I am a fan of stand up comedy. The joke has to be relatable in order to be funny. And that requires that one has to be culturally immersed in order to find a joke really funny. It took me several years of living in the US and immersing myself in the American culture before I started laughing at their jokes. That said, I kind of disagree with the statement that his comic is "too advanced for these Filipino crowd." Remember, this guy was raised and educated in the US; therefore his jokes are crafted mostly for the American crowd. The Filipinos, especially those who are back there, have different life experiences and may not be able to fully relate to his jokes, yet, they laughed, didn't they? Laughter is a trait that we Filipinos should be proud about us. We are the only people who have the capacity to laugh at ourselves, even if the jokes are on us. Mabuhay ang kulturang Pinoy!

I just can't put the right words into it. it indeed have to do with the culture, and it has to be relatable.. the jokes he made on the show somehow didn't connect perfectly with the audience, due many factors. they're just not that ready for western type jokes.. hopefully he'll get a good crowd on his tours.

Filipinos are not good at picking up stand up jokes. I was like that when I was younger.

JR is really great on his craft, however, he has lots of adjusment needed to make his kababayans really laugh out loud on the content of his jokes and his style. These are Pinoys in his homeland not the Pinoys in LALALand!
