The big problem with these early diesels, would be their habit of cracked cylinder heads. These IHC gas start versions were the worst, but it's a big issue on all early diesels, no matter the make. As long as Harvester supported these with parts and repair services, it wasn't too bad. Just get a new head from the parts counter and have the shop take care of it and your good to go. They used a fraction of the fuel than a comparable gas tractor and generated more power to boot. Just like todays big power, the results justified the cost to keep it going. If the operator followed the required procedures of operation, one rarely had trouble for many thousands of hours use. These diesels were intended to be able to run non stop for indefinite periods, and many did for decades, till replaced by more modern and comfortable tractors that came along. I never had problems with all the ones that I personally used. Once you check the oil and water for the days run, never shut it off till your done for the day. Also don't abuse it or over load it for extended periods. Follow the required shut down routine in the book, and you'll get along good.
