in unknown error he cant. ye, sounds like a typical nerd but i dont care :/
Guys i hqve a theory: notice that when in a demo you heard those strange sounds? Its when the demo (person in the demo) starts deleting, that menss that in demo86 it tried to delete that heavy abomination
I think Demo 36, Helicopter, proves Type 6 doesn't exist? Once all the entities are gone it reverts to the traits of an different type, which suggests that the spasms are simply when there is nothing to mark for deletion?
demo 86 is a soul of a type 5 dynamic model (DMNPC basically) got trapped in a distorted heavy ragdoll, and a type 6 guy in there just watching him ascend
A scouter, the dendritic cell to the Interloper, A T-Cell... Or at least that's how I'm trying to understand it. Every time you here the ghoulish noise it's scanning the entity to confirm it's legitimately a part of the game and not an infection such as a dmNPC (dynamic npc). The scans delete the props (0:08), but they can't delete dmNPCs (6:14).

A sentient npc basically, the heavy from demo86 is a good example (the glitched heavy walking around is the dmnpc) Although idk why this heavy is glitched
what about demo 11? its first time i ever seen custometic on a character as well. not to mention the invidual seems to be confused by their clone in the middle of the room. it sadly crashes before we can get anything more of it tho. (infact several other demos end earlier than they should, indicated by the demoui)
