My first Scout was a 65 2wd. I bought it from an older guy who bought it Maine. When it got cold I went to turn the heater on, but could not find a switch/lever. I took it to the dealer & they told me that mine didn't have a heater as it was an option. Mine had a hand throttle that you pulled out of the dash & used it like a speed control.
that hand throttle was intended to be used when fording rivers, maintaining a minimum exhaust pressure so that water would not go into the exhaust pipe and shutting off the engine. speed would be adjusted by slipping the clutch, not with the gas pedal
@@robertsmentkowski312 Thanks. I had a 73 bronco that also had a hand throttle I used to use as sort of a cruise control. Good to know that was its purpose. I called it the "choke"
Fascinating history. Although I've never owned or driven an International Scout, I've always admired them. I have always liked old-school truck based SUVs. I wonder how much a Scout would cost today. A good, well maintained, unmodified example.
Oh, about $50,000 for a Scout II to start. They're crazy expensive to restore, and most Scouts got "rode hard and put away wet..." I beat the crap out of mine.
thank you I'm a new subscriber I really injoyed this video 👍👍👍I always like the looks of the IH Scout my step brother owned one as his first car back in the 70's I think it was a 1964 model year it was in real nice shape in and out well good night ⛺🌇🌆⛼🌃 and sleepless night when any asks me about my sleepless nights i just tell them that sleep is over rated 😆 :-) C😎😎L
I'm sorry, Glenn. I made the music myself with Acid so there'd be SOMETHING in the video that wouldn't earn a copyright strike. Please feel free to mute the video, as it's not really needed anyway.
