I have a question,.......... apart from videocall apps(using webRTC), in what other circumstances ISP A subscriber need to connect with ISP B subscriber directly. Since in gmail , chat apps etc. we send the message to server and then the server sends the mail or reply to the receiver , so no interconnection between 2 ISPs is required?
Thanks for the great explanation. Do I understand correctly that an IX is physically connected to the ISPs? Does that mean joining a local IX is a trade off between cost of connecting to an IX vs. transit cost?
