I have a lo-boy 184 with a belly mower. One day I was mowing and took the kids to lunch and came back home and it was like the clutch had readjusted itself after cleaning it(grass from the radiator, around the mower *above and below*). Would you know if I need to readjust it or if something broken?
What do want to know about them? You justhave to re-engineer them to mow! It's a carb governor operation just like the older farmalls, and throw away that junk pto tensioner spring that's joke, it limits tensioner travel OK, weld a bolt on the brace of the tensioner pulley bracket and make a u shape holder with ears and bolt the holder to the frame pointing out and bolt the holder to the frame slide the bolt thru the holder tighten bolt and you will mow grass!! The radiators are salty in price over all engines are long lasting with up keep of mantiance but what isn't compared today's throw away models!
What were you doing when it popped out? These are gear drive not hydraulic. The hydro pump is on the engine. Also something over looked alot is the seat frame will go down and push on the top of the shifter if it's a suspension seat. It happens to mine when I go over bumps sometimes but I am also a bigger guy.
Solid seat. I was pulling a trailer up a small incline and it kicked it out. I was going to check the fluid and I understand that the trans fluid and hydraulic fluid are the same on these?
Yes they are the same but the trans is mechanical not hydraulic. I would think it is most likely a shift fork worn to the point it's out of adjustment. They aren't sinchronized so the gear may have worn a slight bevel on the edge because of the shift fork. This could cause it to push the shift fork and gear away under a heavy load. I would try to recreate the symptom while holding the shifter. If you can't hold it in gear then it's definitely what I have described.
Hey friend, where have you been hiding, been watching for a wanna be farmer video and nothing lol. Anyways its nice to see you back, and looking forward to the next one. cool tractor by the way. thanks for sharing.
