O engraçado é que oq a gente chama de "city pop brasileiro" é apenas samba-funk, e bossa-nova misturado com MPB. É um tanto estranho ver isso, pq só reflete o quanto nosso povo esquece e neglicencia a propria história e cultura, chegando a muitas vezes esquecer os proprios nomes de importantes generos da musica, arte e etc. O funk por exemplo, estilo americano criado por comunidades Afro-Americanas nas eras da Proibição e do Baby Boom com influência do jazz e ritmos africanos; tinha tudo para ser adaptado pro estilo nacional. Afinal o Brasil tem ritmo, afro-americanismo (no caso me refiro ao continente agora) e a questão da música influenciada pelo jazz, que já acontecia pelo bossa-nova. Logo, o funk chegou ao brasil com grande poder e se tornou bem original, com estilos tipo o samba, samba-funk, MPB e ficou assim por muito tempo. Só que quando o funk carioca/paulista surgiu, com origens ritmicas, porem completamente diferentes do funk original; com muito mais influencia do rap e da periferia, com letras retratando mais especificamete os problemas da favela ao inves de todo o Brasil. O termo mudou de sentido para nós, e praticamente todo brasileiro completamente esqueceu do que antes se chamava funk, e apenas lembram da palavra da forma que é conhecida hoje. O funk foi basicamente substituido, ao invés de ter andado lado a lado com os novos e antigos estilos de música criados pelo brasileiro

Alot of the citypop variations within here have interesting national variations worth looking into. The Italian, French(and to an extent the Hong Kong example within the description) tracks within the mix are classic examples le of Italodisco; worth looking into as it is Italy's equivalent of citypop though less acoustic and more synthpop like (and personally one of my favorite variations of citypop) As for the UK example, Shakatak is also worth looking into; I've been listening to Shakatak for quite a while and two other bands worth looking into if you enjoy the Jazz Funk style variations of "Citypop" include Fruitcake and Kangaroo (my personal fav out of the Jazz Funk Bands imo)

Greetings!City Pop is a mixture of Aor,Disco,Funk,Soul,Synth Pop,Boogie and Jazz.Unfortunately,there are very few songs in Italian/French music in their native language (mostly in English),so you have to choose what is))Moreover,a lot of music is very copyrighted, especially German and Chinese,and it is very difficult to choose at least something. Para los que niegan el alcance del city Pop de los 80 y la influencia del pop en general de la epoca de los 80 y 90 incluso dicha influencia la podemos encontrar en los 70 y tardíamente en la década del 2000 En América Latina artistas como luis Miguel, lucero, Roberto Carlos, camilo sesto, mecano, las flans etc supieron aprovechar este fenómeno musical nacido ante la posición de la musica disco funk y otras en el Japón y como estas se expandió en todo el mundo definiéndose el pop en esa temporalidad no solo en América Latina si no en otras latitudes

In Indonesia we called this music, " creative pop" , fyi In the past, this song was used by the Suharto government to fight the wave of ballads and sad songs which at that time were not liked by the government

11:35-11:48: the song goes อยากจะร้องไห้ (yaag ja ronghaai: meaning 'I want to cry'), ironically coinciding with footage of girls prostituting themselves in Soi Cowboy, a notorious red light district in Bangkok, Thailand. Out of necessity not choice. Look at the third girl in the white swimsuit on the right. She doesn't look comfortable or happy with what she's having to do 😢

Varias de esas canciones que menciona son solo baladas rítmicas, parece que usted aún no ha entendido lo que es la esencia del city pop por el contrario la selección de canciones en este video si se pueden considerar city pop, por lo menos la mayoría

En ese sentido tiene razón La línea entre lo pop y las baladas de esa época era algo indeleble ejemplos lo ve es estas dos corrientes musicales así como en el pop anglo El pop de los 80 tenía sus corrientes regionales pero todas influenciadas por el disco funk jazz y otros géneros de la música de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado

This might help: If it’s Taiwan it’s either Taiwanese or Mandarin. Or you could use the general term Chinese

@@nami7044 Sorry late reply, I believe Cantonese is Hong Kong, yes. If you want to check out some Chinese music Jolin Tsai, Angela Chang, Cyndi Wang, Rainie Yang, Jay Chou, Faye Wong, and A-Mei are all iconic artists in the Mandarin-speaking world, and last but not least Teressa Teng, she's the most iconic in all of Asia. Also for music, the nuances aren't so specific, I'm sure there is Cantonese music but in general, all the artists are well known in each country and almost all pop songs in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China are Mandarin.
