I don't usually like to start shit in the comments of videos, especially ones that are obviously meant as comedy, but I have to say, that guy couldn't be more wrong about comfort animals. I was particularly upset by his line about 'the biggest difference between comfort animals and therapists' (5:15). Every therapist I've ever met has died exactly twelve years after they met me, to the day. Those in the industry who know of me refer to me as "The Annihilator." Let me emphasize- not just therapists I have made appointments with. Every last one of them that I've ever met. Every so often, I'll be having a pleasant conversation with a stranger, only to be struck with sickened horror when I ask what they do for a living and they casually respond that they're a psychologist. I do not know why this happens, if this is some bizarre version of the philosophy that nothing is truly impossible in a world full of unpredictable events and coincidences or if I am truly some cursed creature, perhaps something of the devil's own creation. Of course, seeking help would only put more blood on my hands. Instead, I remain reclusive. Haunted. Paranoid. So, in conclusion, the REAL biggest difference between animals and therapists is that I don't mean to kill therapists.

I really don't like Maddox and his format. He is a psuedo-intellectual. Even when he is right he is wrong about why he is right. He is just an angry guy sharing poorly understood research on the internet with an incredibly one sided viewpoint. At first I thought he was a satire channel and it was a joke about internet arrogance and misuse of the term 'scepticism'... But it seems like he just really thinks highly of his opinion and is a fan of the logical fallacy 'blinding with science'. Quoting a random study and claiming it backs you up isn't actually the same thing as proof. In the academic community there are levels in which critical thinking is applied. Cherry picking studies that agree with you and ignoring the ones that don't is not good practice. It's also not a good idea to ignore the peer reviews of the study you quote. And if there are no peer reviews and you are qualified then perhaps you should try and verify the validity of that study. Publishing the same opinion over and over again without new research or review and justifying it with similar opinions that have no new research or review is a big problem in academia. I recognize that Maddox is an entertainer and not an academic... But it still leads to both the spread of misinformation and a misunderstanding of the scientific method. There is much more nuance and ambiguity to scientific understanding. Yes there are scientific facts but claiming that every study that shows some correlation or theorised a concept is 'fact' blurs the lines of scientific truth. There are a ton of things that Maddox has published where the scientific community is in near unanimous disagreement in their conclusions to him. But because of the way that Maddox delivers his opinions as scientific fact many of his fans treat the subjects he covers as 'debunked' or 'solved' when in fact new research is being conducted on a daily basis. I kinda see people like Maddox as part of this culture of psuedo-rationalism that has become popular amongst what was RU-vid atheists. They were good at being right when it came to young earth creationism... But when they started branching out into more nuanced or social topics... It was clear that these guys had no idea how to be smart. They only knew how to be standing from the point of having the evidence supporting you and shouting down at those who lacked evidence. When the evidence wasn't on their side though they just jumped straight into shit flinging contests. It's a shame but I think it taught a lot of people a good lesson about 'debate' culture. You can 'win' an argument and still not have a clue. Debate isn't how we advance the limits of human knowledge. Only research and experience can do that. Seeing so many people fighting over things they have no qualified understanding of makes me feel depressed at the state of internet culture. Bush did 9/11

Actually it's best to cross out your words with one line (or two if it's really wrong), because of the fact that it remains legible. If it's on a to do list, it helps you feel a sense of accomplishment and if it's on any kind of official papers, it protects you from looking like you were trying to be deceptive or shady by undoing your first thoughts and if it for notes, it can help you retain memories and understand mistakes
