Culture is a collective belief system of the community. Western culture believes that love should be the bond which keeps a couple together, and they expect that people’s love changes and they are ok with that. Indian culture is centered around security and that women are made to believe that they should be with just one person (which is sign of respect) and raise kids. Obviously two cultures are different.
Good info. I have to tell Srinivas garu that promiscuous behavior exists everywhere. In the Western society, having a girl friend/boy friend is socially not a huge stigma. That is the culture here. So, the young people don't hesitate to talk about it openly. That gives a wrong opinion to people who are not living in the Western world. They think the promiscuity is more in the Western world but , not in India. I have seen and known a lot of younger generations in India, (both boys and girls) moving around with boy friends and girl friends, living together, doing alcohol and drugs, getting abortions. But, they hide it because of the social stigma in India and ,they are scared to tell the parents and society. They are worried because, if someone gets to know about it, marriage will be a problem in future. Its an under the carpet behavior in India( for the most part). In the Western society, its culturally acceptible. Anyway, it's their wish, their life. I am not here to criticize them or support them? All i am trying to convey thru this post is , the behavior exists in all the societies, the East and the West. Enquiring about the prospective bride/groom is a good idea whether they are in India or the Western world. I am a Doctor and, i worked in both the societies and i have seen this among my patient population and people around. When someone wants a green card desparately and they get married without enquiring, the other party may also have their own motives. In this scenerio, there is no love. This is like investing in a stock market. Risk is high. Whoever plays the cards right will be the ultimate winner.
All types of behaviors exist everywhere in the world. What matters is the stats, data. What is your accountability? India vs West or US.. You have seen crores of Indian youth, teens do drugs in every nook and corner or India? Where do you find narco stuff so easy in India and the urge to have it so often? In the states its common to find marijuana and others.Its not as wide in India to do or find as like in the west, definitely not amongst the masses or the huge middle class societies in India. But yes the elite, rich classes who can;t be in America and wanna be in America are the ones prone to be in your top list. India and west are two different societies, CULTURES...whole different animals all together, no apples to apples comparison applies here...... like you say even in India....
In my opinion, the problems are with the indian boy or girl. Indian mindset is different. Food is different. Work sharing is different. Our indian youth cannot fit in western society. However, all my three daughters married western men. I have now 6 grand-children and a greatgrand-son. Our family is now 15 strong. Ours is a success story.
A women can ask for alimony only if she is in relationship with the guy for at least 2 yr living in the same house. Regarding kid he can prove that the kid is not his by going for DNA test and if they didn’t stay together he don’t have to pay alimony or child support. In western countries court doesn’t need both to sign in divorce. If they are separated for 6 months anyone of them can apply for divorce and they will get it.

They want short cut in life to get settlement, to get rich and god knows what other reasons. If the person whom the lawyer mentioned is genuine he needs to know facts so that he can move on in his life instead of being scared and that’s the reason I put out what I know.

@@arunsekhar3253 We never know about a girl. True colors come out after 3 to 6 months under pressure of work, service, responsibility and sacrifice. Same with man. However, with arranged marriage there is better chance as elders and society as a whole put pressure to compromise. Sometimes man compromises and sometimes woman. In western countries they divorce. Divorces destroy families both socially and money wise. Luckily western countries support in other areas to offset some of the problems and are able to survive. First they are asked to think they have one life and only they can support that life, so selfish moves are considered alright. You do not have to take care of your parents or sacrifice what is yours for others at individual level. Kids always suffer even the two parents want to settle amicably, which is only 50% of the times. Many kids leave home under such conditions to live with grandparents, or on the streets doing drugs etc. At the societal level of course there is urging to donate and help, and people do. Not every thing is bad with Indian arranged marriages. The newly married to enjoy each other even if they have not met before. Indian society will be worse without introducing more honesty and integrity, support and switching directly to love marriages. I do encourage love marriages but not reckless sex.
