At someone who coached all different ages of very competitive boys soccer teams, at this age it mostly has to do with who is going through puberty. I have seen very talented 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys dominate only to have others catch up at a late time and become better players. It has a lot to do with not working hard because things are easy.
